Splendid to see another T5-R brought back to life. I can't believe it, this model has reached the status of "first start after XX years". I love my 850 and I love to see that another one of its brothers is alive!
Hello V.E.G. , liked your post and was sitting her waiting in intense anticipation of the start up...was pretty touch and go in the beginning. Great that you got her started on your first attempt at doing so after so many years.....and then i realized that your post is over two years old...so i am sure the fate of your car has probably already played out. I will certainly look at your other post. Jim(aka ...My Volvo Life/World)from California....and a 99 V70 R Lazer blue wagon and a 95 850 R Butter sedan owner... Roll on 🚙🇸🇪
Hi from the UK 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧 I own a black 95 ' 850 t5r estate with 78000miles and I love it, surprise so many new "fast" cars with it especially on the motorways!! Accelerates from 70 like most cars from start!! 👍👍👍
Congrats man! Just subbed, got a 2000 V70R myself so it's awesome to see an old "barn find" T-5R being restored! Looking forward to seeing more videos as it gets better :D
This is the channel I have been waiting to link up with. I have only one project so far, my 98' V70 has been my daily driver for 9 years and is now upgraded with many goodies. Really appreciate all the unique Volvos you have!
Good to see another T-5R put back on the road. But, before starting her up. In really wished you had pulled the injector relay off as well as pulling the king lead off the coil to allow the engine to spin over and start to build oil pressure before starting it dry. Good to see you wanting to put another on back on the road
That’s actually a really good I deal. I hadn’t thought about that. I tried being as meticulous as I could when it came to starting it up but surly there’s always something that’s will slip my mind. Live and learn👍
I would definitely lock the timing and remove the cam cover/carrier and prime the valvetrain I would even consider removing the cams and taking out the lifters and prime oil in valve holes and smother the seals for sure.... 15 years on any engine of not running is going to be completely bone dry at the top end.... 😬 other than that dude brilliant job... I’m in the process of rebuilding the top end of my 98 C70 coupe.... they are epic EPIC cars.... Hello from the UK 🇬🇧 by the way 👋
If you rebuilt an engine sitting for weeks or years you would not just simply put oil in and go would you. You would put assembly loob in everything! I would being a mechanic of 18 years!!!
Nice! I'd start finding out why all the idiot lights are on and why the gauges are dead. But good job so far. Also, consider replacing the fuel tank vent hose, they cause a leak of fuel on filling the tank all the way. It's a $13 hose from FCP and two hose clamps!
I like the way you think! The vent hose on the top of the fuel tank was replaced before the fuel tank was installed. Also that is definitely going to be the next thing I look into. Thanks for watching the video!
Ahhh That magic moment when she starts and idles. Pure gold! Love he content, please keep it coming.

Wow...what a gem...awesome find. You lucked up on that dash being in that condition. I love my 96 850R.
The previous owner put 3 sunshades up before it was parked. I think that’s the only reason that dash didn’t fall apart😂

Andrew Denton He mentioned that he did an oil change before attempting to start it...

11:30, The start up
Could the coolant light be on because there is no coolant expansion tank? :P I really couldn't see it there, but I'm guessing it's hiding somewhere?
Yeah the car didn’t have any coolant in it yet because I’m waiting on my new radiator to come in but I’m sure that’s why the light was on.
@@volvoenthusiastsgroup3386 Ah, I see you mentioned that already in the video. Helps if I listen :P
👍🏻🏴🇬🇧
did you change the timing belt ? its probely not that good after all thos years
I don’t know how I forgot to mention that. But I replaced the timing belt and water pump. One of the first things I did.
How long before your side kick is on video ?
I've heard he's making a 240 rear main seal video. So hopefully soon.
how old is the timing belt?
I replaced the timing belt and waterpump before starting it up.
Change the oil pump there notorious for going wrong
