His partner in the expedition, Jean-Lois Michel, who did a previous search, missed the ship by 900 feet.
I can't imagine anything more terrifying than being in absolute darkness and suddenly discovering a colossal wall that is the titanic. Absolute nightmare fuel..
They found the ship at 2:20 AM. Talk about goosebumps!
Big respect for the submarine ascent recreation. If nothing else it shows how much heart you put into these videos. You deserve lots of credit for that.
Being on Titanic as she went down, or being on board a submarine that imploded. I can't imagine either.
I’ve always wanted to see the damage caused by the ice berg. Seeing as the wreck won’t last forever, wouldn’t it be interesting if the mud and sediment along the starboard bow could be removed??
Imagine how surreal that must've felt for Ballard and his team. To lay eyes on the most grand ship of the early 1900s, after over 70 years.
Imagine stumbling upon this beauty 70+ years after the last time she was spotted. What a feeling that must’ve been.
So wild that at one point for nearly 70 years they just accepted that they’d likely never see it again.
I still have my National Geographic issue that was put out after they found the ship. All the photos were eerie. There was one of a mannequin that was creepy. :)
I was 16 when the Titanic was discovered and it was so exciting. People today take it for granted but at the time it was common belief that she was lost forever and would never be found so to discover her was a thing of wonder
Only 10 years after Titanic has been found, the Wreckage was shot for the movie by James Cameron. It’s incredible when you think about it.
Actually the reason why they left the bottom early on their first attempt during the 86 expedition was because of a leak in the submersible Alvin's batteries Ballard pushed his luck just long enough where he could get a glimpse at the hull
Fascinating its because of you I have developed a fascination with ship wrecks and their causes.
I’m a new subscriber after the OceanGate incident - I like how you tried to recreate the scene with the flashlight and model toward the end. I think most people would’ve said “I couldn’t find any footage” and leave it that. You used your creativity and tried to give us some sort of representation. I admire your passion!
I remember when the Titanic was found. We learnt about it in school and how it was never found. Then a few weeks later, bam, it was found. I was in grade 3.
It's like a ghost manifesting itself out of nowhere. Scary in all aspects.
I wish we had the technology back then to be able to find the ship. Imagine the pictures of the wreck right after the ship sank. That would have been amazing to see.
To be more precise: Tresher and Scorpion wrecks were found in 1964 and 68. Ballard was ordered to make maps and documentation of wrecksites.
Your ingenuity in making this video as ‘Telling’ as possible for a diverse viewership is seriously laudable! In addition to that, your excitement in telling the Finding of the RMS Titanic comes through for us all ~ KUDOS on a Masterful Video, all accomplished with minimal resources..!!!🇬🇧🇺🇸
