We should not have needed to rely on other teams ... Too many points dropped from winning positions this season. Dead wood need to be moved on and if anyone wants to go let them go!
Couldn't agree more
Yeah, we lost Europe when we lost to Luton and Forest and the winter period. We had a great end of the season to give us hope, but it wasn't enough...!
Bottled the last few games of the season when it was in our own hands. Lack of proper recruitment last season and an absolutely shameful medical team has come back to bite us hard.
A huge summer of substantial squad investment is needed
Agree with this assessment but it might help us come under the radar again like we did two seasons ago. It'll be interesting to see what kind of Tonali we get on his return as he may be a key player next season particularly if Bruno goes.
100%
@@phoenixrisin5848 Tonalli owes us a hell of a lot. I hope he’s one of the few Italians that actually flourishes in the prem but I’ll be reserving judgement.
We desperately need a proper CDM akin to Rodri to shield the back 4. That and a right winger for the starting XI with 4 or 5 quality squad players and we will be in extremely good shape
Nobody but ourselves to blame
Exactly all Howe that's a fact
@AdnanAli_313 The players too! The Crystal Place for example was a complete lack of effort from the players. Howe can prep a lot before but the players have to have the passion and execute it on the pitch also
Yes it terrible that we had more than average injuries 🤔( sarcasm )
@@stephennutkin2477 it was a factor but not the only factor.
We got beat by Chris Wood and managed 1 point out if 6 vs Luton. We didn't deserve Europe. As for manure, lucky draw in the FA cup
100% agrees with Paul's comments and tone.
We were unfortunately far too inconsistent during the season.
Lost a ton of games this year to teams like Nottingham forest , Brighton 3-0 when we were healthy . Luton town , etc . If we can score goals like we did this year and play defense like we did two years ago they will finish top 4 . This team has real potential . But for me the biggest thing I saw was at the end of the year stubborn Eddie finally showed a willingness to change tactics depending on our opponent . He must be willing to continue to be adaptable and not predictable otherwise this team will not win a trophy .
We've finished 4th and 7th despite all our injuries. We got bruno and botman before any European football. We are close to signing kelly and tosin. If we get them then that's positive!
two bang average players
The point hes getting at is they are both bang average squad players, they won't win you the league
No trophies, no Europe next season, no extra income streams. Yes, we had a lot of injuries, but we should have made Europe this year still. There were quite a number of questionable matches/tactics that led to losses points and having to rely on Man city on the last game, which is unacceptable for this club. Hopefully, we bounce back quickly next year, and this doesn't negatively affect our transfer window this summer ( I fear it will). Up the Toon!
I don't think anyone will choose not to come to NUFC just because we're not in the Conference League.
@mojebi3804 Tosin seems to be waiting for the results of the FA Cup. Man U wants him, and they have European football now. Paul confirms this when he says players consider Europe when picking a new team, which makes complete sense.
I respectfully disagree completely with your point. I think the big-name elite players we are pursuing this summer are the exact type of names we may not get now.
@@mojebi3804 Can we win anything other than the Conference league?
@@anon-zk6izno, can't see us win anything ever
@@michelemijat8260 "but but we are ahead of schedule". In fact we are so ahead that we are running around in circles.
Our own fault we lost it at home to brighton & man utd away when it was in our own hands.Must move on the deadwood now. Top 4 and a cup win has to be on the agenda for next season .
Are I know forest at home Luton home and away Everton home and away etc etc all games where we dropped points but with 3 games to go it was ours to lose and we did by dropping points to man utd & brighton so only have ourselves to blame .
Eddy has been found wanting all season tbh. Yes we had lots of injuries but we threw points away so many times this season it's beyond bad luck, it was bad management our team was good enough to be top 6 and we totally blew it.
Dummett, Ritchie, Almiron,Dubravka, Wilson and Longstaff time to go
Murphy as well. Nice lad but not good enough.
