I don’t think it’s a cult, beautiful people and nice to know and see they’re world wide doing the same thing. Anyway great vid like always Darren, miss your vids on tik tok.
Hi Chilean here, they are indeed people who share the cult of the Bible, usually Christians, Catholics or Mormons. It is quite common to see them on the streets and sometimes also with a giant speaker hahaha
I saw this post on Instagram a bit ago and was so excited for something other than London! This being said, you could only fly to London for the rest of your life and I’d still watch your videos. Great work Mr. Byrd! (Also, yes at 21:25 the Chilean flag is incredibly similar to the Texan one. Fun fact: The Chilean flag is known as “La Estrella Solitaria”, or “The Lone Star”. )
Hey Darren, aspiring pilot from Hong Kong here. Just wanted to show my appreciation for your videos, offering me insights of rostering and perhaps the more "realistic" side of what being an airline pilot is like. I find your videos valuable for my own personal growth and knowledge that I can sprinkle into my airline cadet pilot programme interview in the coming future. Keep up with the content and thank you for letting us tag along with your journeys!
next time here in chile go for a 'completo italiano', you will be amased. there's a classic restaurant quite close where you stayed called 'Elkika'. glad you enjoyed chile, there's a lot more to explore :)
One of the best videos. Thanks. It seems easier on the body clock flying west/east rather than north/south. Sure enjoy the information you share too about the airline world.
Thank you for subscribing. My Dad was an engineer (long before auto cad). I was never good in math so never pursued it. Take a discovery flight sometime!
Woah you wear cowboy boots when flying ? so you are a cowboy pilot ? That’s so cool . Will definitely be wearing a leather jacket as a pilot can’t wait .
Woohoo another Darren Byrd video! New destination too! Do you feel glad you made a mistake bidding because you wouldn’t have otherwise gotten to go to Chile as an F/O? Have you ever flown with Captain Steve? He’s also on the 777 for Kirkland and has a channel named character health. He has a similar outgoing personality like you.
Interesting ! Flown to MIA and MCO many times. I thought customs and immigration in Miami ( and Orlando) were dreadful (AUS and DFW were a dream) but I thought it was because I am a non US passport holder. Now I know you suffer the same problems it makes me fell better ( I think) .
Was the 777 deadhead from DFW-MIA a Miami or Dallas crew? I also noticed the aircraft later flew to various military facilities such as Pope Army Air Field, Robert Gray Army Airfield, and Biggs Army Airfield. Does Kirkland do military contracts and if so have you ever bid for them?
Funny saying flying the plane is the easy part! I worked a large transit agency that was union! The work was the easy part. Knowing the work rules and pay and BIDDING scehuldes every three months was the pain in the neck! It was a good job with great pay. GO UNION!
Santiago is less safe than a few years ago and we Chileans haven’t got used to our new reality, but Santiago is still safer than cities like LA and Chicago

Hey Darren, you mentioned at 3:24 its a FO trip and that you were flying but then mentioned the captain did the approach and landing. What does FO trip mean then or did the captain decide to do the landing later on during the flight? Could you elaborate on this?
I’m sure Darren could explain better, but I believe that just because it’s an FO trip doesn’t mean he’s the pilot in control. Just means that he would be sitting in the FO seat rather than the relief pilot seat/duties. He would still be in control of communications, etc..
He means it’s an FO trip for him (not the aircraft) as in he is the first officer instead of relief pilot (FB or FC) which he has been a lot in the recent past. I’m sure he flew the return leg to Miami as the crew typically alternate pilot flying and pilot monitoring.
As others stated for every aircraft at my airline the Captain flies one leg and the First Officer flies the next one. I flew the return trip including the takeoff and landing.
Complicated. Hours flown and hours on duty. For a London trip 10 and a half hours duty day 1 with 9 hours of flying and 12 hours duty with 10 1/2 hours flying on day 3
Hey Darren, you mentioned that your FB was about 5000 numbers senior to you, however new on the 777. If both of you were to bid on the same flight who would get it? The one if more seniority or the one with more experience on type?
Yes but this trip was designed by scheduling so they had to deadhead me from and return me to DFW. I can bid for trips out of anywhere but it is my responsibility to get myself there and back
Depends. If it's anything by the very last leg of a sequence yes. The last leg I could deadhead for 24 hours straight. That would be FAA compliant but not union contract compliant.

@@fideoloco830 Interesting indeed. I'm Catholic and have never seen this type of literature. Even in Thailand, the Buddhist pamphlets differ from these. 🤷🏽♂
Loved Santiago! When I was there all the museums were free to go in.
Welcome to my city sir! 🇨🇱

London is great, but I enjoy a change of scenery. Thank you for the kind words

Will enjoy watching this! Makes me happy seeing operations of airlines from around the world, keep it coming! ❤
Thank you for the kind words
We really enjoyed the great video, thank you for continuing to produce these. You are my favorite content creator!
Glad you enjoy it!

That 360 camera is amazing for this content, glad you had a good time in Santiago. Maybe ill copy you on frequency next time.
Very nice, I had an overnight there about a week ago. We hiked up to the Virgin Mary, that was pretty awesome. Love the channel
its very nice, you have to see other places in santiago, saludos
42:20 Hey! I bet you got a Buenos Aires trip (hopefully!). Looking forward to that vlog 🥳.
Oook oook oook lol … great narration from Daren. 3 post red rules lol . Cool vid as usual thx for posting/ sharing
10:54 So weird watching OLMUE waypoint here. Hope you've enjoyed your stay in Chile
Darren my man... You had dreadlocks!!! Boy who would have thunk, would have loved to see that😃😃
great channel sir, gretings from santiago 🎉
I just subscribed to your channel, enjoying it so far! I wanted to become a pilot and end up getting into auto cad & drafting and still enjoying it!

