Ah yes, the Koopa Troopa.
According to the original game lore for these guys, the green Koopa Troopas are soldiers of the Turtle Empire, and their orders are to find and destroy Mario, and they'll carry out the order, at any cost. As for the red Koopa Troopas, they're more scared and vulnerable than their green counterparts, and won't even jump off even the smallest ledge or cliff.