FRaser still on the books
Christ sake lads I get what you're saying but we can't change the whole squad in one window. You've all named 11 players. Yes we'll get rid of some of them but not all.
So many need a reality check about where the club is at.
@@stuartpirie5416 yes Stuart but it shows in reality how far in quality of player and depth that we're behind the top 6
Dummett

Murphy
Longstaff

Dubravka
Almiron
Fraser

Howe
Luton, Everton, Bournemouth and Forest at home cost us badly 😡
Unpopular opinion but I actually see this as a silver lining. Who saw top 4 coming in Howe's first full season? The way NUFC kicked off against AVL, winning 5-1, people thought NUFC would win the league. With Tonali coming back, rested Isak (Sweden not in Euros), a few smart transfer signings, NUFC have more than what it takes to get Champions League football again. Villa could fall off PL wise, same to Spurs, Man Utd. There's a real opportunity here if the players rally together with Howe and push on from here. FYI, I think Bruno stays for at least one more season, but if he leaves, FFP will no longer be a problem (£100m) - He's pivotal to the team, but NUFC won't fall apart if he does leave.
The owners will have big decisions to make in the end of season review meeting and a season like this can’t happen again. Very hard to find positives after not getting Europe with 3 games to go Also our away performances cost us most as was shocking. If someone triggers Bruno’s release clause I think he will leave unfortunately.
I can see either issak or. Bruno. At arsenal next season
@@Missminx01Isak won’t be leaving as nobody can afford him at 180mil which is the price on his head as he is arguably the best complete striker in the world.
I think Bruno's leaving too unfortunately
Buck stops with the manager
Yet nobody will say anything .late subs on .. tactics crazy.. etc etc ...
Supported Newcastle all my life, don’t start a season expecting to win anything or finish in European places, but getting so close hurst all the same, didn’t watch the final but I was shocked at the result, let’s see what the club does now, what happens across the summer will send a message to the fans about how ambitious the owners are,we can’t get rid of our best players
We will now see who wants to play for Newcastle i remember 1995 no Europe and K keegan went out and bought quality players and should have won the league thats the target👍
@@johnreay5522
I agree mate,if last season was too far too soon, this season must be a true reflection of where we’re at,no club can take any of our players if they want to stay and if they don’t,we’ll they can do one,KK got rid of Cole, felt like the end of the world at the time, until big Les started banging in the goals.
Players come and go that’s the nature of team sport,it hasn’t been a bad season,a few disappointing results against teams we probably should have beaten then it could have been so different, but that’s the Toon, they don’t make it easy for us!
The 3 home draws against Luton, Everton, and Bournemouth, as well as the home loss to Forest was our champions league qualification. All four games we should have won.
Chill out - Reset - Go again next season...........Well said ⚫️⚪️
Some of us fans haven't got too many seasons left!
If the same thing happens next season and the next season are you gonna keep on saying “Chill out - reset - Go again next season”

Just gutted.... 😢 no words
Me 2, shell shocked
I can't believe City just didn't turn up, I would have bet my house on them beating Manure, gutted.
Honestly though, why is nobody talking about Chelsea possibly having to do what AC Milan did, and bow out of European games due to UEFA’s FFP rules????
Does that mean we would get in?
Not going to happen, big 6 teams get god mode.
I would love to see that ... But I agree top 6 six teams are given different rules to the rest of the league like Everton and Forrest...
@@colinstuart3138 as far as I’m aware yes.
@@simonward4072I’m not sure if the big 6 get a god made over UEFA rules? I mean AC Milan had to bow out, I think it was in 2018. AC Milan are a bigger club than Chelsea in my opinion.
