I would have Jessie and James go back to kanto, so James can get growlie back and take the gym challenge and Jessie can try to become a star or actress, they would still travel together of course.
I really enjoyed this re-write! Not only does it make sure Team Rocket does not have a long overstay like last time, but we also get to see more development from the Johto team. Though, if there was still a need for a problem-of-the-day, I guess Cassidy and Butch could have done it, but I wouldn't have wanted to see them in every episode. Looking forward to your next rewrite!
Oh THANK GOODNESS you didn't remove Phanpy, and instead gave it more development. Phanpy is my favorite of Ash's Johto mons (probably because it's just my favorite Johto Mon)
Great job! I i love seeing ash’s johto captures getting more work done on then than what they got in canon, it makes sense why you didn’t use ash’s kanto pokemon for certain battles like charizard being used in the last gym battle for example! But definitely agree with the fact to have bulbasaur and heracross swap places in your timeline than what it was in the original, and same goes with other characters like casey getting more development definitely I agree with team rockets not being able to try to catch pikachu because they running gag was just so repetitive and anoying, their good villans but the whole pikachu obsession was just dumb in my opinion, it was probably better for them to quit in johto any ways plus I love the send off that you gave them just by having Giovanni disband team rockets, besides all that I can’t wait to see what’s in stores for hoenn. 😁👍
I really like that you had Ash return bulbasaur to Oak’s lab instead of heracross, it made absolutely no sense as to why they made Ash catch a heracross and then just give it back to Professor Oak almost immediately and have bulbasaur go through an entire second region. Heracross had so much potential to be Ash’s Johto ace
Thanks. I'm glad you liked that change. Yeah, Bulbasaur really overstayed his welcome in Johto, and I thought this made the most sense to get him off the team quickly. It was so obvious I have no clue why it didn't happen in canon. Whether Heracross was to be an 'ace' or not, he certainly deserved way more attention than what he got. It's bizzare that he was never used in any gym battle despite there being so many perfect opportunities against like 4 Johto leaders.
@@sakuraa1770 100% agree, I’ve been told that the reason as to why early fighting types like heracross and primeape didn’t really get time to shine was because their battle style heavily involved punching, kicking and other melee forms of combat which probably wasn’t allowed to be shown excessively in children’s media at the time, but I’m not even sure if this is true or just a theory
@@nojorooney That can't be true, otherwise many shows would just straight been canceled back then. Besides, even if that was true, all they had to do was portray their moves differently to get by that.
@@sakuraa1770 yeah that’s true, it also doesn’t make sense as to why they would allow Ash to catch them anyway if he wasn’t allowed to use them excessively, it does kinda make some sense as violence in kids shows was much more strict back then, even up until the early 2000s usually shows would have to either come up with their own combat system or cut between a character throwing a punch and the other character flying so you can’t see the punch connect. But again there are a whole lot of problems with this theory that I highly doubt it’s true, it was just something I was told.
@@nojorooney Exactly. Sadly, I think the issue is just that they wanted to show off *catching* a lot of Pokémon, but only really wanted to promote the starters back then, so they rarely ever showed the others battling or getting development.
Another banger what if. Also, I loved the choice of giving Brock Larvitar and the fire type tournament. Charizard, not winning the blackthorn badge, was surprised. The only complaint I would have is Giovanni disbanding Team Rocket, it wasnt bad, it just felt a little....you know, odd
I'm glad you liked those changes. I think Giovanni disbanding the group is fitting, since it is something he does in the original RB games. I just thought Johto made more sense since it is more like their true ending.
I would’ve preferred more Charizard. I got what you were going for in the battles by giving more wins to Ash’s Johto Pokémon, but Charizard will forever be my favorite. Still, it does make it easier to accept the loss against Harrison in this rewrite because I feel like the only reason he lost to Blaziken in the anime was to promote Hoenn.
I mean, Charizard got his time to shine in Kanto, so there really wasn't much reason for him to get much attention in Johto over the actual new captures.
I'm cool with the johto series, but some things should and shouldn't have happened like 1. Ash's bayleef, cyndaquill, totodile and phanpy should have evolved 2. I'm cool with jessie getting wobbuffet, but she should have kept lickitung 3. All the times James used victreebel for battle, instead of weezing, jessie should use lickitung, instead of arbok 4. In the episode here's looking at you elekid, James should have sent away Lickitung after jessie sent away his second victreebel
@@sakuraa1770 Phanpy not evolving in johto never really bothered me since yeah he did get it kinda late. Kinda Wish it went training to do that Ambarite thing that Donphan Trainer did! Though that episode does bring up a lot of questions.
ashs cyndaquil as a female. i like it even i though that and caught in a fast ball though even i would have cyndaquil evolve in the battle with jasmine. Heracross is fine in a standard pokemon. and i will keep ash vs clair as is and i would have ash keep larvitar and brock keeps fortress in a fast ball and especially Vulpix
Personally, I would keep Ash's Cyndaquil/Quilava as a Male, while Dawn's is a Female. and if Ash evolved his Cyndaquil within the Gen 2 series either against Jasmine's Steelix or the supposed Fire Tournament (in which I liked), then some time in the Battle Frontier or in the Gen 4 series in canon, Ash would have the OG Typhlosion while in the Gen 8 Series, Dawn will have an Hisuian Typhlosion.
The main reason I couldn't evolve Cyndaquil in this saga is because it would have directly contradicted my Unova rewrite, where she evolved in the PWT. But that would still be an interesting idea if I had to go back an do it!
@@sakuraa1770 Yeah, and heck, the idea of Team Rocket disbanding after the "Lugia Saga" was the best idea that nobody ever thought (as if I know of), but I still think that it would've been covered during the Orange Islands, but Team Rocket would've escaped to Johto. Then in my own take, they would have gone after Ho-Oh & The Legendary Beasts, Giovanni and some of the others members (Jessie & James included) will escape again while most of Team Rocket gets caught by police. After Ash's Final Battle Frontier, Team Rocket Strikes one last time with the help of Deoyxs in Saffron's Silph Co. to go after Latios & Latias, and if they did catch even one of them, then they will go after Mewtwo to re-captured him, but of course Ash & his friends will defeat them all and this time, Giovanni had nowhere to run as Team Rocket has been disbanded...for now until they return in the Sun & Moon series.

I really don't think he needed that many Pokémon. Having a bigger rotational team just makes it harder to divide up the screen time. I guess the only other option would be giving him only one of the johto starter to make more space on his team. Then if they really wanted Ash to have and keep larvitar, he could have gotten it early.
