I'm one of the few fortunate brats in the 90's that had the Tubular Bells cd before I saw The Exorcist. Such a beutiful piece with many emotions. Mike Oldfield is brilliant.
Me too!! Then my father heard me listening to it on repeat and freaked out! 😂 He schooled me but I still have the core nostalgic memory of this beautiful thing.
The whole song is 25 + mins long and I have to say one of the best modern masterpieces of the 20th century. From beginning to it end it is just made for the ear and mind..to hear and see.
If you listen to the full version it's really quite different. It's a 50 minute long piece split into two halves for the two sides of an LP. Sure it has this part, but it also has some absolutely bonkers ridiculous parts too. Mike Oldfield was a young dude at the time and he was just playing what came to him.
Has anyone out there heard the full album Tubular Bells? It's just one tune that takes up both album sides, it's absolutely esoteric and you have to a serious Mike Oldfield devotee to get through the entire album
Hey, I heard it and I actually liked it. And no, I'm definitely not "a serious Mike Oldfield devotee", lol. I barely know his other works, because I'm not as much into this kind of music. But I like to check new stuff and this album is generally considered a classic, so I had to finally listen to it. I even remember the first time - I was probably in highschool at the time, it was summer and I was visiting my aunt & uncle and my cousins, so I was borrowing a lot of their records. I just put it on and played it. It wasn't that much esoteric (or weird, or difficult, or boring etc). It's really, really cool album. It brings a lot of various emotions, some of them very specific, some of them I rarely even feel.
Well hello there young lady! First of all let me tell you that the pursuit of higher education is no waste of time, (I read your profile, or what there was of it), I have a masters of neuropsychology myself and as difficult as it was to get through it on occasion (I also had to work to support a family of 4) I don't regret a minute of it. This tune is better known as the theme from the film "The Exorcist" which was releases in around 73 I think. Really great classic horror film. You should check it out sometime if you haven't already, great date film for guys who like to have their dates cling to them during the most frightening scenes.
ME TOO.... ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU KNOW THAT THE BASES FOR "THAT MOVIE" , CENTERED AROUND THE REAL DEAL... IT HAPPENED TO S A 24 YEAR OLD MAN.... AND IT TOOK MORE THAN SIX MONTHS TO RID HIM OF ," THOSE LEGION." .. TRIPPY , RIGHT?!?!
When u grow up ur heard dies, somebody call, somebody call 📞 dont go. I think Gunship referenced this track for sure in "Gunship - When you grow up your heart dies" the whole band is a synthwave throwback to 80s and 90s so that makes sense to me Man this pure moods album stayed in my CD player for months
@@bubbythebear6891 In this video, no. It’s a reference to the movie the Exorcist. Tubular bells is the soundtrack to that movie, and the flashing demon face is something that occurs in that movie.
If you were a 90s kid with this cd+a piano or keyboard in your house then you probably annoyed the shit outta your parents trying to teach yourself to play this 🎹💿
It’s such a soft song but used for the exorcist to show it was a movie about pure love and softness which is what Jesus Christ was, pure love and softness and in this case he was going to combat pure evil and hate which is Satan.
Everyone is saying Exorcist, but when I used to hear this song on the commercials back in the 90s it reminded me of the shockumentary Traces of Death part 1, which was first released in 1993. The song from that movie is different though and way creepier. m.ua-cam.com/video/m1Cby_bZ7fY/v-deo.html&pp=ygURdHJhY2VzIG9mIGRlYXRoIDE%3D

This was always my least favourite track of the album and not necessarily because of the Exorcist, but it is creepy and a bit shrill on the ears. But there are bits I like
"Set adrift with the timeless pleasures of TUBULAR BELLS!"

This Moods album sure brings back memories of my childhood, growing up in the 90s.

This would be a sweet, relaxing song if not for the visions in our heads from The Exorcist...
Only in America.

Imagine seeing that version and inna gotta davita next to each other on a juke box song que lol
One of the best music soundtracks ...reminds me of some deep down childhood memories embedded within,..
This tune, although beautiful, it freaks me out by just remembering THE EXORCIST movie where it was used as the movie's theme!!!

Yes Ronald was some guy!
An odd choice of a song for listening to for relaxation purposes, I mean I guess if you like songs that remind you of the scariest movie ever.
For me this music sounds like you’re leaving the evil of the world to ascend to the love of heaven.
the comments here are SO GOOD
I love this entire CD… except for this song. Lol. Scary 😟
This music is ok 👌