We won't win anything Paul whoever we buy. It's Newcastle United. We need an elite manager now & not buy 2 Nd rate players to save a few bob
Name that elite manager we should get? It's easy saying get one. Mourinho is not the answer in my opinion, football has moved on from his methods
@@NZGeordieBogan he's not gonna take us to the promised land he's a gate keeper ready to hand the keys over, another deluded fan😵💫
@markowens369 you didn't answer my question of who you want or would be best suited. But it's easy to say get rid of him. Also, calling someone deluded is a very defensive reaction. I've asked a simple, to most, question and 1 you don't answer and 2 you use an insult. Worry here is when we look at other fan bases and the way they carry on, it seems entitled. I gather you want the best for this team, I get that, but steady on with how you go about discussing things. Easy to be negative and insult than it is to have a adult conversation it seems

Bruno and Isak both came when we didn’t have Europe I think they will stay
Valid point !
Our stars all signed up when were not in Europe, but have a project they liked. Hopefully, they will continue the vision.
It's a shame, but not the end of the world. More Saturday kick offs, less injuries, able to concentrate only on the league and domestic cups... not all bad.
It was in wor hands , 3 games to go , bottled it , another learning curve . Bruno n Isak n Gordon will stay they are the foundation.
We have been on that many learning curves we are going around in circles.
@@billmoore7137 that’s called a cluster fuk 🥴
Am not disappointed been whaching Newcastle playing for 55 years it's Newcastle ffs adapt and overcome next season we will do better and Eddie howe should stay at the club
Ohhh pleeeze what about teams like Luton & Nottingham forest
Ourselves to blame. The biggest mistake was not bringing back Pope when he was fit. That was Eddie Howe fault. Fit enough for the bench , fit enough to play.
Exactly, same with joelinton
Disappointing not to get European football but it's not the end of world. If Bruno goes then he goes , people need to stop fixating on the guy ,they'll be plenty of comings and goings over the next few years but we'll get there eventually.
Injuries, yes. Poor individual performances, yes. Poor team selection, yes. Poor substitute selections, yes. Not good enough players, yes. Manager too nice, yes. Must learn from all of the above, for fooks sake YES! HWTL 🏴🏳🏴🏳
Everton, Forest, Luton and Bournemouth. Home and away = 24 points. We took 6.
Yep that sums it up totally
Bottled it in the last 3 games. A real set back but this season was ridiculous. Time to start clearing out old guard and start freshening things up with the squad
Blessing in disguise 🥸
First time we've finished above Man Utd in the prem, and our reward for our efforts.... Maybe a trip to Spain and play our youngster's against la liga all stars that'll put a smile on Howe & Tindal's face at least.
Was born 1954 so can’t say I was a supporter when we last won a domestic trophy the Fairs Cup is basically the only “Major” 🤦trophy I’ve seen us win and having to rely on other teams to give us a chance of European football is beyond belief time is running out the older i get but in my heart all I can say is HWTL & L’s
Man u wrecked my childhood, now there wrecking my adulthood🤣😡them and liverpool,
It sucks that we are not in Europe and I would question Man City's desire to win. I would not be surprised if they threw the game to stop Newcastle getting Europe and Man United dropping out, because just like PSG in EUFA the Premier League can't have a cartel club as big as Man U crashing out of Europe. But I think being able to focus entirely on the Premier league with a fully sit squad will allow us to really push for 4th place like we did last season, and I don't think Isak and Bruno are going anywhere. They would have been sold on the 5 year project, and we're only just entering the third full season. I thin Bruno and Isak will stay, we'll strengthen the squad. But this year will be the true test, did we over perform last year or did we underperform this year? Where will we be, we just have to watch and enjoy the ride.
Couple of more players in and keep the key players we have and boom we will be up there, without a doubt. We are just moulding the team atm and tbh I didnt think we would be this far that quick. Couple of tweaks gents and were there. Hold tight
Exactly
That would have been a whole lot easier if we'd got a euro place but now Villa are in the driving seat and we are rolling around in the boot
We're going into the 3rd year, so it's time that we do start to see something for the effort, so next season silverware has to be a target, nevermind qualifying for Europe, we need to see trophies, otherwise how long does the club wait?
Couldn't agree more. I think we all knew this season wouldn't be as good but this has been awful. Big Big changes needed. I'm really worried this is the end of Bruno.
