NO. mounting is different. if you go to v4musclebike.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28440 you can see the what has to be done to do what you asked. wornout took 1 year to make brackets, i did it in 2 months using the magna motor and swapping out the vfr parts
On the upper case and the crankshafts. Manufacturers will use different part numbers even if there is a small change, even though it would swap fine. I bet the reason there is a different part number is the different cam drive system. Im 99.99999% sure thats the only difference. You could possibly saved time and money by using the crank and upper case from the VFR. Too bad the whole engine wouldnt swap out easily. Thanks for the video, answered a lot of questions.
The cranks are different from the VFR to the VF. The VFR has two crank throughs. The VF has one. (Correct me if I’m wrong). That VFR crank having the 180° crank throws makes more power. The single throw crank just makes it sound like a Harley.
I have 1985 honda VF1000R , my engine is rusted and seized and i'm looking to remove the engine. Do you know if it is possible to remove the engine like you did from a rolling chassis ? Or strip down everything to bare frame and remove the frame from engine? Guys from VFR forum recommended the latter. Thanks
@motorman341 hey buddy I am in the middle of swapping my 86’ 700 motor out and replacing it with an 82’ 750 motor. Am wondering if you had any issues lining the carbs up with the motor?
I'm impressed, you've done a great job! How close were the cases in comparison, because I want to do the opposite of what you've done! Is it possible you could have fitted the complete VFR engine and changed only the heads for the Magna heads, including the extra valve springs from the VFR? I want the 360 crank in my VFR, so I intend to use the full Magna motor, and swap out the gearbox to the VFR six speed, front head (angled RH exhaust port) and add the extra valve springs to the rear Magna head (mill off the fins too), as the cam chain tensioner mount is included in the rear head only, where as the front is in the cases. Any advice will be gladly received!

Woooww man! I whant to see the end of it and the process as well
Man you are a saint! I want to do this for such a long time.
I just wanted to put some info out there. When I was looking it was just a few pages of clues of what to do
@@motorman341 yes, exactly that. Ran up to the same problem. Some good info you're sharing man
Can you just put the vfr engine straight into the frame will it bolt up with no modifications? Apart from wiring

Can't just use half a block. Because of the Journal bearings. Each block has a code on them tell u which bearing to use. Can't mix blocks
They are line bored, you shouldn't mix different halves.
Any reason why you cant just swap the magna engine with the vfr engine ? without taking them both apart
I'd like to know this as well... thank you
Different mountains
That’s what I was thinking.. easier to relocate motor mounts than what he’s going through
I’m a bit late for the party but is it possible to just swap the transmission gears for that extra gear?
Yes

Wrong gen of bike. I only deal with 1995-02 vf750 magna
Can't you swap the vfr800 engine for the Magna? at least it got fuel injection system.
no clue. I did what I did beacause both motors i used where the same block.
Did you bolt the vfr stator to the magna stator cover? I don’t have the magna stator in front of me so I can’t visually check.
Used Magna stator and cover.
Which book are you follow to rebuilt it?
Both are needed. Vfr750 and vf750
Which year model did you get the VFR engine from?
Rc36e motor
It was used between 1990 to 1997
Mine I think was a 1994 or 1995

awesome!
How firing order on this engine?
Same. Changed out magna cdi for vfr cdi. Timing setup is dfferent
No used magna stator.
How did this go?
4k miles later still running great
Is there a follow up???
Yes 8 vids on playlist on my page. Or more info at v4musclebike.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28440
i got a 93 shadow and a 87 vfr 700 anyone think a swap is a good idea?
Not sure you see what the Magna has. The VF750 Magna has a de-tuned VFR motor stock. the swap give you 20+hp.
I don't know if it's possible. The Shadow is a V-twin, the other is a V-4.
How do you install clutch
Just put the camera in a spot and record everything
