Happy Saturday Sam! Every time I see the jumper you're wearing, I love it even more! And, oh wow, on the. Marlo! I am going to shamelessly copy you for my next Marl., I hope you don't mind. I love the look. Thank you for sharing! I'm so pleased you loved the Galina! I adore mine. It makes me feel all twirly, comfy but put together. Another really wonderful free pattern, from Unfettered Patterns, is a cardigan with short pleated sleeves (although I made mine long sleeved). They don't really give their patterns names, just descriptions. The instructions are sparse, not good for beginners, but it came together perfectly and quickly. I've only recently come across Unfettered Patterns, but their site is full of free PDF patterns.
Oh my Sam, your Marlow is inspired!❤. I’m going to try this. I’ve made many Marlowe’s and yes I need to size down as well. Lovely chat, I love all your makes, thanks so much!
You did a great job on the sagebrush top. Very pretty. I love the Marlo cardigan and the buttons on the waistband. The Galeana dress is beautiful and it fits you to a tee. Your Poppy pinafore is lovely. You look cute as a "Russian doll". 😊 I have one and love it. You are absolutely doing a fantastic job smashing your stash.
Oh so well done! I think the Russian doll dress is fab. I reckon you can get trousers out of your stash squatter, what about Bobs or I'm just thinking about making another pair of Terra pants (PF) which are tapered and a bit cropped. Love your Galena. I had the pattern ready to go for ages but didnt make it ! I might have to join in the stash squatters challenge 😊
I have only done 2 Smash the stash makes , but I am pleased with them both. Love what you have done with yours and look forward to seeing your next lot. The stash squatter for Feb cant help you there, it is a lovely fabric but I have no ideas springing to mind
Thanks for the video Sam. I absolutely LOVE the 'Russian Doll' dress, properly LOVE it!!! It lloks great with the tights and top underneath, and will look great in the summer too. I enjoy watching your videos, and appreciate the time you take to make them, In case you didn't get my drift - I LOVE the dress!!!
I'm loving seeing you smash the stash. 4 fabrics in January is a lot. Well Done. Your stash squatter for this month could look nice as a jacket or shacket. Papercut Stacker or Style Arc Logan. Looking forward to seeing what you do
I love your smash the stash.....I am doing exactly the same thing (I have over 500 fabrics 😬😬😬) so really need to get smashing this year!! Stash Hub stats, although brilliant, freaked me out tbh! I too have managed to smash four fabrics this month!!! Love love love your sagebrush. and the marlow cardigan movement of the buttons was insipired!! The Russian Doll analogy made me howl.....so so funny, especially with your accompanying graphic!! So your dogtooth cotton fabric for next month.... my vote goes for a waistcoat, like the Merchant and Mills Miller. Great vlog, very funny and full of great content. Roll on end of February for the next installment 😜
This video shows your determination to work toward your smash the stash goal -- and very cleverly! Beautiful applications, especially on the Russian doll pinafore! I understand your concern about the 'look' though.
Lovely video, Sam. Love the Galeana dress & a sew along would be great. Last fabric. What about smart shorts. Tights worn underneath for now & bare legs in Spring/Summer. I'm sure it will look great anyway whatever you decide x
All of your makes are lovely, Sam, and your determination to "smash your stash" is fantastic. Throughout this video, I was wondering about the top you are wearing. Did you make it?
@@SewLetsSparkleWithSam no apology necessary. I appreciate the inspiration and pattern name - not that I need another sweatshirt pattern! 😅 It's lovely.
I saw on next some dungarees made out of a herringbone/dogtooth kind of fabric and I’ve been wanting to recreate. The pattern I was going to use is the TATB Safiya dungaree hack.
I love the Galena dress. I have downloaded the pattern.perfect for material in my stash. Really enjoyable seeing your makes and plans. Pants for me from your herringbone material.
The Sew Different Lined Jerkin springs to mind for the last fabric (another free pattern). Cropped black top over the ‘russian’ outfit, hey presto designer skirt 😉
Hi Sam, sorry I didn't get back to you when you trying to decide on what to do with the Russian doll material, I would have made it into a tablecloth. Now I suggest you make it into a really big bag, like a duffle bag or a large tote, make great gifts. Your houndtooth piece this time would make great trousers, but with not enough I would put it back on the swap table. Happy sewing.
