    I just realized Kevin Barker was the apprentice on the Jamestown Net Zero project. Even though he was pretty advanced at the time (6 years in) it is nice to see the progression.

    That window casing was a beautiful piece of carpentry. Watch how Tom doesn't just give a hand. He is also carefully overseeing every step without taking over. Natural teacher. A rare thing.

    I was keeping it all neat and tidy over forty years ago and I always felt good when any of the other trades or the home owner commented about how good the installation looked and how easy it was to figure out the layout of the house.

    I'm sure that finish carpenter was freaking out the entire time having Silva help him, especially with the final install. But I'm sure they test fit it before they shot the scene.

    Why was the shed guy's company design logo on his back blurred out but his hat along with the worker's jacket and hats weren't blurred out ? The cedar was bottom nailed leaving the nailed exposed, isn't it supposed to be topped nailed then covered by the next row/course ?

      Blur the logo in a few of the shots, show it in others, and they call out the Reeds Ferry Sheds in the video description. Must have only given a 10% discount.

    The storm windows seem to be a fire egress hazard? Should they be latched from the inside instead?

    • @SpringRubber
      @SpringRubber Рік тому

      Typically, the IRC requires that a bedroom has a window for egress. But those windows are in a dining room / living room. Heck the windows themselves could have been fixed / non-opening.

      The shed company gives the customer what they wanted. If you don't, you go out of business. And they had to get approval for everything so guess the historic commission was satisfied? • @SpringRubber
      @SpringRubber Рік тому

      A 30% improvement to what was there, which is what they said. I suppose when the temps drop in winter one could hang a quilt over the windows. But then a pipsqueak will comment "That's a fire hazard!" -- even though it would be historically authentic.
