That is way to many Turbo snails for that tank. On the bright side they will destroy any algae. my guess is 24 -48 hours before the algae is no longer a problem. After that if you can't immediately rehome them dried algae sheets will keep them happy until you can. I would keep 4-6 to keep the algae in check.
Hahaha! I am dying over here! Beginning of your video, I was thinking, damn 25 turbos, that's a lot! Then you bust out 150! Hahahaha! You are a madman! Can't wait to see how this pans out!
I bought 4 Mexican turbos for my 32 gallon reef tank thinking it’ll take them a couple months. Half the tank was clean in the first 24hr and the rest over a two week period.
In my experience, snails never went after my long filamentous GHA. I would have had to trim the algae first. I typically go the manual removal or some kind of a fish like blennies, tomini tang or a fox face.
@@coralachillestang3350 actually i miss read that, thought you were saying asterina stars. Thing about snails is they don't like long filaments. Snails are better at preventing algae to grow out of control. Once its out of control, you will need something. Snails are good for algae spores, film algae and diatoms.
In my experience big turbo snails definitely clear more algae than any other snail in a short time. They can be bulldozers though, I have had them push between a rock and coral and break the coral. I put 2 in my wife’s 60 cube seahorse tank, cleaned it up in 4 days. You are 100% Rico, gotta make sure you get the dead ones out.
Can't wait to see how this goes for you...Can't imagine this won't work! And it must be snail day..I just added 200 Nassarius and Trochus snails to my tank today!
From my experience w/ mexican turbos, they work well cleaning up various types of algae. With that being said they tend to plow over, dislodge drags and corals. Also once algae is gone, they tend to die and if not removed, pollute the tank. Also hermits love to kill them! Other than that they work great imo. I usually only get one or 2 the pif once I'm done with them. Also my rule of thumb for clean up crew is one critter per gal of water🌝 My guess is 3-4 weeks
I give it a few days before they clean it all up. I’m with you on turbos though they die quick. I stopped getting them and ordered a pack off reef cleaners and the cerith and I believe nerites do a way better job cleaning than the turbos. Mine are also reproducing in the tank so I have plenty to keep my Red Sea reefer 625XXL clean.
That is a lot of snails. If they eat that type of algae it will take 2 days. Had algae put in 2 turbo 15 astrea 5 red hermits and 10 blue hermits and my urchin. Have 180gal system and my rock was butt naked in 2 days.
Hey Rico. Wow, 150 of them! I'm thinking a week or under. I've had 2 since I started the build and 1 died off after no algae was left in my 140gal. 1 is still going strong after some algae is now there but the issue I have with them is they have knocked down my sticks a few times. 1 week ago he knocked down a stick that was encrusted, said F that and he is in my sump now. lol But now he is trying to get in my return chamber. Now I'm hoping he doesn't get on my float valve and cause all my ATO to drain in my sump at once. 🤦 Keep us updated if they knocked down any sticks for you.
Best of luck with the algae cleanup! Turbos do a good job eating, but like you said, i hate them because they’re an ammonia bomb when they die. Especially in a nano like mine i just cant take the risk
150 Wow! I was saying 25 a good start. I always keep maybe 4-6 in a 125g i got 2 in a 80g had 3 damn sun star ate one when i was moving and cleaning tanks. Accidental tossed in wrong bucket.
They might push some frags off. and also what I do is after I feed my fish I always turkey baster the rocks to get food out of cracks and crevices so it don't cause a problem that's just me. Your Tank is looking good 👍👍👍
Wow! 150 turbos looks crazy! I think a week or two is about right time to clean it up. The turdo snail was my first sailtwater animal when i starting the hobby 3 years ago. I started with a 5 gal for a year. Then went to a 125 gal. The growth was great, but i had to flip him over alot. There shell grows from cal. And i keep it 450 always. But sadly he died last month.
150 Turbo snails does look crazy as Hell . LOL. They should put a dent on things. Make sure you smell the dead ones before you throw them out and don't wear gloves. They leave a nice fragrance on your hands. Once of the most disgusting smells in the hobby. LOL
They’re highly effective for certain types of algae. They love turf algae. They really don’t like much hair algae. I’d say they would be the best choice out of all the other snails. Hopefully they eat some of what you got!
too many snails.yes they work great for GHA but they go after short GHA; not the long stuff. also I say too many because some will die and cause a huge spike in nutes. keep ur eyes open for the ones that die ... My suggestion would be just to use brighwell razor to remove GHA and then w/c. Best of luck tho! Mexican turbos are my favorite snail for CUC
He’ll yeah !!those and trochus and money cowries are my go too and pincushion or tuxedo urchin but u gotta watch them they eat coraline too maybe a good thing for some
Yes I think you'll start to see real results in 2 weeks. I only have 2 and I see good results with them. Probably gonna get a couple more with some crabs and a couple more fish. Haven't done a coral yet but, these guys are good.
Yo Rico!! Just had to let you know I really enjoy your videos. I loved you last tank and can't wait to the evolution of your new build. Man you got a killer setup and are doing it right my man. In fact I had to shout you out in my last video titled Reefer Roll Call. Hope you check it out.
Dam you gona be flippin 🐌 over all day every day till the algae is gone you gona be puttin in work rico i use a spatula to flip mine back over when i have them i say three weeks
I'm shooting for one week my tank will be algae free! what are you guys think?
them snails do a good job. the rock will be super clean.3 days topps with that army. they end up knocking the corals off the rock
oh iv only got 1 in a 50 gallon tank
Looks like an infestation. I'll be surprised if they clean it up under a week.
I think you only needed a 1/3 of what you got and focused on phosphate removal.
That is way to many Turbo snails for that tank. On the bright side they will destroy any algae. my guess is 24 -48 hours before the algae is no longer a problem. 🤣🤣🤣 👊👍

