The Legacy of Kain was an incredible series. Despite some design flaws in the the later games exist, everything else was spectacular. The art direction, lore, voice acting and overall story were way ahead of their time.
@@Donkehy-puncharello Defiance has several locations where the fixed camera is a detriment to your perspective. It makes platforming significantly more difficult than it needs to be. The Elemental Reavers don't bear much difference in combat, the only thing that differs is the full charge super move but most of the time it's just an AOE attack. Defiance is also kind of a short game, it definitely could have prolonged the story a bit further if they had more dev time.

BO2 had some finicky movement controls (I like the dynamic blocking) and janky realtime cutscenes. Defiance doesn't differentiate Kain and Raziel much in the gameplay department. That enough for ya?

That's not what happened at all? If anything, Raziel saved Kain multiple times, and eventually was the one who made it so Kain could actually challenge the wheel of destiny, and change things for the better, as he was always destined to do, being the guardian of balance.

Kane's corruption in connection to the pillars is what caused his descendants to evolve and devolve so much more than previous generations of vampires Joachim as the Scion of balance did not mutates that far

The legacy of Kain games were the first time I was truly invested in a game story and universe. It is a shame they never finished it but I would be completely okay if they remade all the games in the spirit of the originals not a bastardized reimagining. Michael Bell and Simon Templeman are still alive so we could still have mostly the same voice cast, it is unfortunate we don't have Tony Jay but he will never be forgotten.
Corrupted pillars weren't calling any new guardians. Kain's birth got in before the shutdown. So if he'd killed himself at the end of game 1, full reset happens and 9 babies are chosen. After that refusal, the pillars are busted for a long time. Now there's hope to start them back up again and live through it.
Don't forget the genius of the Hylden. Their curse made it so that if all vampires were wiped out ( and kain sacrifice) the Hylden return to Nosgoth, but. With Kain taking the throne and shattering the final pillar, the Hylden lord of BO2 is released, so their curse was a WIN/WIN, their return was inevitable and most of the games were just puppets on a string
I think that the second generation of vampires looked just as inhuman as the ancients, of course at the beginning when they were fledglings, they had five fingers and toes like humans but over time as you said they became less human with their hands and feet becoming cloven. Elder kain for example looked very inhuman and the same could be said with Vorador. The only main differences between the second and the first generation were that the first generation looked more similar to each other and all had wings whereas the second generation looked more individual looking, with different colored skin and most didn't seem to have wings. I often wondered how exactly did Vorador and Janos Audron make vampires. As it was never fully explained. I know that blood seems to have been involved but I don't think it was just a case of replacing the human blood with vampire blood. It might have also been something to do with the vampire infusing its soul with the human and transferring its essence making the human soul a vampire soul. Because Mortainius used Janos's heart as a substitute. Maybe he witnessed how vampires turned humans into vampires when he lived with the ancients as a child(when he was kidnapped to be turned) and used their method as a template to turn Kain into a vampire. Since he was not a vampire himself, he instead used a vampire heart which probably still had the life force of Janos in it. So it may have been somewhat similar to Kain's method whereas he directly infused his soul with humans but only with dead humans.
That is what I assume. Janos did mentioned wanting their bloodline to endure, so blood has a large role in transforming a human into a vampire and Soul Reaver confirmed that Kain used something to call back their souls, but that it took something out of Kain, something that was limited as all subsequent generations were weaker with five seemingly being the limit to stay humanoid.

No, Mortanius had ZERO idea how vampires sired other vampires. The rumor was that Janos' heart was key to creating vampiric unlife. So he just went off that and used it to set prophecy in motion.

The ancient vampires probabky used some kind of blood magic to turn a living human into a vampire. Poease note that Vorador himself, the first human turned into a vampire, didn't look like the ancients. Also keep in mind that the vast majority of the vampires created by the ancients, and later by Vorador, were subjects of genocidal crusades, so they never had a chance to grow old enough to evolve.
It's Melchiah (Mel-Ky-Ah) not Malakie, not to mention the other mispronounciations which are correctly pronounced multiple times in the games. You'd think you'd bother to get it right when talking about the lore of a world.
I think a soul reaver 2 remake, in the vein of the recent God of War games, would be awesome. The stories of the other games could be left as little pieces of mythology to be found and hinted at, possibly explored more in subsequent games. I think that one would sell the best if they started remaking them
It would be great if the entire series was remastered, although saying that since Blood Omen 1 was originally a top-down 2D game whereas the other four were fully 3D games, in order to use the same physics engine for all five games and thus keep each games aesthetic as close to each other, (So no matter which of the five games are being played, they'll all have a similar enough user interface.) it'd require the dev. team to take the whole game's map and convert from 2D -3D.

