I was a mental health therapist for 25 years. I worked with criminals, substance abusers, neurotics and psychotics. I never saw anyone during that time as profoundly disturbed, cruel, or dishonest as Donald Trump. The study of his personality alone would make an entire semester's graduate course in abnormal psychology.

I agree - this is true for the adults who now follow and support Trump; that is, they are now Trump's accomplices, but in their childhoods they also were victims just as Trump was. Trump has said he loves the uneducated. I think he likely is unaware of it, but he also "loves” those who were abused and humiliated in their childhood. I think this set them up to be followers of Trump and/or other leaders who use them. Some people who were abused and humiliated in their childhood find a way to move past the mental and psychological damage it causes, but many do not.

Trump knows he losing this battle for re-election, but he doesn't have, and will never have, the ability to course correct. They view themselves as so superior that regardless of what is going wrong for them, it isn't their fault. This is why lying and cheating and being vindictive is the only way, according to them, to get what they deserve. He has no emotion (but anger), he can't empathize with anyone, and he doesn't experience guilt because it isn't an emotion he understands. He actually can't even fake that, which is exactly why he will lose this election in a landslide.

I appreciate that his niece came forward but I think if she was truly concerned for the country she would have done it in 2016. Then again I don't know what it cost her to come forward.
I saw this same thing growing up...in the end he blamed everyone else for his problems, stuck a gun to his head and pulled the trigger. But not before giving away his children's inheritance to a long lost relative. The similarities (cruel, sadistic, narcissistic, zero empathy) to this guy is uncanny at times.

Under the 25th Amendment the Speaker of the House can request that the President be held for 72 hours for a psychological evaluation. It would be difficult for Nancy Pelosi to do this because the Republicans would not support it.

It's incredibly plain to see in Mary Trump's account of Donald at 2 1/2 years old, a point at which is mother was 100% unavailable (for health reasons), and his father found "kids" to be nothing more than irritating. He was essentially clothed and fed, but received no comfort, no warmth, no love. Those emotions develop from "mirroring" at that age, and he had literally no one to mirror. He is an empty vessel with nothing in place to curb his behavior. No guilt, no empathy, no remorse. He loves no one and nothing beyond whatever service they can perform for him, as is seen in his daily tantrums over anyone who crosses him. He doesn't even love his own kids. They are just an extension of himself, existing to make him look good, nothing more.

Two possibilities.
1. McConnell agrees to hold another impeachment trial in the Senate after more articles are passed by the House. This depends on McConnell's integrity as a human being and as an American, and he's amply demonstrated he possesses neither.
2. 25th Amendment. Basically Mike Pence and the Cabinet must decide that Trump is no longer capable of leading the country. This depends on their integrity as human beings and as Americans, and they've demonstrated that they have even less of these than McConnell.
So, the odds are between slim and none, and Slim fled screaming to Canada.

I have been following the family for many years. Not sure why anyone would have voted for Trump the first time. Amazing that the GOP thinks he is fine. He just says so much.
Implications: The horrendous # of deaths are meaningless to him... hence, the mistakes made don't matter. This explains why there is no interest in resolving them or in any effort to control the pandemic's impact on people. Perhaps this also explains why D has no concern about the safety and lives of children and teachers, and their families, by trying to force schools to reopen and operate as they did prepandemic, regardless of the infection rate in specific communities.

Here's what I have difficulty understanding: why is no vetting, no interviewing done on potential candidates for the biggest, most important job in the country? It's just a popularity contest, a contest of who can spend the most money.
When I apply for a job I must submit a cover letter, a resume, an application, references and go on interviews. All of this to determine if I'm capable of doing the job, and a good fit for the position and company.