Shouldn't rely on other teams . It was in our hands and we blew it . Can't blame any player moving on to win things.
We have what it takes, any player worth his salt can see that and hopefully buy in. I will be gutted if we lose any of our stars but I am confident we won’t
If some current players want to leave because we don’t have European football, they need to have a look in the mirror. Aside from the injuries and FFP, there were some terrible performances.
People forget Bruno came to Newcastle when we were 2 bottom
How on earth Ritchie / Dummet had a clause tied into Europe?! Rewarding mediocrity 🤯
Gutted - have always been a de facto NUFC supporter but this was the season I became invested in every single game.
Desperately want to get my first strip this year and slap that number 39 on the back, going to be an anxious wait til the end of June!
To me, this is just a speed bump along the way. I think there is a good chance of a top four finish provided they hold onto their best players, avoid bad injuries and significantly upgrade this summer with players like Mamardashvili. It goes without saying that the mediocre ones like Miggy will have to be sold.
ur not wishing for much
@@user-bn1dq6rb8h I'm just being realistic. The top six don't want Newcastle to succeed.
I think everyone need to look at the broader picture and bang their heads together, considering 2 season ago we was fighting relegation, the whole club has been transformed with the take over and thanks to Eddie Howe, he has worked wonders, we are still ahead of schedule, take this as a blessing and let’s build a better squad together, it’s going to take years to get a proper top 4 squad with quality and depth, Liverpool and Chelsea were off it along with Man U the season we hit 4th, so I think next season with some quality additions and being injury free it will be a good season, i believe we will win a cup next season..
We still finished above manure in the league for the first time in premier league history the curse is over onwards we go.
But you still won #uck all, yet again 😂😂😂😂
Next season they'll have all their players fit though. It was a bit of a one off this year with a lot of problems with injuries in defence and Sancho / Rashford / Antony as passegers. Couldn't have been any worse apart from this FA cup run.
We've been on one hell of a journey this season. Lets not forget the shite we we're watching 2 years ago ! Over achievement last year has brought all the glory hunters back to the fore ! We've very unlucky in respect to injury, cup draws, bad VAR crap. Lets reset ! Yes if we don't get into Europe in the coming season Eddie out but we're in early days of repairing the total mess that Ashley left us in ! So have a bit patience. Good times are around the corner ! Probably a big corner but we'll get round it. Good stuff Paul ! I echo your thoughts
two years ago we beat Arsenal 2-0 and were on the way up building momentum into a season where we finished 4th. It could be this is a blip or it could be our fall from grace - it is on a knife edge which way it goes and could come down to some key moments this season like the 97th minute in Paris and the last 5 minutes against liverpool - they did psychological damage on the team.
Strongest bench in the world. No changes. Mmm nice bung💰💰💰💰. We can do without the rigours of the conference anyway. Better legue finish.
Not a massive blow but an awakening. We have to stop the numerous mistakes made by Eddie, the medical team and yes the senior executive directors.
Nightmare of a season, compounded by receiving talent wasted and a genuine opportunity lost, egg on our faces. How strong is Bruno? He has been an absolute pleasure and privilege to Newcastle. Back to ordinary Saturdays unless proper strength prevails.
Bruno came when we were in a relegation battle he bought into it. So will other player's
Completly agree - I reckon Bruno will be wanting to lead the charge towards silverware and Europe. He waliked into the thick of it like a man on a mission and apparently insisted on no relegation get-out clause. He knows that becoming a footballing myth on Tyneside is within his grasp. I'll be very surprised - and disappointed - if he opts out now. Will he and is family be treated like royalty the way they are here? He didn't get that in Lyon and he wouldn't get it at PSG. He knows French football well so I can't see him taking a step backwards to Paris. The Premiership is far more competitive and Bruno seems to thrive on hard games. Many things seem to have clicked into place for him since he joined us - I'm sure he'll be loathe to throw that away.