After all, that's really what Moebius was planning on, when he told Kain that he knows his destiny and he's going to die (before being, himself, killed by Kain, at the end of Blood Omen 1). Furthermore, I seem to remember the first and most important signs of disturbances manifesting when Raziel refuses to kill Kain - not just a few moments later, when Kain saves him from the Reaver. Besides, Kain saves Raziel yet another time, when he warns Raziel that the blade is trying to consume him, instead of using that opportunity to save his own life, at the end of Defiance - and that does not cause a paradox. I may be remembering a few things incorrectly, but I do think that paradox was cause by Kain still being alive at the end of Soul Reaver 2 - not by Kain saving Raziel.
No, Kain was supposed to die In soul reaver 2. Because Kain looked into Mobius' time stream, he had the weapon on knowledge he needed to throw the coin on its edge. All of it was a gamble to fight an enemy he didn't even know he was fighting.
I don't know if there should be another installment this late in the day, and the reason for that is the voice actors. All the voices need to be spot on, not just the writing. If that could be done then I would love another game. If not though it would be an unnecessary tarnish.

The Hylden put a blood cure on the vampires cutting them off from the wheel and in turn the vampires built the pillar and sent the hylden to a demon realm and used the pillar as a lock and key to keep them from r Elam forever. If Ariel was smart she wouldn't have let Kain have an option to reject saving Nosgoth. I also like Blood Omen 2, especially how Kain got the dark gifts of his enemies with my favorite being Jump you get from Faustus, other than Mist that can has at the start.
"Shades cast no shadow," sounds like it means Kain chose to be a ghost like Ariel in the Sacrifice ending, meaning he passed from the world without his shadow looming over everyone for centuries like when he chose to doom everyone in the other ending.
The "other"ending you are referring to is the actual ending. The ending that doesn't exist is the peaceful one which is not what would've happened. The pillars would have still fallen regardless of the choice Kain made, it would take a longer time for it to happen. A postponing which would've been more detrimental.
They could make a super long game embarking all the previous games. Time traveler's intrusions. Ambient and characters corruptions by centuries. More continuity between BO games and SR. Include the multiplayer versus games, maybe limited to local gaming. Or integrated the humans as playable survivor groups and one epic hero dome to fail... Malek anyone... Or Add the Hilden point of view from the demon dimension. Also they mentioned the possibilities of other elder gods.. The story is not over.
I can only hope Crystal Dynamics decides to release remakes of all the older games so that it draws in newer audience to series so that the franchise goes on a little longer. After releasing remakes of the old games then Crystal Dynamics can release a new game to the series.

I think that the second generation of vampires looked just as inhuman as the ancients, of course at the beginning when they were fledglings, they had five fingers and toes like humans but over time as you said they became less human with their hands and feet becoming cloven. Elder kain for example looked very inhuman and the same could be said with Vorador. The only main differences between the second and the first generation were that the first generation looked more similar to each other and all had wings whereas the second generation looked more individual looking, with different colored skin and most didn't seem to have wings. I often wondered how exactly did Vorador and Janos Audron make vampires. As it was never fully explained. I know that blood seems to have been involved but I don't think it was just a case of replacing the human blood with vampire blood. It might have also been something to do with the vampire infusing its soul with the human and transferring its essence making the human soul a vampire soul. Because Mortainius used Janos's heart as a substitute. Maybe he witnessed how vampires turned humans into vampires when he lived with the ancients as a child(when he was kidnapped to be turned) and used their method as a template to turn Kain into a vampire. Since he was not a vampire himself, he instead used a vampire heart which probably still had the life force of Janos in it. So it may have been somewhat similar to Kain's method whereas he directly infused his soul with humans but only with dead humans.

Janos did mentioned wanting their bloodline to endure, so blood has a large role in transforming a human into a vampire and Soul Reaver confirmed that Kain used something to call back their souls, but that it took something out of Kain, something that was limited as all subsequent generations were weaker with five seemingly being the limit to stay humanoid.

It would be great if the entire series was remastered, although saying that since Blood Omen 1 was originally a top-down 2D game whereas the other four were fully 3D games, in order to use the same physics engine for all five games and thus keep each games aesthetic as close to each other, (So no matter which of the five games are being played, they'll all have a similar enough user interface.) it'd require the dev. team to take the whole game's map and convert from 2D -3D.

After all, that's really what Moebius was planning on, when he told Kain that he knows his destiny and he's going to die (before being, himself, killed by Kain, at the end of Blood Omen 1). Furthermore, I seem to remember the first and most important signs of disturbances manifesting when Raziel refuses to kill Kain - not just a few moments later, when Kain saves him from the Reaver. Besides, Kain saves Raziel yet another time, when he warns Raziel that the blade is trying to consume him, instead of using that opportunity to save his own life, at the end of Defiance - and that does not cause a paradox. I may be remembering a few things incorrectly, but I do think that paradox was cause by Kain still being alive at the end of Soul Reaver 2 - not by Kain saving Raziel.

No, Kain was supposed to die In soul reaver 2. Because Kain looked into Mobius' time stream, he had the weapon on knowledge he needed to throw the coin on its edge. All of it was a gamble to fight an enemy he didn't even know he was fighting.
