It wouldn't be a Sydney Plant Guy video without Brad's tail tracking across the screen at some point. Great video. I have learned more from you than any other UA-camr and am in awe of your plants.
I get to the end of the video hearing you say “I hope I inspired you to chop up your plants” and realize I’ve been in a chopping trance with 8 cuttings in front of me 😂 love this new series! Where are they now seems like a great name.
Jan.... I'm very happy today. (Your shorts video this morning cheered me up because I'm very busy today.) In the morning I started with gardening ( together with my elder brother), then I go to the market, continued to cook for lunch ( I am a vegetarian so I cook it myself. I love cooking.) After taking a short break I learn German, then drawing and coloring ( as my favorit hobby). I accompanied my elder brother again taking care the plants until 04.00 pm, continued to cook for dinner. Now I am going to sleep. Jan...I like this video...great content. I can get new infos from your experiences....a continuous process of loving plants. Taking care of plants makes me able to love my life more too. Jan...You once said " Brad and Plants are the best thing to wake up to". I and my brother imitate you "Our fish and Plants are the best things to wake up to" also. Bitte mehr solcher Videos. Jan.... Ich danke dir sehr....😊💚..
OK.... Jan, You deserve the happiness of sharing your great experiences with us. Jan....just this morning my acquaintance gave me a monstera (a new cutting) that has 2 large leaves. I'm grateful that I have a new experience again. Jan... Thank you so much for everything... Du bist groszartig!...👍🥰💚
Jan, Thank you for showing us all how these aroids mature. For years all we saw where immature plants on social media ignorant of how large and beautiful they can become! I've been switching my aroids to this method slowly but surely, and already I see improvements. Thanks for teaching us how to grow large aroids! :)
I watched this video on New Years Eve surrounded by “the year in review” stories online and on my morning news. How about naming this series “A chop in review”? I love the format, but it seems like a lot of work for you to bring it to us in such a complete way. I love your generous spirit and I’ve learned so much! Thank You.
If I'm being honest, I've only watched your videos for these plants as I have all of them. Happy I did because it was definitely informative and helpful but also entertaining to see how you document your journey ☺️
Yes please, love the “Where are they now?” updates. I’m so impressed the 2 into one moss pole experiment worked so well…brilliant way to get a more lush effect long term without having to plant juveniles on the pole with the mother and wait for them to catch up. Clever ! I started my moss pole journey about 3 months ago and have just attached my first extension ‘cause it’s reached the top already. You have been such a good teacher !!
Wow... the SPG plant God had root rot?! But of course, the plant thrives regardless. You are amazing!!! I can't get enough of all your gorgeous plants. Thanks for sharing your experiences. I have learned so much and look forward to each video!
Obviously we want more updates, I watch every single video of yours and cant get enough of it, as for the name of the series, maybe Chop&Regrow would be good?
Hi. Great update video. Perhaps you could try notching above the empty nodes to force new growth ? Suggested title: “Remember This?” (It could be applied to plants, methods, equipment etc. etc.)
Brilliant . Love these Videos. Most reliable information out there. I appreciate you sharing your experiences. Obviously, you know what you're talking about. Just finishing up the greenhouse build. been making Moss poles and potting Plants up Thanks for sharing "start small" already having success following your advice.
I'm growing an epipremnum cebu blue because I like the look of yours so much, something about the floppy feeling to the leaves. It's just a skinny lil baby on the bottom of a moss pole now I'm so going to enjoy seeing it mature, thanks Jan.
Hi, I've just discovered your channel and am so excited to start following your helpful advice. I started with one monstera in soil and in lockdown I propogated 5 new plants however I have just learnt about moss poles and small pots thanks to you and I cant wait to get started with my moss poles and a proper aroid mix. Love all your videos, thanks for all you advice and I will keep you posted of my progress.

Excellent :) that has given me more confidence on the atabapoense chop when it needs doing thanks! You should defo do revisits! Gives us a great insight into those of us that are following your methods. Thanks!