Just my own reading - we'll see. I have complete faith in Bruno - he's one of the good guys... in football and in life.
Lots of good players would relish playing with the likes of Trips, Pope, Gordon, Isak, Wilson, BIg Joe and Bruno - as with Antony Gordon, a move to NUFC could be their moment to shine!
Yeah cause he bought in the project like Isak... Where now going into our 3rd season in this project with Howe and he's won fuck all, no Europe next season either
Being a reaIist I am pleaased not to have to chance injuries chasing a Micky Mouse competition . Only one European competition is worth anything . I don't want to attract players who think any European trophy will do . They should join us to try to finish in the top four and have a chance of a worthwhile European competition win . If our better players wish to leave then their public displays of saluting the crowd and slapping the badge are a sham , and we need to maximise their worth and buy worthy replacements ! The graveyards are full of indispensible people !
No excuses the away performances and mismanagement of the team this season has caused this. We bottled it with three games to go in our own hands
Bottled it ? How ? Did they freeze, ? did they run away ? we finished above Manure despite 11 first squad members being missing either short or long term but Sky BBC Sports don’t mention that. We are years behind from bottom to top. The top we can build quicker than the bottom ie the youth but it won’t happen over night.
@stephennutkin2477 what a clampet you are... How haven't we bottled it? It was in our hands last few games to finish 6th have we done that and secured europa league? No we didn't... Is that bottling, yes it is
@@stephennutkin2477 oh sorry I forgot Eddie is above reproach he is perfect and doesn’t make mistakes rofl.
Well looks like back to realty, a club on the march heading for the Top, trouble is we had a blinding start with just a half decent squad, this year with some added transfers, should see us pounding on the doors at the top proper European contenders.
Id love to hear what the owners have to say behind the scenes. Be very interesting
I very much doubt the fact that we can't play on a cold Thursday night in Albania and the likes will affect any decision on Bruno etc staying or leaving.. That decision will have been made before today either to stay or go. Time to get rid of the deadwood as much as we can, get better quality in and make sure we get at least Europe next year. Looking forward to the season already !!
One final cruel twist to a very cruel season. How I wonder what the outcome would have been without the crushing injury list plus the Tinali suspension. So the loss of key players and fatigue from so many games with an almost unchanged under strength squad and unexpected defeats or draws in winnable games and there we have the final result. Very disappointing with what could have been. now we have to dig deep and trust our side will be added to with quality players and a determination to get back on track. with our ambitions to become a top club. I believe we can. HWTL.
Bruno joined ‘the project’, as did Isak. They’ll give us another season at least. With new recruits, top 4 next season.
Eddie Howe has failed. he may be a nice guy but the owners have now got to be ruthless and show him the exit.
I agree, well said. This is a real chance to determine our future and settle with a structure. Either way it will be Gordon, Isak or Bruno and Tonali. We will 100% come back stronger and then its time to really invest 🤟
Gutted Paul 😢
Absolutely seething 😡 i just hope that hasn't cost us our players, not just europe. For me, we have no excuse but to get top 4 and hopefully a trophy next season with just 1 game a week. Surely we can't have any worse luck with injuries and cup draws 🤞 attracting. BIG players will be even harder now.
Eddie Howe knows now if he fails to reach Europe again he's gone.
again? oh dear another season of his managerial ineptitude.
From where we coming from. Am proud of top 8. Remember the performance over the years. The owners has a plan we just need to be patient.
Have to upgrade for next season new players over the Summer a must if we're not to go backwards
Spot on Paul. Might be grasping at straws but let’s see if Chelsea can comply with UEFA financial rules. I’m comfortable with no European football. We still don’t have a string enough squad to manage the domestic and European football. Still think we will progress next season. The journey continues. 💪
This season has been a massive failiure. If our big players leave to be in European football good for them and I wish them luck, they deserve better. Eddie has made so many mistakes this season and nobody can fight that. Some of our players have made massive mistakes and that has cost us.
