  • This video is of a two-day packrafting and fly-fishing trip that Frank Brassard and I did down Wapiabi Creek and a portion of the Blackstone River in early September 2023. This drainage is located on the east slopes of the Rocky Mountain in western Alberta. We managed to catch some bull trout and cutthroat.

    A couple of big cutties for that small creek. Cool trip!

    Before they banned motorized vehicles there, we used to go in past Crescent Falls over to the Wapiabi at the edge of Jasper park and camp all along the creek out to the road from #11 past Jackfish Lake. An elk and sheep paradise.

      @@flyfish-bowhunt-alberta Thank you! I appreciate you watching my stuff. Definitely a lot of extra effort that goes in to them, most of which go unnoticed.
      What brand is your raft? Im sitting here showing Tyler your video and saying we need to do this one day

    • @flyfish-bowhunt-alberta
      @flyfish-bowhunt-alberta  5 місяців тому

      I have two rafts. They are both made by Kokopelli but one was made directly from the factory in China. We placed a bulk order with them and were able to get a really good price. A buddy of mine (Frank) arranged it.

    Beautiful country to paddle through and crystal-clear water. Pretty skinny on the upper section, I imagine you bumped your bottom a few times. Those 2 fatty cutties were awesome! The bull trout were not looking well fed.

      Yea, we did a lot of walking of the top half of Wapiabi Creek, but once we got into the more defined canyon, the water levels rose and it wasn't too bad. Yea, those were some nice cutties, that's for sure!. I lost a couple of big fish on the second day that may or may not have been bulls.😊

    Hey fellas, well done. I’ve fished the blackstone and Wapiabi every summer for the last few years, always wondered what the more remote areas looked like.
    Can you tell me what brand and model your kayaks are? Cheers.

    • @flyfish-bowhunt-alberta
      @flyfish-bowhunt-alberta  3 місяці тому +1

      I would if I could 😀. Both our rafts were build directly at a factory in China. We made a bulk order with some other guys and it reduced the cost significantly. So the rafts in this video have no brand name. I have another raft that is a Kokopelli, which is more set up for whitewater. Stikine is a company in BC that makes nice affordable rafts, as well as some other really nice packraft accessories (dry bags, paddles, etc.)

      @flyfish-bowhunt-alberta I was fishing solo haha, just before the group of 3 people in the video. You can't exactly see me. But I know the river quite well lol so I could pick myself out

    That's where the big cutties are hey? I know that big rock well. I find that that system fishes poorly for such beautiful water! Just few fish per km.

    What brand of boats are these please?

    • @flyfish-bowhunt-alberta
      @flyfish-bowhunt-alberta  2 місяці тому +1

      They were purchased straight from a factory in China (bulk ordered for a good price), so they don't officially have a brand. The same factory makes boats for Kokopelli, though.