You’ve totally motivated me! I sent 3 bags of fabric to our local secondary school. Had a good tidy and trying to buy any unless I make something in my stash. I did send for the strawberry double gauze that I’ve been craving since the summer but it kept selling out. Love your sagebrush gorgeous I love your dress maybe bare legs and T shirt under in the spring xxx
An idea, try a black top on top of your Russian dress. Maybe you’d like it as a skirt. That hem if great! Or add a solid jersey top to the skirt portion since you don’t prefer skirts.
Hi Sam. The 'Russian Doll' dress would look great with your new metallic Marlo cardigan over the top. I also suspect it will look great with the Hanbok vest in that yummy green boiled wool. I'm loving your Smash the Stash series. It's great fun and filled with ideas and unique combinations. Thanks for doing it and providing such wonderful inspiration, Antonia
I really like your Galena dress Sam. I'm quite a fan of swishy circle skirts. I think the indie pattern companies are running out of names for their new designs because, if you remember your chemistry lessons, galena is an ore from which lead and silver are extracted!
I've made the free Styla Laurel dress and it's fabulous. I've made it multiple times for both of my teen daughters. I'll have to try the Galena. Yours looks great.
What about some winter shorts for your stash squatter? Wear with some tights and boots… Love your videos! You are inspiring me to use my stash which is quite a challenge! 😂
Hi Sam! If you have enough fabric I would make a pair of barrel leg 3/4 length trousers for spring from your herringbone stash squatter fabric. Ive seen quite a few trousers in that style of fabric for spring in the shops. Really love your Galena dress, I hadnt seen that pattern before, thanks for showcasing it! Have a super weekend, Amanda 😊
Your makes are all great, i love the Marlo cardigan the fabric is gorgeous, have you tried the Bertha cardigan by Tilly and the Buttons. Great series, i really need to start doing this as my stash is huge. Whilst looking for a fabric the other day i found some lovely gems i’d purchased that need making in to garments.
Hi Sam, your smash the stash makes are great, my favourites are the Sagebrush and Galena, I’ve downloaded the pattern for the Galena and would love you to do a sew along. I think the Russian doll dress is lovely but in my opinion I think it may be too long and I think a cardigan would break up the pattern. ❤❤
Love your vlogs - sorry rarely comment. But love your russian doll dress. Try pinning up the hem above the bottom border, it will take off the square look at the bottom , it might be enough to remove the russian doll feel.
How about a pair of Pietra out of your houndstooth? Or an Ava skirt? You might even have enough for an Ava skirt (or similar) and a waistcoat? Love your sweatshirt and the dresses (including the Russian doll one!) and blouse too.
I have the Tilly & The Button Pearl pattern. Its traced out and just waiting for the fabric which is buried in an ottoman box of fabric. I have 4 ottomans dotted around as I am limited with space. Everything is placed in sealable bags so easier to find the right fabric. I am definitely on a pattern/fabric ban at the moment as I am getting through my stash. I have donated fabric that I know I will never use and that makes me feel less guilty about my stash! What about the Tammy Handmade Simi a line skirt, not much fabric and its a great pattern!!!
Hiya, just watched your video 😊. Had a thought about your Russian doll dress, could you change the neckline to a deep V? That way, it would break up the pattern and take lessen the flower boobies impact. Beautiful fabric, needs to be shown off. Love the galena dress xx
I lovoe the pinafore dress. I think if you want I would separate the top from the skirt. Add a plain color to them and then you have 2 pinafores without looking like a Russian Doll. Just an idea.
What about a pair of culottes so you know you’ll get them out of the yardage you’ve got? Would be nice and practical while you’re in the workshop, etc….
What a shame about your Russian doll dress. It does look lovely but it’s so annoying isn’t it when you have a vision in your head & it doesn’t quite turn out as you were expecting. I’ve had this quite a bit recently & I find it quite disappointing. I recently discovered the Georgie pinafore by Jennifer Handmade & quite fancy making it myself. What about that for your fabric that you’re not sure what to do with? Or a Fibre Mood Kaya?
What gorgeous buttons on the Marlo 💖
Thank you Sam for your lighthearted sewing. You are very encouraging
Oh I love that idea of using elastic for a ruloux loop! 💡
Great video. Yes please to the sew a long if you get a chance 😊 x
Blouse will look lovely in spring and summer w white linen pants! ❤
Sam I am loving Smash the Stash!! Very inspiring and so much fun.
Wow that Galeana is fab, looks great on you Sam! 💖 And a free pattern also, cool 😎