Injuries have cost us, the backroom staff has cost us. It's a total shit show and needs change. I'd be very surprised if the owners don't change things in the summer break.
At this point I don't even care if Isak and Bruno leavea. Suffered enough for 22 years
Our big players haven’t always been there when needed, have to take some of the blame 😮😮
massive failure? i think thats an over statement
Paul, Man U turned up for what probably was their biggest game of the season and fair play to them they got their tactics spot on, there are a lot of what ifs regarding last season but beating, at home any of the following,Luton, Bournemouth, Everton or Brighton would have been enough for Europa league, I agree with you that we need to get rid of the deadwood and bring others in that have a bit more quality and push on next season, which I think we can be optimistic about 👍👍
Bruno came when we were in a relegation spot, it’s up to the club to recruit the right players, not sure if Conference is a big enough carrot to dangle to the top players anyway! Big summer ahead
I don't think we were going to get the very top end players anyway, our strategy should be good value, high ceiling players regardless of where were are playing. We can't afford the massive stars, we need to build them. Trippier and Bruno came when we were in the relegation zone, the main thing is ambition and selling the project.
Its a blessing.
Concentrate on top 4,and a domestic cup.
This might have been a blessing in disguise for next season. With less games means the lack of depth like this season will not be so much of an issue
I don’t think any of the big stars will leave tbh. But if a Real Madrid etc activate the release clause for Bruno, so be it. Most will thank him for all he has done
The dead wood needs to go. It’s been obvious since the take over.
On a bigger plus side, we are getting a new signing. Some guy called Tonali. Things definitely are looking up.
I have a feeling this season will be pivotal and monumental.
Take care all ❤
Ref was in there pocket from the go time wasting . Plus the pitch looked super dry perfect for long ball football. The stars aligned for them and they performed well for what they offered. Man city miles below where they normally are maybe celebrated the title a bit too much .
I agree, Paul, this is a cloud with a bit of a silver lining. Next season, we can just settle things down a bit and focus on developing a consistent team without distractions. We can hopefully conquer the injury situation and focus on finishing well up the premier league. We will not have to worry about European games if we do have injuries & we can make better progress towards a more balanced squad with minimal or even no lame ducks. It's great to have top players like Isak, Bruno, Botman & Gordon but I've always thought that there needs to be a balance of talent & it's never good to have world class players alongside much lesser ones. Personally, I'm really looking forward to next season but one thing is relevant, I am a fan of Eddie but it could be that there may be no excuses for poor performances and a poor league position so if it goes wrong, the owners may feel it's time to act. Let's see eh?
I love my club ,yes I'm disappointed but I think that we can
Rebuild and take the league by storm . We were racked by injury and some off the players have struggled to get back to full fitness. Eddie Howe has been the best manager we have had in years.Last year we over performed but I fully believe this next season will be historic . Haway the lads.👍⚽👍
If we keep Isak and Bruno, I think it will be a blessing, no Thursday football and a fully fit team-top 4 again.
from my perspective focus on the 24-25 PL title, then all the rest will fall into place.
Not sure signing the likes of Bournemouth and fulham free agents, will convince Bruno that the owners mean business for next season. To say I’m underwhelmed by the names we’re being linked with this summer, is an understatement. Amanda made a lot of noise after the takeover and also after we bottled the League Cup Final. I don’t think Eddie Howe will take us to the next level. This is a massive blow. Our best players aren’t going to be taking wage cuts next season when there are teams out there playing in Europe who will pay them what they want. It’s as simple as that. Selling them a vision is a difficult enough task but asking them to take a wage cut aswell is something else entirely.
