The Keys of Marinus | Doctor Who Marathon From the Beginning | Could This KILL OFF The Marathon!?

- A six-part quest across the planet Marinus takes in different countries, cultures and settings which help set this apart once again from every story which precedes it. But even though there's plenty of variety on show, is this the first story on the marathon where there's a bit of a wobble?
Doctor Who is a BBC property and all clips are presented for the purposes of criticism, review and quotation under the 'Fair Dealing' clause governed by Sections 29 and 30 of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988.

Controversial, this is actually my favourite Hartnell story. Only because I really like that every part was so different and I think the lead actors (especially Hartnell and Hill) are at the top of their game. Also, I appreciate ambition, even when it’s not quite worked, and you can’t deny, this story was ambitious.
I can see why this is well liked for sure, it's just never really done it for me unfortunately. I do think there are plenty more stories to come with far greater ambition but yeah, this is for sure the most ambitious of the first season
I've just watched this story for the first time. I liked it! It reminded me of a classic , slightly trippy Star Trek story. Ok, not a classic but I definitely enjoyed it.
I found this story Ok. Not the best, but enjoyable a bit of a mishmash, its like bits of script ideas which didnt fit into the series or enough to make into full stories, so mash it together as a story.
At 1500 pounds a week, it's amazing they pulled this one off. The Citizen Kane link is fun.
Not a fan of this story or indeed of Terry Nation's writing generally. Probably way too ambitious for what they could achieve then. However, I was once in the cafe in Lambeth palace and a woman asked if she sit at my table. It was Fiona Walker and I plucked up the nerve to have a conversation. We waxed lyrically about Keys of Marinus and Silver Nemesis - two of my least favourite stories in DW history, lol.
