Who knows with a new coach, but the talent is there. According to ESPN, On3, Late Kick, and several other sources, Texas A&M still has a Top 10 Roster talent-wise. According to ESPN, Texas A&M Ranks #1 in the SEC in returning production at 72%. 247Sports ranks Texas A&M #4 in portal transfers. A&M is #4 in CBS Sports’ ranking of BCR (Blue Chip Roster) with 79% of their roster made up of either 4* or 5* ranked athletes; only behind Ohio State, Alabama and Georgia. Vegas ranks Conner Weigman as 8th best odds to win the Heisman. A&M has one of the deepest RB and TE rooms in the country, with 3 RB’s who can start at most programs and two 5* TE’s. Question marks are OL, WR, CB. Strengths are DL, QB, RB, DB. Dumbo wasted a lot of talent.

Yeah, A&M is a true threat. What scares me the most is getting Tommy Moffitt. He was our strength and conditioning coach since 2000. He was there for 3 of our National Titles. I'm mad Brian Kelly didn't keep him when he was hired on. But I'm still rooting for him regardless.

Omg, omg, omg.....ESPN ranked us #1 in returning production. We are winning a natty for sure this year. With Elko having those 2 years of HC experience at Duke we are going to dominate the SEC. Gig'it all day long!!!!!!!

I wouldn't say we're happy that Elko is defensive minded, but he's actually smart and is keeping these kids accountable.

Remember the name Tommy Moffitt! If the Aggies have success this year. He will be a key component!

A&M will be a surprise to other teams. Elko hasn’t put up with the prima Donna players. Those that couldn’t follow the rules. No making it to practice or meetings. They all hit the portal. Glad they left. We’re better without them. Glad we got rid of Jimbo. Jimbo was too prideful to change. He hired a OC, but they still ran Jimbos play book. He couldn’t recognize that his offensive line coach was pathetic. GigEm BTHO everyone!!

Just a couple of notes. They were actually 34-14 with Elko. Even better than 31-14. Then 12-13 without him like Brent said. They also lost Jerry Schmidt that same offseason, and I believe Moffitt is as close to Schmidt as you can expect.
While yes, the returning talent is more proven on defense, the roster set up is actually pretty balanced.
The offensive side of the ball has 39 scholarship players with an average star rating of 91.09. 25 are 4/5 star recruits for a BCR % of 64.1%.
The defensive side of the ball has 41 scholarship players and an average star rating of 91.67. 27 are 4/5 star recruits for a BCR % of 65.9%.
So from a pure recruiting standpoint, they are very close. But the defense has more proven players as Jimbo underperformed on offense.
Note that for transfers, these are their transfer portal rankings. Not their original HS rankings. So Dezz Ricks was a 5 star, but re-rated as a 94 four star. But BJ Mayes was a 3 star, and rerated as a 4 star.

Doesn’t matter what they were coming out of HS. So many of those top guys aTm recruited have not lived up to their rankings and it’s widespread.
This happened to Mack Brown late in his career at Texas. So many top players didn’t amount to much and that’s the case also right now at aTm.

Holy cow! An average star rating of 91.67. We are totally winning a natty this year. 91.67 is fire.

Finally somebody telling the truth about A&M recruiting. A&M has been horrible at recruiting for so long, especially when compared to OU and tu. Jimbo got a couple elite classes, but Bama, UGA and your competition had already stacked 5 straight elite classes and utilized the portal better.

Brent Zwerneman is quite good at getting scoops of breaking news. But as a cfb analyst, he is like most newspaper sportswriters. Zero actual knowledge.

I just don’t understand putting the cart before the donkey. Why not wait till after the season to see what’s happening? Remember all the same BS that was being spewed about Jimbo and how he’s changing the culture etc…??

Defense is one thing but Wegman is never going to be the guy that leads TA&M to any more than 7 wins max. Average skill, no vision and throws interceptions at the worst possible times. Oh and did I say he telegraphs his passes?

    • @rccola21
      @rccola21 25 днів тому +1

He has 2 career interception, one of which was a perfect pass to a receiver that slipped after the ball was thrown, and the other was a garbage time jump ball on 4th and long..? I not sold on the offense being much better this year, but if the OL can protect him of .5 second longer Conner is a top 5 QB

RC Slocum? He could not win a big game to save himself. All those lost Cotton Bowl's in his own backyard.
