The best way to win at MoM, put all your book into Death, take the Wraith, summon one and kill every city! This is the fastess way to win, you can also do it with all book in green and take the gorgon, but it's a little slow.
Haha, love the high score screen, which suggests at least 5 other games which all went very, very differently from this one (or maybe only 2 other games that you finished in different ways and had Move Fortress - I know moving your Fortress changes your "home race" for unrest consideration so I guess it might do it for high score too.)
I wish the volume was slightly higher, otherwise I really enjoy seeing Master of Magic videos. I always learn something new from the different approaches other players take. I wasn't even aware of the runamaster/artificer exploit... wow.

I'm totally addicted to this game but runs slow on DosBox. Of all the games I played since the early 1990s, this is the most addicting--my opinion. I've played Sid Meier's games but this has no equal. I've tried different clones... but nothing is comparable.
Reynaldo Mamangun Check your settings. Should run smoothly enough if they are correct. I can't tell you what they are, but trial and error or little googling might prove helpful. I just installed the insecticide patch and happened to try this exac same setting and found out the hard way that that computer has learned to play!

Usually it was the sound that was corrupted if I remember correctly, but there is one version on GOG that runs pretty much perfectly right of the bat. I'm running it on an i7 laptop in power saving mode, so it should be good. Don't forget to download insecticide patch if you haven't tried it out yet and there is also a great ingame help file that's worth checking.
+Reynaldo Mamangun Oh hey I'm not sure if you are already using the option to increase the cycles within DosBox this should speed up the game play a lot for you. I only have an i3 chip and I increase the cycles to about 11k and MoM runs very smoothly for me. To increase the cycles in DosBox choose the window that has Master of Magic running in it and then press Ctrl+F12 and increase the cycles to where you like it. I hope this helped.

WW is imo the best ability in the game. Being able to fly with the entire stack of slow units is just op. All you need is 1 unit with it, preferably a hero who you can also boost with +movement items. Enjoy flying 10 squares per turn with hydras lol...
"Chris the Master Wizard of Chaos".. it has a ring to it. LOL. Anyway I've said it once, and I'll say it again.. Good move picking Tauron, and thereby eliminating him as an opponent. The crazy bastard is hell to play against, since holding any kind of pact is impossible, and he loves raising volcanoes. The asshole. If I play against Tauron I always make a point of killing him first. The only enemy player worse is Rjak, but luckily everyone hates him more than you, so he's almost an asset at times, if it wasn't for his goddamed city curses.
ahhh the classics :) I miss this game, wish they would reboot/or something with it. I am surprised you didn't use White Magic-healing and the hero Torin, makes it so easy to win.
I take that back, the 11 spell books with Wraiths is pretty quick in terms of beating other wizards ( they still can't take tough monsters though ). However I've always considered 11 spell book strategies kind of cheap, even for me. Torin is not as great as you might think unless he gets some items or has a lot of levels.
The "Vizier" is the AI you can put in charge of your production. I never, ever use him, yet I was still surprised to see just how bad and random it was. Sure, let's immediately stop upgrading cities and build a bunch of galleys on a large land map... It might be a fun challenge run to see how well you can do with auto-battle and grand vizier turned on the entire game.
I come from the future, 2023. Now there is a remake of Master of Magic, but it's not that good. Let's just go back and replay the original once more. xD
If you liked "Masters of Magic" then your probably like this. Try "Conquest of Elysium 4", a fast playing, turn-based strategy game. Asymmetric gameplay is the name of the game here, as all the classes play differently, greatly impacting where you go, which resources you choose to prioritize, even which resources you have access to. The random map generation is very good, as is the AI; you will be crushed if you are not careful. It also has different "ages" you can select at the start, determining all sorts of things... Additionally, it does not have merely 1 "underworld", it has an underworld you can PHYSICALLLY Dig DOWN INTO! And you can dig even deeper if you dare... And thats not even counting the planes you can reach through traveling the seas, conducting dark rituals, or even a portal opening in your own backyard. And these other planes, there always doing their own thing in the background; not just waiting for you to bust in and steal their sweet, sweet mithral and adamantine. They might just bust in on you! That one song in this game sounds exactly like that song from Beauty & The Beast, Provincial Life, or whatever it's called. Master of Magic was released in 1994. Beauty & The Beast was 1991. Hmmm.
A game with no balance...makes it fun to play through multiple times...and has great character creation. Modern games should be more like this...halflings aren't supposed to be good warriors

MoM (1994) was released between Civ1 (1991) and Civ2 (1996) - but in my oppinion, its' graphics and features are far superior to both of them. (Civ1 actually still supported CGA & EGA graphics, which were like... really really ugly ~~)
Used to have an older version of the game where it let me make crazy powered weapons, the new version I just got doesn't seem to allow it anymore. Still fun but miss the old days :D
+Redvines69 It's the item editor included with the game, it's a standalone program that is supposed to use the items you created when giving you random artifacts. Unfortunately with my game I haven't been able to get it to work recently.
Using all death magic and wraiths is the fastest way i've beaten the game on impossible - starting with halfling helps, their elite units come pretty early.
I don't think there is a lot of difference between an 11 spell book strategy and what you did here. The Articifer / Runemaster strategy is well know and just as broken, the only variable is getting the right hero to put the uber artifacts on. Face it, a flying magic immune that shoots high power magic bolts is pretty broken. Only a few monsters in nodes and towers can beat it and nothing the AI does can harm you if you play carefully and have recall. Even then you came close a few times ;)
This is strange, you are getting options that I don't get when playing the game, such as raze city and my magic spirits cant water walk. Also I am not getting book when taking out monster hideouts.

Hahaha a crazy way to play. :P You did not take any nodes, they would have boosted your spell power a load and then you could have trained up the other heroes and given them artifacts, instead of just using 1 guy to do everything.
i dont care of sequal, but fix the game to more appropriate play. like do not make me send guardian spirit 1000000 times per game with 1000000000 clicks, make it auto, if the computer sends thsese all the time. time after time, it is tiring. like enemies keep on sending engineers for a main wiz to cast 2000 magic power, it is boring. if you want to destory my city that easily , make me rebuild easily, city buffs during simple combat must stay after combat, it you want to dispell 100 times per combat, make it put all those back with 1 click, do not make me a mouse clicking slave or a robot.

I was still playing this game until a few years ago...it makes you go to a magical world, one of the best games EVER

Every time I start on impossible.. all the enemy wizard cities are fully built

You have to beat it with PURE wizards, though. And ALL the races.
I always choose face of Tauron for the same reasons, myrran alchemist and warlord and I use trolls or barbarians as a starting race

I had this game so long ago but couldn't get it to work on my computer did they ever emulate it to Steam or something else?
I use the GOG version which works pretty well on modern computers.
