Yes I've had a few aoshima models by far my favorite besides tamiya. They are always plenty of fun and come with loads of customization

Squadron sanding sticks. I recognize the symbol. That rear one is typically called the "C" pillar. The center post on a sedan is the "B" pillar

The weird “cone” things you mentioned not know what they were, they go in the wheels they are “turbo fan” to aid with cooling on the brakes i believe

These Japanese silhouette races were the catalyst that spawned the crazy “Bosozoku” road cars in the 80’s. The Bosozoku cars took the huge front splitters, box arches, rear wings and long exhaust pipes to new heights of lunacy. There are a few Aoshima kits in collaboration with liberty walk that give a taste of the first Bosozoku car.

You need an engine for that puppy Matt?! Just finished up a Flathead! LOL! Thanks for the fun shout out buddy!!
I'm really looking forward to this build! A unique racer. I've never seen that one.

"A" pillar is at windshield. Then next pillar towards rear of vehicle is the "B", etc. Great video!

2 tone is just a simple mask and this box art shows a pinstripe above the main black. Hobby tape and some painters masking tape and you got this!

Love the really wide fenders on this car. I'll be watching

    I haven't found any kits at a
ollie's in over a year but I found a nice Ford Trucks Book at Ollie's at a reasonable price a couple of days ago so I picked it up...

Great videos 👍🏼 I'd suggest you go for the two tones, after masking, apply a coat of clear before the color so color won't bleed under the tape.

Good video… Aoshima kits are very nice.. I have a couple of the Hilux Toyota pickup models… no engine but unbelievable suspension and lift kit…the discs with spokes are for cooling.. they fit inside the wheels… shame to cover those beautiful wheels… with your paint jobs, definitely 2 tone it

That chin splitter is HUGE!!!, maybe they use them to clean off the track ( LOL ) don't ever change!, half the reason I tune into your channel is because you go off on rabbit trails ( unlike some guys who think everything that comes out of their mouth should be gospel ), remember a while back when you got that smashed model- it looked like the only thing that was messed up were the A pillars ( other than that, it looked like a fun build )

The Skyline is coming out nice. I've used Dupli-Color, Plasti-Cote and Tamiya primers. All of them in my opinion lay down good and sand easy. Looking forward to part 2. Thanks again Matt for sharing your build with us.

Japanese kits change names a lot Aoshima kits have re-appeared as Nunu and Platz recently. I have LS and Takai kits that are 5 yrs apart and identical. It's sort of a trivia game after a while.

I have Dunlop. My belly Dunlopped over my belt. Datsun was changed from Nissan for the American market in case they failed. That way it wouldn't hurt the Nissan brand.

Concentrate on the build. The Japanese are the best mold makers in the world. Research on this car would yield a lot. "Scoop" things are chimneys. Same for rear radiator exit flair extensions. This car is where "Datsun" figured out the 1000 hp 4 cylinder in a very competitive manufacturer driven series (nee Formula)

Datsun was a key part of the global car market until 1986, when Datsun's owner, Nissan Motor Company, controversially scrapped the brand name in favor of its own.

In Japan it was Nissan and Datsun(exports) in the states. Then it transitioned to Nissan in the states as you mentioned.

a lot of the curbside kits like those are nice and full of great details. They also brag about the engines on a lot of the Tuner types even though they don't have the engines but it would be great to build the kit and have a super detailed engine on a stand beside one of those kits.

Nissan made military vehicles in ww2 so they never wanted to use the name when exporting after the war so they used Datsun for export till the 80s
never built a Aoshima kit but i did pick one up a couple of months ago a London black cab had a look in the box and it looks like a great kit

Rims and tires that's how I was raised as well ...🤔 it's no worse than someone saying Boot and bonnet boots are something one wears on their feet and bonnets is something that one wears on their head. a car has neither to necessitate the need for a boot or bonnet.

Japanese kits are significantly more superior to ANY American kit ever produced. The fit , finish, engineering and manufacturing processes shine through with every kit. Tamiya is the top in quality. Although they can be more expensive, the cost is worth every penny.

Datsun was a subdivision of Nissan started because Nissan wasn't sure Nissan would be successful in the U.S. They were concerned if Nissan failed here, it would be a disgrace to the company. Once Nissan was comfortable that Nissan would succeed, they dropped the Datsun name.