No problem
Copy away my friend ❤️⭐️
Off to search unfettered patterns x
February sew 🧵 fabrics are fantastic
I would love the galena sew along.
Oooh those PJs will be fab! And a good idea to use patterns you also know work well for you…
Wow 😊 zooming through that stash tick tick tick ... fab ❤
Hi Sam! I'm here for the reveal!😅 ...You did great!
Yay! Thank you!

I’ll pop it on the list ⭐️❤️

Love all your makes Sam! I think your last fabric would look lovely as a pair of cropped pants.
I think so too! ⭐️❤️
All of your makes are really lovely, Sam. Your plans for the next group of fabrics sounds great. Happy sewing.😂❤🎉 🇦🇺 🪃
Thank you! 😊
Bomber jacket and trim it with a solid to match the darker thread in the houndstooth.
I’m currently making a Sherpa Bomber jacket, I’m not sure I need another one x
Gorgeous top 😊
Thank you!! 😊

Hi Sam, I think the Galena looks gorgeous on you. It definitely should be a repeat 😊
Oh thank you! ⭐️❤️
Lovely video, Sam. Love the Galeana dress & a sew along would be great.

Great idea! ⭐️❤️
All of your makes are lovely, Sam, and your determination to "smash your stash" is fantastic. Throughout this video, I was wondering about the top you are wearing. Did you make it?
Oh yes, sorry I always forget to mention what I’m wearing.
It’s a Drew Sweater from Tilly and the buttons. Fabric was from See you at Six
@@SewLetsSparkleWithSam no apology necessary. I appreciate the inspiration and pattern name - not that I need another sweatshirt pattern! 😅 It's lovely.

I’m not sure I have enough for dungarees 🧐❤️
I loved all of your makes!
Great video Sam. I would make some shorts of that check fabric.
Great vlog…and I love the Poppy pinafore 😍
Thank you!! 😊

Lovely makes would like to see a sew along for the galena😊
Marlo cardigan looks great 👍

I would make a shirt with brightly coloured buttons with the last fabric
I've made the free Styla Laurel dress and it's fabulous. I've made it multiple times for both of my teen daughters. I'll have to try the Galena. Yours looks great.
Off to check out the Laurel dress!! ❤️⭐️
Oh I love a hanbok vest! The greens will look great. How about a long waistcoat with the last fabric?
What about some winter shorts for your stash squatter? Wear with some tights and boots… Love your videos! You are inspiring me to use my stash which is quite a challenge! 😂
Great idea!!
Great sewing Sam. I use an elastic hair tie for my button loops.
@@andrearyan816 I’ve always got little bits of elastic hanging around ❤️⭐️
Hi Sam - that dress is gorgeous, I will definitely be getting that free pattern. Caroline
You'll have to get yourself on Sewing Bee 😊
I wish the Indie companies would think up names that regular folk could pronounce!😊😊
i think the check will make great trousers x
Love your Russian doll, Sam. All of your makes are great. How about the Tilly and the Buttons Ramona skirt for that houndstooth fabric?✨✨
Thank you
I’m not really a short skirt wearer
I could be persuaded by shorts?
Lovely makes 😊 what about making another waistcoat / body warmer with the check material 🤔
Thank you ⭐️❤️

Yes I’ve made the Bertha.
Best of luck with your Stash smashing ❤️⭐️
Lovely makes! If you want a wonderful free cardigan pattern, try the Sinclair Harper Cardigan. It is wonderful and fits well..
I do have that pattern.
⭐️🤞🏻
Hi Sam, your smash the stash makes are great, my favourites are the Sagebrush and Galena, I’ve downloaded the pattern for the Galena and would love you to do a sew along. I might try that x
The last material maybe a vest????? Or a pair of capris for spring or fall...
Love the dress. I think it has a cool art teacher vibe. I’m not getting Russian doll at all.
Thank you ❤️
How about a pair of Pietra out of your houndstooth? Or an Ava skirt? You might even have enough for an Ava skirt (or similar) and a waistcoat? Love your sweatshirt and the dresses (including the Russian doll one!)
and blouse too.
I do have the Pietra pattern

Hi Sam what about a bestie bag? If you don't need one maybe a present for someone in the family
Yes a bag is definitely an option . I’d probably get 3 besties out of that fabric!

Yes I did wonder about a v neck or even just making it deeper.
Thank you ⭐️❤️
Pietra trousers slim version x
I do have that pattern! ⭐️
The check for me would be a skirt but you said you’re not a skirt person… could you make an apron type garment?

I do love a bit of shorts and tights and boots!!
What about a skirt, a line mini, or pencil style
I think your 'Russian doll' dress looks great - not like a Russian doll at all. What about a short Jacket with your squatter fabric? x
I think it is perfectly ok to look like a pretty Russian doll, but thats just me 😁
What about a pair of culottes so you know you’ll get them out of the yardage you’ve got? Would be nice and practical while you’re in the workshop, etc….
I have wondered about culottes, the pattern that I have and love by Sew to Grow is for a drapey fabric but I could give it a go

I just can’t unsee it now! I’m hoping that I’ll still wear it but with a smile x