It does if they are still better than outgoing players and strengthens the squad if not first XI. Will have to see who we got for though very hard now with no Europe
Howe can take us to next level provided he learns and adapts. He has improved a number of players and has a good relationship with many of them and he'll be given an extra year
When it comes to cutting wages I personally wouldn't worry about it because all that has to be done is the wage cut is done on the books
When it comes out that big names have taken a wage cut to stay at a club they actually don't it's just on the books the club with sub them the money in other ways it's happend for years
Chelsea and arsenal with the old "restaurants" springs to mind
If Pep comes knocking on Bruno's door telling him he is the man and he wants him to ply no8 I can't see how we keep him - maybe we should take the money and invest in a few areas?
All valid points Paul but we can now see this as an opportunity. We've got 3 windows to ship out the deadwood and get in the right quality of players that's equipped to cope with Europe. Hopefully we can address the medical staff as well this summer
I’m a dedicated Toon fan. Why on Earth can I be so disappointed about playing in this European tournament because I’m not. However there are no excuses for not pressing for top 4 again, with less games to play. HWTL, good luck next season.
We got what we deserved it was in our hands and we bottled it Paul but that’s what can happen when you depend on other teams to do us a favour . It might be harder to get players in. But that’s our fault
Not having European football after finishing 7th is highly unusual - don't think it's happened before - so Newcastle can consider themselves very unlucky. Also the conference lge is a trophy Newcastle could definitely have won, so a chance to end Newcastle's long wait for a trophy has gone. Guess the really big question for Newcastle now is is Eddie Howe still the right man for the job? (would not surprise me to see him leave). But in terms of the 'project' that people speak about this season was definitely a step backwards for newcastle (and their mega rich Saudi owners still haven't got much to show after 3 years - by this time into their project man city's owners had won an fa and were soon to win the lge).
Paul Dummett cost us 2 points against Everton
Man Utd will get stronger and probably finish above us next season. We have to be careful guys, we don’t want to find ourselves competing with Bournemouth, Brighton, West Ham or even Everton. It’s very important we get things right in the summer. I do worry about our small club mentality and I’m not sure Howe is the man to change that. We’ll see.
Only ourselves to blame but I do think there will be a knock on effect weather it be player's coming or going,I just hope the board stays strong and stick with Eddie for now not many would have got us to that position with all the injuries and set backs along the season
We got players to come to the club when we weren't in Europe... no reason not to do so again
This is utterly depressing! Isak is the player we need to hang-on to, most of all. If we can keep Isak, Gordon, Hall, Livramento, Bruno, Joelinton and Botman (and strengthen, alongside removing the dead wood), we can really challenge next season.
It’s probably a blessing Paul. Get a full squad together plus some sensible additions and they have a fair chance of getting into the top 4 again and this time they’ll have had 3 full seasons to have got ready for it
We bought in Bruno, Isak and Botman without European football so who knows who we could bring in.
Massive summer Paul for NUFC
Bruno won't go anywhere, he knew the situation we were in after the injuries we've had ruined our season. Can't see him jumping ship just yet
Let's win the Premeirship next year and the FA Cup- that'll shut everyone up. And we couldn't bring players in - this was obvious at the January window. Maybe the money is there but the rules are the problem. i can't bear people saying the manager should do this that or the other. We cannot buy if the rules don't let us. I think the manager did the best with what he had though I do think he is very loyal to players. I don't want Eddie to be more ruthless just streetwise. Our season was lost over the Winter months when we lost at home to Forest and away to Luton. We almost got it back - butin fact it was Brighton who lost us Europe - we only drew when Chelsea and ManU beat them in the the last 3 games
Next season we need to get the squad sorted. That's the priority. If we need a target go for the double.
Like last season we bottled the last few games for a final push … still an amazing season in circumstances but a boot in the balls
Do remember we signed Bruno, Botman, Isak and Trippier all without being in Europe, so in theory it's irrelevant keep the faith
I'm not as sure as Paul over Howes ability to be an elite, I don't want him gone just yet though. I think it's odds on the Bruno will walk away, I've never considered him to be thoroughly world class and Tonali will take up his role in the team anyway. I do hope J7 stays, he is our backbone no doubt about it. Now I do believe we shall be surfing the bargain basement bins for players, sadly.
