    Hey bro couple quick questions. Is this a usdm or jdm engine head? What brand of cam is this? Did you use after market valve springs? are you using adjustable cam gears? did you have to use a degree wheel to adjust cam using gear? Did you initially have to amchine the head to accommodate the stage two cam? really appreciate your feed back.

    What cams do you guys recommend for a 2010 subaru impreza wrx 2.5T?

  • @JordieG8
    @JordieG8 6 років тому +3

    Use denatured alcohol on the gasket surfaces. Also, torque wrenches aren't overly accurate at that little torque. I would have just started with the inch lbs wrench and stuck with it.

    Subaru's the only vehicles were there are no clear instructions you check multiple manuals it will give you different instructions than your Subaru mechanic will give... thanks i was recommend to do my caps all to 18-24nm so will slightly change it up :)

    Are these just a drop in with a turn or would I need to upgrade some other stuff in the engine?

    • @ParkerTheBasshead
      @ParkerTheBasshead  4 роки тому

      I believe you would need to upgrade springs, retainers, buckets and probably valves. At least that is what I did

      Parker Dacchille ahh ok. Is there a kit with everything included that I could buy? New to tuning. Plan on having a professional performance shop take care of labor and stuff I don’t know.

    • @joshmorrow424
      @joshmorrow424 4 роки тому

      Bit late. BC has 2 cam options for 272. The 0621 kit (IIRC) will drop right in. HOWEVER regardless you should do springs. They don't do the best with factory cams higher in the rev range as it is.
      My personal opinion is stay away from titanium retainers on a street car. They aren't exactly easy to get to if you need to on a H motor. Otherwise yes, Manley, BC, GSC, and probably more all make kits. Stick with single springs not dual unless you really wanna shoot for the moon....

    Nice video but I would say to not spread the sealer gasket maker, just run a thin line where needed and when torqued down it will spread and seal properly. If you spread it not going to work good just my opinion but thanks for your video

      Not the heads themselves but the buckets had to be right thickness

    do you think it may be posible to upgrade cams without removing the engine?
    once I changed my gasket valve cover but I didn't know about cams upgrading and I didn't take a look on them
    also I would like to ask if you tested with your new set up, any reviews

    • @ParkerTheBasshead
      @ParkerTheBasshead  5 років тому

      jonny bgood I’ve heard of people doing it but it would be a huge pain.
      You’ll be better off pulling the engine in the long run.
      And I love the cams. Will need a good tune tho. Car runs rougher at idle since I don’t have AVCS

    • @jonnybgood2810
      @jonnybgood2810 5 років тому

      yes sure is gonna be pain but I have no plan to rebuild my block yet.
      About performance did you get more power just with no tune?

    • @ParkerTheBasshead
      @ParkerTheBasshead  5 років тому +1

      jonny bgood I have a break in tune on it now. You won’t noticed a difference in power unless it’s tuned and pushing a good deal of boost/timing etc... what engine do you have? EJ205? EJ257?

    • @jonnybgood2810
      @jonnybgood2810 5 років тому

      I see hope you share review when tune it's done. Mine is a MY03 Forester Xt EJ205 block but I have read in some forums that the Forester got smaller cams that's why I am searching info to see if worth upgrading it or not

    • @ParkerTheBasshead
      @ParkerTheBasshead  5 років тому +1

      @@jonnybgood2810 I'd look into upgrading to STi cams. That way you may not have to upgrade valves, springs, etc... Will try to get a review up soon!

    For any Subaru N/A motor, especially the generations of 1996-1999 EJ25 DOHC cam end caps (closest to the cam sprockets) those are only 8ft lbs, the remaining caps from the middle to the firewall are torqued to 10ft lbs, NOT 14.5, you will snap the heads off these bolts even if they are brand new. Some people might see this video and get confused and think they can transfer cam cap torque specs from one Subaru to another but that’s not the case, if you have an N/A rebuild or race build I suggest doing 8ft lbs then 10ft lbs like I said, the grade and thickness of these bolt don’t even matter, I’m telling you they will snap right off. The FSM is incorrect, don’t believe me then call the Subaru Dealer and have an experienced technician explain it to you.

    DUDE! You must check all the cam buckets with a feeler gauge to make sure all are in specification the cams came with a data card: www.briancrower.com/makes/subaru/cam_card/bc_0621.pdf see the line that says valve clearance. You must obtain that number by measuring and changing buckets as necessary to get the proper clearance. Or you could waste your entire motor with metal filings from wear caused by improper clearances. It means torque the cams, measure, remove, change buckets, install again, torque, measure again. ALWAYS USE NEW BUCKETS WITH A NEW CAM.

      MrFokdieANC I love them. They sound amazing. My car is non AVCS so they really lope at idle. Only issue is that since I am non AVCS the car idles pretty roughly when decelerating and coming to a stop. Just has trouble getting the rpms back up to idle and on very rare occasions dies.
