My company makes model ships. Most are warships and Patrol Boats. I wanted something majestic for 2021 release. Bluenose was the first ship that came to mind. Her close sister Lucretia also. Everything doesn't need to be a warship. The story of Captain Walters and his beloved schooner is one that deserves honor and remembrance. Godspeed Skipper. See you on the other side. Canadians should be ashamed of themselves if Bluenose II isn't preserved for all the ages to marvel at!!
When I was in elementary school we sang a song about old Bluenose, the fastest sailing ship… I was just watching shows about shipwrecks and remembered this… you’re video is the most comprehensive video on UA-cam about Bluenose, but no mention of a song about her. Maybe my memory is just off and there was never a song.
The Bluenose was owned by Angus Walters, who was the Captain of the Bluenose. Technology overtook the Bluenose and she was not able to compete with the new diesel trawlers. Angus Walters could no longer afford to maintain the Bluenose so economic necessity resulted in he sale. She ran aground on a reef off the coast of Haiti. Would you prefer that she rot and sink at the dock?
I actually acquire an old schooner model of Bluenose today. So pleasant to find your video. Certainly a beauty and a pedigree to admire.
