    A Dallas native here! I stumbled across your videos recently and i really enjoy them. I feel like I missed my calling to be a pilot so it's great to be able to see what the pilot life is really like especially living and working in DFW. I hope you continue making your videos.

      Hey thank you. You can still get a pilot cert even if you don’t want to change careers. Just takes a discovery flight to start

    I hate the cold too! But its because of meds. I live on the lake in Pennsylvania where its cold 8 months a year haha. I wear hoodies 365 days per year. Question. Do you manually fill out your logbooks every so often or does the company keep track of them of your hours for you. Do you fly any GA? How do you keep track of everything?

    Agree with your comments at security in UK. London is ridiculous. Manchester is even worse. Inconsistent in requirements. Having said that, I have had lots of 'fun' with TSA.. mostly for the most stupid/irrelevant of reasons.

    have you ever taken off from runway 31L at dfw, its pretty rare but last year it happened a lot, also do check air man have to do flights like normal pilots or do they only do training flights

    • @geekontheflightdeck
      @geekontheflightdeck  10 годин тому

      I have departed 31L just a handful of times over the years. Check airman do both. Sometimes they just fly a turn/ trio for proficiency and not instructing.

  • @AnApacheMedjai
    @AnApacheMedjai 5 днів тому

    My understanding on seniority at your airline is that flying to London is the least fun. So my question is what’s a high seniority bid at your airline for the 777? And what’s the highest seniority line that pilots bid for at your airline?

    • @geekontheflightdeck
      @geekontheflightdeck  5 днів тому

      Generally ICN, FRA, and NRT are the senior trips. Hawaii goes senior as well for something warm.

      It is 100% normal for the first time to operate a plane there are people on board. It would be prohibitively expensive to operate empty airplanes for training

    Does the crew assignment change if the upgrading captain was/is a fully qualified 777 FO? Meaning, they could be in the cockpit with a second FO during rest, so the line training captain would only need to be in cockpit during ground, climb and descent/arrival? Could you get away with training captain+ line training captain+ FO?

    • @geekontheflightdeck
      @geekontheflightdeck  5 днів тому +2

      It would be the same even if the Captain was a 20 year 777 FO.

      Yeah were are doing construction months ago and left that toilet behind. My third week driving a school bus out in the country I tried to turn around and got the rear of the bus stuck on the rail road tracks. Multiple agencies came out. Only injury was my pride thankfully.