They did nothing for my algar, and I had the same algae as yours. Hoping you have better luck
Me too.
Hi Rico. How about likely Diseases coming with Snails. Any QT etc or you wil put them directly?
I can get a ticket at the door for the barbecue this afternoon right??
Yep
In my experience, snails never went after my long filamentous GHA. I would have had to trim the algae first. I typically go the manual removal or some kind of a fish like blennies, tomini tang or a fox face.
Ms. Reefer Foxx star asterna snail works for hair algae
@@coralachillestang3350 LOL!! Whelk snails might do a better job. Holy trolly

how long did it take for you to test zero after using dr tims?.......how long did complete cycle take
They don’t work as well as red banded trochus snails and tuxedo urchins. Turbos snails come from cooler waters.
Something better than nothing👊👍

how many did you put
Can't wait to see how this goes for you...Can't imagine this won't work! And it must be snail day..I just added 200 Nassarius and Trochus snails to my tank today!
#snailday😁👊👍
Rico's Aquariums 🤣
I like trochas snails. They can flip themselves back over
I agree.
Trochus snail stay on their backs too in my tank😭

Yes I think they will make an impact on the algae and start to get it under control in 2 weeks
Great hat!

👊👍
What about Previous 100 snails you put . Are theu Alive etc
I’m saying a few days. That’s nuts lol. 🤙
😜😜👊👍
I’d try some Nasariuss Snails as well to clean up the sand bed. Maybe only 2 dozen of em.
How's your refugium coming along?
What refugium?
Anything that has “turbo” in it lmaoooo. A time lapse video watching these guys work would be awesome... 150 is a crazy amount
🤣🤣🤣👊👍
If the turbos don't do the trick you need Pincushion Urchins brother. They are natures lawn mowers.