Can't wait to catch another Live and another video!!
Chevy blazer ev has the garage on the dash ;)
Typo? I have a Equinox EV
Glad you got to go someplace new, even if it was via MIA (my home airport and yes, elevators and moving walkways seem to always be out of service!).
Thank you for sharing. I truly enjoyed watching your videos and seeing what you have done, keep it up take care
Thanks for watching!
I was hopeful I’d see my friend on this one! I have a buddy I used to fly citations with years ago who’s MIA 777
I might have flown with them. I do my best not to film coworkers without their consent. Even then I very rarely tell anyone that I have a UA-cam page.
@ he’s been at AA for maybe 7-8 yr now Started on the Airbus in DFW and is 777 MIA now Paul Kane
Hola Darren , saludos desde Chile, ojalá puedas volver!
🇨🇱
I hope for next time Frankfurt (Germany) ;) looking forward
Woah you wear cowboy boots when flying ? so you are a cowboy pilot ? That’s so cool . Will definitely be wearing a leather jacket as a pilot can’t wait .
Cowboy boots are just comfortable. Not really cowboy pilot.
Saludos desde Chilee!

Have you ever flown with Captain Steve? He’s also on the 777 for Kirkland and has a channel named character health. He has a similar outgoing personality like you.
It is what it is as far as the trip. The all nighters deep South are not my thing. Haven't flown with Steve yet.
Mco customs is terrible
Fun video. Enjoy FRA.

I think it was a DFW crew. I believe they do military contracts. They go senior. I haven't done them yet.
Funny saying flying the plane is the easy part! I worked a large transit agency that was union! The work was the easy part. Knowing the work rules and pay and BIDDING scehuldes every three months was the pain in the neck! It was a good job with great pay. GO UNION!
You are Gustavo Frinck? 😅 it's a joke, greetings from 🇨🇱
Flight attendants were being a little too cautious, Santiago is very safe!
Likely. I felt fine walking around
I think they were just messing with him lol. It is safe!
Santiago is less safe than a few years ago and we Chileans haven’t got used to our new reality, but Santiago is still safer than cities like LA and Chicago

Hope You get to buenos aires one day, AA flies this destination with 777-200 and -300ER. cheers from Argentina
Was there just this week! Video in about two weeks
Why power tools?
I want to hear the power tool story.
JW, yes definite cult 😅

legal tio
Have you ever tried doing the timeline with your vids where they are segmented into different labeled sections?
I do it every now and then. Punished this one while in a trip so I didn't have time (very slow hotel Internet with a 13 gigabyte upload!).
Is it common for pilot lounges at bases to have showers?
Not at the airline I work for. There are gyms at some airports that have showers
Random as in picked by tsa for a more thorough search?
I don't get into security stuff in detail
When did this flight take place? I recently flew on a 777 from MIA to SCL, like 3-4 weeks ago
Departed November 12th arrived the morning of the 13th.
@ oh, thank you, but I tajes the flight that departed on november 10 and arrived the morning of the 11
Just a day before
What's up with your glasses Darren? Half black and half white frames? Lol
What camera do you use to rec your videos? Flysafe
Multiple. Pixel 9 pro, iPhone 15 pro and DJI Osmo 3
Are there no crews based in Miami to take this trip?
There are by sometimes they run out of pilots and borrow from another base
What’s the average hours a week you work?🤔
Complicated. Hours flown and hours on duty. For a London trip 10 and a half hours duty day 1 with 9 hours of flying and 12 hours duty with 10 1/2 hours flying on day 3
Can you do a video explaining your salary and how much you can make in a year if you maximize every chance you get to work
Possibly. The maximum is very subjective and rare and has a lot of gotchas. I will do an end of year wrap up.
Hey Darren, you mentioned that your FB was about 5000 numbers senior to you, however new on the 777. If both of you were to bid on the same flight who would get it? The one if more seniority or the one with more experience on type?
Always seniority.
@ thanks! 🤩
So … am I understanding correctly, even though you are based in Dallas, you can bid for a trip starting at any of your pilot bases?
Yes but this trip was designed by scheduling so they had to deadhead me from and return me to DFW. I can bid for trips out of anywhere but it is my responsibility to get myself there and back
@ that’s really cool
Darren, what is the longest 777 flight operated by your airline that is manned with only two crew?
There's transcons and I think just one JFK LHR day time flight that is two pilots.
Hey Darren, does the deadhead flight count towards your Flight Duty Period?
Depends. If it's anything by the very last leg of a sequence yes. The last leg I could deadhead for 24 hours straight. That would be FAA compliant but not union contract compliant.
Seatguru is now worse than ever and not being updated anymore. Aerolopa is by far the best seat guide and worth a look.
Have you ever gotten a number from atc 😂😂
Yes. It's not always a bad thing. Reason you're asking?
1983G
No idea what this means
1983
What does 1983 mean?
Yeah I think they belong to a cult too. Strange and very odd literature 🤷🏽♂ Great seeing Santiago through your lens!
Hi Chilean here, they are indeed people who share the cult of the Bible, usually Christians, Catholics or Mormons. It is quite common to see them on the streets and sometimes also with a giant speaker hahaha
@@fideoloco830 Interesting indeed. I'm Catholic and have never seen this type of literature. Even in Thailand, the Buddhist pamphlets differ from these. 🤷🏽♂
I’ve seen them in every county I’ve visited and often in tourist areas in the United States. Saw them this week in Galveston, TX.
100% cult
