- Sean Baker winning the Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Theatrical Feature Film for ANORA on February 8, 2025 at the Fairmount Century Plaza in Beverly Hills, CA.
Anora is the new frontrunner with the DGA and PGA wins this weekend
After i saw Anora im Sure That Brutalist win the Oscar for Best Picture and Director. But the Critics and this Wins, give Anora a new Buzz
Unfortunately
@@OCriticoAlefortunately*
@@toxic1strike167 no, UNfortunately
@@OCriticoAle it’s definitely fortunate. Anora is one of the best films of the year. That’s why it won these prizes and the Palme d’Or. Sean Baker has had a great career and it’s time we award him, and luckily it’s for a deserving movie
the ang lee shoutout is crucial in this red hulk environment
This speech I think won him the Oscar … Brilliant
I prefer this one 🤩

@@weibowil. Not enough people will see it to matter. I’m good with Anora or The Brutalist.
No. This is the speech he presented when he won DGA. A fact
He looks genuinely baffled by his win but equally delighted
That was so cute, the way his wife kissed him when he won!
Was that his wife?

this is the cutest thing I've seen this awards season
What a genuine, heartfelt guy. Something that sadly seems rare in this industry nowadays and is much needed
Anora also won PGA, looks like it will win WGA too (and also a strong contender to win SAG and BAFTA). It really looks like this film is on its way to Oscars
Mr Baker is such an amazing director and human being, so humble and clear to express himself. Congrats!!!!!
ye so i need him to be on that stage with an oscar
Amazing! What an incredible heartfelt speech. He packed so much in there. He's fully involved in his craft for all the best reasons.
Anora frontrunner-Oscar NOW, Critic's Choice, PGA & DGA.
Anora now has a pretty good chance of winning best picture
Congrats Sean! Really hope that Mikey gets some price too.
So happy for him and Anora! I precited that he will win way back in September'24 without even seeing anything.
He deserves it just for his unique style and originality, one of a kind!
Without even seeing it? Okay, so you were just riding on the Palme d'Or wave, and think you know so much, lol
So happy for Sean Baker.
Sean Baker deserves this award. Anora was the first Best Picture nominee I saw last year. Also enjoyed Sean Baker's The Florida Project and thought Tangerine Dreams was a hoot!
Lmao the speech will likely help the movie campaign
The Greatest Day song was so well placed when he won.
Why is he so fine tho
He’s incredibly handsome
and he's 53 years old
As long as the awards race is between Anora and The Brutalist when it comes to directing and picture I’m happy, just keep Emilia Perez far away from getting anywhere near those trophies.
You have nothing to worry about, Emilia Perez is definitely not in contention there
Yes, well said, EP Soooo overrated
Emilia Perez has kind of shot itself in the foot with its campaign.
emilia perez has only supporting actress and original song we pray 🙏🏼
He looks handsome!
He's got 'Magic Mike' in him, hence Anora is so magical
And he is already 50, but looks 35.
Props to Sean
Well-deserved!
I dont understand people being surprised....Anora already won the Palme d'Or
Palme d’Or winners don’t typically win much when it comes to the guild awards and Oscars. Anatomy of a Fall, Triangle of Sadness and Titane didn’t win the big DGA or PGA awards.
@BobbyM817 But Parasite. It's not sure thing but I was pointing out that it has much acclaim behind it.
Very well deserved!
Way to go, Sean!
After seeing The Florida Project I knew this man is a genius. Anora is a masterpiece.
He is a fine director.
Yaaaaasssss 👏 I loved this movie - it was a masterpiece.
Go Anora. A new American classic. It’s sweet funny and brutal. A realistic New York story that we don’t often see.
Sean!
Go Anora!
Great film! Congratulations.
he’s so fine oh lord
Baker baked all the rival films over the weekend
He showed those pretentious Oscar-bait movies and musicals the value of real cinema with tenderness and originality.
Where was this televised ?? ….how In the world did I miss it !!!
its not
No televised. Interesting that this clip is professionally shot, with multiple cameras. If they’re putting so much effort in, why not televise it? (Doesnt even have to be live)
@@guysimchony309 You have a point here, because the whole sequence seems and or looks like any other awards show such as GG or CRITICS Choice Awards..fascinating though..
0:58 Should have gone to James Mangold for A Complete Unknown in my opinion. He did a fantastic job directing. Not to mention he also did Walk The Line and Logan
Guy practically reinvented cinema with Tangerine - good to she him get his due.
They played the wrong version of Greatest Day! This is the original not the Robin Schulz Remix which is in the movie
Yeah i also noticed that
@@jacobmacdonagh4070 TAKE THAT baby!! Love that song GREATEST DAY!…and it was the greatest , because ANORA won,( sorry The Brutalist )… and because Emilia Perez is DONE!
He's so nervous he used the greatest non-subtitled speech from a director before the Oscars😅
I read they crashed a birthday party at the restaurant scene starting filming. Both amazing and nuts.
so well deserved. i have watched all of his movies and they are all amazing works
I still havent seen four letter words do you know where I could find it?
Happy for Sean Baker for his recognition, but how Coralie wasnt nominated?
Anora might sweep the awards, including MAYBE Oscar...
Where were these awards aired at? which channel?
I’m not sure if they aired on any TV/broadcast channel, but Variety/Deadline/Hollywood Reporter and the like might have it.
Thank god it’s not that director but whew 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
He makes great movies
I hope Brady Corbet beat Sean Baker for Director at the Oscars
I thought Brady Corbet would win here and sweep and season. Congrats to Baker though. Maybe Corbet could pull an upset at the Oscars. Either way, I see a race between either Anora and The Brutalist and maybe Conclave.
First Cannes palme dor winnee to get DGA?
No , marty won in 1955
Who the hell directed this show !!#?$@!!.
Robbed from The Brutalist. At least it's not Emilia Perez or A Complete Unknown
Yes The Brutalist was the movie of the year.
Corbet looks like he was hyping himself up for the win 💀 thank god baker prevailed
Do you think the AI controversy may have hurt Corbet’s chances at winning the DGA and maybe the BAFTAs and Oscars?
Oh yes, i think Anora is going to win Best Picture at the Oscars.
TBH, I want any movie to win except Emilia Perez, and it’s not evem because of that racist woman.
1:31 look at all that dead skin flying around
😮
I dont get it?
This is rigged. The guy exploited his lead actress by not having an intimacy coordinator on set despite having her naked body exposed almost in every scene, and sometimes unnecessarily.
I cant stand this director.