Your micans in the background is stunning. You give a whole new vibe to the average shelf plant. Thanks for broadening our planty horizons. Brilliant as always Jan. Happy New Year. 👏🙏
Great video Jan. Thanks for sharing your findings with us. Really appreciate your transparency. Yes a regular 3 monthly update on 3 specimens at a time would be a great series to look forward to. Showing the proof of what you anticipated would happen after propagation is very interesting to me. May be you could play around with the following as a title to this series: "Where are they now?: 3 monthly report/update on *insert name of plant and the date of the last Chop-&-Extend (C&E)*"
Definitely want more updates! Consider "The Plant Chronicles" as the name for your growth updates. ie... The Plant Chronicles: Epipremnum pinnatum vartiegata, Philodendron atabapoense, & Epipremnum pinnatum 'cebu blue'
Yes, this is a valuable learning format to juxtapose cause and effect. Nice work, always innovating. Possible titles for these video features: Back to the Future . . . or . . . Brad's Time Machine . . .
I absolutely love your channel esp newbies who get into plants it’s nice to see how the mature plants look so they know if it’s the right choice or not, plus you give a lot of information and I see other tubers copying your chop and prop, and almost all channels do not have plants as big as yours to each their own but I think you should have a million views on each of your videos. I find myself rewatching just so I can see the plant again lol And of course we love brad ❤
Hey Jan! Do you think a small 2 leaf cutting Philodendron Glorious is ready to grow on a mosspole? Since it'll need a decent pot size already to even fit the mosspole? Thanks in advance! ✌️🌱
There has been a lot of debate about this on instagram when it was still smaller. Some say it is one, some say it definitely is not. Plant names are tricky, as often people describe them wrong in the first place & then pass on the wrong name... ultimately names are just names :)
Love the update video! Also have a question, what do you do with the part of the plant that was at the bottom of the pole(the portion with the smaller leaves after chopping and extending)? Just curious
I have been really enjoying your videos. learning a lot. Will you do a video on propagating? I saw in one of your videos you did a high speed side screen of dissecting a pole. it would be nice to see how you get the roots out of the mesh. Are you able to reuse the mesh or does it get destroyed? Thanks ever so much for your time!!
Hey :) i have the original video linked in the description where I adress that a little more. Ultimately not 100% sure what happened. It’s nature after all :)
Pinch yourself.......we love your channel♡♡♡♡♡♡♡ I hope you can take it all in and enjoy the journey......I think Brad is loving all his fans too :) He is a good boy
Root rot is usually caused by poor drainage & aeration of the medium which creates an anaerobic environment (lack of oxygen) which causes the roots to rot. So it's not technically a direct cause of the watering itself.
Hey! Thanks for sharing, I really enjoyed this "how are they now" thing 😊 very interesting! I've been meaning to ask you since I can't really find the perfect items that I'm happy with, where do you buy those garden stakes to support the poles with, and what are they called? Maybe I can't get those exact ones since I'm in Sweden, Europe, but with a name I might find similar. And also the fence/pole material you use, they look perfect in mesh-size! What brand is that or what are they called? I've tried 6 or 7 different ones and none of them really makes me happy, haha. Either the holes are too small/too big, or the material itself if too soft/bendable.. and the one hard material i bought are fixed sizes (tree stem protections) so I can't really make them exactly how I want. Thanks again for great content! I wish you a Happy New Year's eve and a great start of the new year!
Hey :) thanks ! They are just called 'garden stakes' over here. Usually used to grow vegetables like tomatoes or beans. This is the mesh I buy: www.bunnings.com.au/whites-90cm-x-5m-x-12mm-x-12mm-pvc-coated-garden-mesh_p3060823?region_id=117313&gclid=CjwKCAiAkrWdBhBkEiwAZ9cdcCaPDH2OLFLoSDkSy8kt0aXimJkGb5jBe9cn7BOoJi3Q8BXn2nxsbhoCLp0QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
@@sydneyplantguy Hey! Thanks for your reply! I found the garden stakes at Amazon by just searching "garden stake" haha, thank you! :) that mesh looks really great, hopefully I can find the same or similar one over here aswell. Cheers!
If you chop right above the second growth point, the first growth point should be it’s own healthy separate plant with roots sustaining its growth in the pole, and then the third will have the entire lower plant to help it grow up on the moss pole and form a third plant. Just an idea!
please do more of these update videos on your plants! very interesting with the flashbacks
