There might be Nothing they won't eat!!! But as well as every vegetable, flake, pellet and frozen food, mine do love to nibble on Duckweed roots, to the point where Duckweed struggles to keep up :)
@@AussieAquatic Haha, I think I've noticed that a little with my frogbit. I just upgraded my shrimp tank light, so we'll see if it's the low light or the nibbling shrimp is the problem.
@@ants7279 Hey, good to see you back! I'm actually in the research phase of learning how to ship shrimp. Going to try and see if it works, and then find out if it's really that cost effective to ship shrimp. Wish me luck!
LOL! Repashy definitely has a certain humor with their food names. Thanks so much for visiting my channel. I love all the wonderful videos you put out; very inspiring to me. :)
I recently got repashy, I fed them the powder first and they were ok with it. I properly made it and put it in... They won’t touch it! I have 6 cherries and 1 wood shrimp, why won’t they eat it!?😂
ive been thinking of making videos and really just getting started is already so tough. it definitely does take a lot of effeort to produce such well made videos
Oh just a tip I figured out about the BacterAE - I put the dose in a plastic water bottle with tank water, shake it up, and then pour it in all my tanks. That way it doesnt just float on the surface and make a mess!
Sharing this as I know this community can appreciate my joy: i tried the blanched & frozen zucchini and, it didn't happen in the first hour, but I came home from work to a completely eaten zucchini!! I danced a jig so hard but nobody in my house is as passionate about it. Thank you! (Amano. Bristle nose, nerites, and cherry shrimp)
I feel you. I like to make homemade gel food for my aquatics and no one in my family understand the feeling whenever you have a swarm of them eating it. I noticed that shrimp in general love zucchini, cucumber and carrot
Enjoyed your video. I have my first ever cherry shrimp about 3 weeks now. I have 8. I tried a little green bean last night. They soon began eating on it. How long do you leave it in there? I am trying these guys in a small, self sustaining aquarium. So far, so good!
This is very timely for me. I've had my shrimp for about a month and at the same time accidentally acquired pond snails - which have completely eliminated all visible algae from the tank. So I've been experimenting with different shrimp foods. I recon I'm about to order some almond leaves and cholla wood. Thanks!
Rapashy gel food goes a long way and they love it. When I see babies appear I feed the same portion you would with Bacter AE in the straight powder form.
Last time I fed my tank boiled carrot, I noticed that it took a couple days for the shrimp and snails to start eating it. I think they were mainly eating the biofilm that grew on the carrot as it decomposed. In fact I wrote this comment before I had gotten to the part of the video where you mentioned you fed your shrimp carrots! As a biochemist, I do think there is great theoretical justification for feeding carotenoids to shrimp. The conversion from one carotenoid to another really only takes a few reductions to go from a more yellow carotenoid to a more red one. Though, I should mention that I have no idea what the pigment in shrimp is (I should probably look into that). I'm curious to know if you've had any empirical boost in redness from feeding carrots!
Aquarium co-op has a video on Aqua Hana who imports fish and shrimp. They feed their shrimp carrots too and found the shrimp who are not typically red turn red! Here’s a link: ua-cam.com/video/o6Vhfd7mA98/v-deo.html
I have a lot of floating plants and I found if I keep my lights on for more than 12 hours a day the other plants get the right amount of light and grow like a week and it doesn't seem to grow algae
That's a pretty lucky situation, that way you can have your lights on for the entire part of the day when you're awake! Mine would grow too much algae, so I can't really watch my aquarium in early mornings and nights.
My cherry shrimp love Shrimp King complete, bee pollen, canned green beans, and Aquarium Co-op fry foods. Great video, you gave me some ideas for foods to try
My cherry shrimp love frozen broccoli. If almond leaves are too expensive, leaves from oak trees worked well for me. I collect them in fall as the leaves dry brown and fall off the trees.
I don't have much experience with freshwater shrimp but at one time I had a pair of peppermint shrimp in a marine tank and I would feed tetra ruby flake food to the fish. The shrimp learned to climb up the plants and eat the flake food off the water surface. Amazingly after a few months those shrimp had the most fluorescent blood red coloration from the tetra ruby. Tetra still makes a cichlid flake food that looks similar to the tetra ruby. It might be worth crushing some up and feeding it to the freshwater shrimp.
Thank you so much! After 6 years in the hobby I just discovered that "cholla" wood is pronounced "choya" and not with the throat like Challah bread 🙃 To be fair, I had never heard someone say it out loud, only read in books and forums online 😅

I love shrimp, they are the cutest creatures ever! I wasn’t planning to get any for now because I didn’t think I had the right setup for them, however there was a wild neo hitchhiker when I got some ember tetras and he’s been thriving in my tank, so I got more. Thanks for this great video!

I experimented with feeding powdered chlorella and my shrimp are now unrecognizeable. The colours are much more vivid than previously, and a few shrimp that didn't have much colour got some dark markings on their heads and tails.
My shrimp love all the foods you mentioned, plus mashed cooked peas, spinache boiled to just about mush, boiled nettle, and the various snow flake foods. 👍💕👍 P/S Your hair looks fabulous!
i like to dice really small cucumber and carrot pieces and i’ll mix it with brine and blood worms, i’ll add equal amounts to a small freezer trey that are squares, then i’ll add a bit of water to it so it can freeze, i’ll drop 2 of them in on different parts of the tank every week as a treat, they love it!! note: only freeze a few weeks worth because the food tends to get freezer burn after a month or two and i don’t know if that’s good for the shrimp or not 🤷♂️

Thank you for this video, I learned alot of useful information :)
Definitely should check out aquatic arts sinking pellets, my shrimp absolutely love them. Seems to give em lots of energy as well.
I also use a shrimp jello thing that I make. They love it.

Omega One shrimp & lobster pellets, French cut green beans, peas-squished without the shell.
I microwave some frozen peas in water for about 10 seconds, shell them, and give the pea a little squish when I put in my tank. That way some of breaks off and without the shell they swarm the peas.
Great idea! Yeah, they totally love peas as long as I take the time to de-shell them first. :)
What gravel vacuum do you recommend for a 10 gallon tank with rcs, guppies, white skirt tetra and a serpae tetra
