Why the hummingbird? The easy answer, of course, is that Hughes is on the smaller side of NHL players-but that is NOT the reason. Jack Hughes’ very game brings to mind that most agile and remarkable of birds. He darts in and out of coverage in a most avian manner. He’s quick, and a quick thinker, which earns him more time to make plays than his peers. Add to that some of the quickest hands the game has yet to see, and an unquenchable creative thirst, and you have Jack Hughes, one of the sport’s true marvels.
Hughes scored 99 points over the course of 2022-23, finishing just 3 points shy of 102. As one of the most exciting young offensive catalysts in the league, he’s only just begun to make his mark.

Excellently edited video. Good job and, as a Devils fan, thanks for uploading this. 86 is truly a generational talent and worth the price of admission for any fan of hockey or athletics.
This video will help non-Devils fans get a glimpse into what kind of player Hughes is. Most probably don’t realize just how ferocious he is on the forecheck and back check but in many ways he is the total package.
P.S. LOL at the end credits for putting Dano on the same page as Sir David Attenborough.

I agree bruh! Jack Hughes truly is one of the best of the game himself. He has one of the best handling the puck kinda thing, great handling with the puck and passing greatly in traffic of others on the other team that he is playing against. He will retire the NHL as one of the greatest to play with the New Jersey Devils. He is only 23 if I’m not mistaking. He also knows how to score goals consistently and why he was drafted a few years ago by our Devils at the age of 18! Crazy thinking about just how great he is at such a young age. I’m want the devils to go all the way this year and bring my home the championship.

Im a huge Penguins fan, but man I love watching Jack Hughes play. This kid is going to be a star in this league for a long time he is fun to watch. It took him a couple of years, but we now see why he was the number overall pick in 2019.
