I knew off the bat the 'car keys' is referring to parerents coming home. Just talking and looking down on you and screaming when they get back. Hearing you explain it adds context and things i didnt think about, i feel like looking at the song lyrically alone is fun & listening to it was fun and takes steam off while allowing me to acknowledge how i feel. This is the first song interview i've watched and actually listened too, there are plenty of other songs i like but i genuinely enjoy dissecting the song. I think your one of my favorite artists right now 😭 Hope to always see videos of you explaining songs after producing them. Its like an extra treat after eating some good food
I love love love you guys so much Kaonashi < 3 I got to see you guys live in Winnipeg MB not too long ago, and my fiance is the one who introduced me to your music. I feel like your story, characters, sound, and meanings are so real, raw and different. Thank you for writing stories that represent the underdogs and the kids who almost/do slip through the cracks. Ive never heard songs that feel so real and relatable in terms of abuse ( especially from parents ) trans struggles, mental health, and succumbing to all of the things that fail you in life. Your music means so much to so many of us, it is reaching people, all of the target audiences.. Please keep doing what you're doing and I cannot WAIT to see more. Much love from winnipeg. Please come back soon!
I found you guys on Tiktok because of this song, and man... the lyrics are so straight forward, but yet deep with a serious message. I think a lot of guys growing up with an abusive father and dealing with those racist stereotypes, can relate to this.
It’s really under represented and it just said that people are marketed towards pretty much by the class now??? it is also sad that with consumerism and capitalism type stuff people value, objects and work too much and don’t care about people anymore😢😢😢😢😢 LOL🎉🎉🎉
So this track popped up on a Spotify mix after playing a few tracks from my library and I had to stop and run it back a few times because it reminded me of Burnt By The Sun, Horse The Band and even Korn(lyrically)some other bands with quirky tracks I've heard over the years. The lyrics grabbed my attention and the meaning behind them was very clear to grasp. Made me think of people I knew with jacked up childhoods. I believe in Jesus as my Lord and Savior and though I didn't grow up with my dad, we have a great relationship. So the lyrics towards the end of the song really perked up my ears since many men, especially black men in America, can't relate to a heavenly Father since they have no relationship or a horrible relationship with their early father. This song is deep and cuts deeply. As a hardcore and metal fan, keep up the great writing. This track definitely had me two-stepping in my mind and doing other dance moves from my mosh pit days. Checked out other tracks and videos from the album. Last time I was at a show at First Unitarian, I saw Busdriver and some HC band whose name i forgot sadly. Great work man.
Peter - I have listened to your albums and scoured over the lyrics more times than I can count. I love this series and adore the attention you and the Kaonashi lads put into flushing out these amazing songs while crafting such a great story. Please keep them coming. Absolutely nipping at the bud for the next album and more story!
To me it sounded like, there’s a guy and a girl, they’re in a toxic relationship where the guy has had it nice but never appreciated it so he drinks and party’s and does drugs all the time and she’s tired of where her whole life has been taking her; during a comedown after a huge argument. The part of always in the bathroom always in the kitchen (doing drugs and drinking) and I don’t like Jesus Christ and my dad for the same exact reason (abandoning and false hope) idk it’s all anxiety inducing and I guess that was the point
We have another video on our channel that explains it a little bit better, but they're all recurring characters in a concept story that spans our discography. The next part of the story will be out in a few months so keep on the lookout! ua-cam.com/video/8R_gUtkku0k/v-deo.html
I hate the sound of car keys album cover pic was taken in Peters living room, right? Or am I buggin I think the “no hardcore dancing in the living room” banner is just out of frame

Fucken OATH M8!!!🎉🎉🎉😂😂😂❤❤
I thought it was referring to how the jingling of a belt sounds like car keys.
First time hearing the song and reading the lyrics shocked me because they’re just so damn relatable. Incredible track and amazing lyrics Peter!
bro this song is NUTS. Love it. The sounds slam hard, the lyrics hit just as fucking hard. Amazing piece right here
Met Peter at the Toronto PTH show. What an absolute, genuine dude. His charisma is set to 100. Great live show from the band!
I get it, bro. Before you even explained it in this video I knew exactly what you meant by "I hate the sound of car keys". I felt that in my core.
Same brother

I wanted to know why the second “oh my god” the god part ends abruptly making it even more uncanny if I’m using the right word…
7:48 thank chrimbus I'm glad I'm not the only one who uses rhymezone for lyric ideas lmao.

That father figuratively line blew my mind when I first heard it. Ya'll stay leveling up 🔥
Relatively new fan! This was awesome to hear your influences and ideas and even what went into the cover art. Really excited to see you in Tucson!
It’s so inspiring seeing a band that comes from your city do some numbers 😸
nothing hits as hard as this song. its easily one of my favorites from you guys...love yall, see you in portland!!💪🏽
100% relate to the lyrics. Been there and have felt the way the lyrics describe what someone has gone through, and is.
Yooo, someone else understands that drenching feeling!!!! For me, it was the sound of the garage door opening.
I would watch this for every song.. Super interesting insight tbh!
Cannot fucking wait to see you guys in Scotland in September! I'll be there, front and center.
You mentioning the shock of the n word reminds me of the first time I hear Soul Glo Gold Chain Punk haha love it dude
I always thought this song was about coke heads!
Crazy how someone else can interpret the lyrics completely different and they still apply
the songs a hit very worldly
you have no clue how many people this song resonates with

Best lyricist of our generation 🔥

genius
Do "Fuck Temple University" next!
ik i’m late but album art had to be taken in the kitchen of the bone palace 👀

Who are these characters mentioned? Just found these guys but I feel like I’m missing out on some important info here.

SING HO
Nice to know the lyrics are not deep at all. Bummed.
i mean, you could tell from reading them. still a great song
They are deep. Just because it’s easy to understand, doesn’t mean it’s any less meaningful.