Looking forward to hearing you speak on Sunday can’t wait man see you in Cali
Thanks man👊👍
I’ve had some Mexican turbos snails in my tank for over a year. All they eat is the algae off the glass
I really think you should have gone with variety over quantity. Maybe 25 of each. But that's just my personal preference.
Maybe next time.
Emerald crabs would be good too
Maybe later.
This is going to be cool. I've seen hermits tear up some algae. Looking forward to see results
Me too.
Rico, I think 150 turbos in your tank is a little overkill, I have 5 in my 50 gallon and they have been in there for years
150 Wow! I was saying 25 a good start. I always keep maybe 4-6 in a 125g i got 2 in a 80g had 3 damn sun star ate one when i was moving and cleaning tanks. Accidental tossed in wrong bucket.

They helped with mine!!!
I'm thinking only about 10 days to find all the strageler strand
I think in three days your system will clean
That wood be awesome.
Amazing snails 🐌
Being turbo and all they should fly through it within hours....Haha. I'm intrigued to see how this goes.
Me too.

at 8:35, queue the song Jarabe Tapatio
20 days
answer : yes, they will....till somebody calls ICE...then its every snail for itself...
🔥🔥🔥 they will make it happen
I have 2 in my 70 gallon and the do a good job. 150! Although the tank is massive I think 5-10 days they will mow things down.
That wood be good to.
2 -3 weeks
I think it will take 2 weeks. They’ll do the job. They are usually more active at night. Cool video!
Thanks
I think they should make a huge dent in cleaning up the algae!! Great video!! Look forward to seeing the end result! 👍😎
Me too.
Give it 5 days 👌
I can’t say for sure but I mysteriously got scratches on my glass after adding these. I can’t say for sure though. Keep an eye out.
I say one week if you stay on top of your nutrients
Should’ve bought a few sea hares, boom done!
Could have done that! But this is more fun😁
in before tomorrows update is "150 mexican turbo snails free to a good home". those dudes about to clean your tank in about 3 hours.
One month.
They will do a great job. And r very fast
They’re gonna knock off all your frags!
Hope not.
Man, I just got to the part where you showed just how many snails that is. If they get to work less than week and their work will be done.
I hope so.
Dont forget to quarantine your snails😂😜
Yes when I first started my tank I had hair algae and then nail it
I agree one two weeks. .if not " sopa de carracol."
This is a first.
400 gallon snail tank. lol
Lol 😂👊👍
10 days they going to be on it like a Raw dog on Ham
🤣🤣👊👍
I had one die inside of my 45 gallon. Shit was nasty af 🤮 I’m sticking with the astreas after that one
Two weeks I think
The best snail in my opinion bt like you said if they die 🤯🤯
Right 🤯
I will go with 5 toxido urchin rather than snails. Cheers Piotr
I have a lunar wrasse that keeps eating the snails so I dunno how fast they would do their work
Me neither🤔 we will see.
He’ll yeah !!those and trochus and money cowries are my go too and pincushion or tuxedo urchin but u gotta watch them they eat coraline too maybe a good thing for some
They will clean it all up fast and then starve to death....had it happen. Had to feed nori and return a bunch to Lfs. Good luck..
Less than a week they go to work when the lights are off non stop they eat
Yes I think you'll start to see real results in 2 weeks. I only have 2 and I see good results with them. Probably gonna get a couple more with some crabs and a couple more fish. Haven't done a coral yet but, these guys are good.
Never had luck with these they always die even with algae in the tank . I have good luck with others like asrtreas etc.
3 days is my guess. I will say that that's a heck of a bioload. Those things are crap machines.
What goes in must come out👊👍
Yo Rico!! Just had to let you know I really enjoy your videos. I loved you last tank and can't wait to the evolution of your new build. Man you got a killer setup and are doing it right my man. In fact I had to shout you out in my last video titled Reefer Roll Call. Hope you check it out.
That's a great start, but I'd also dump a couple hundred red and blue leg hermits to get down in the cracks and to clean up the dead turbos. :)
Get hermits
Maybe later.
It will be about a week to a week and a half to get it back to it should be
a few day max...lol
We will see🤔
In 4 days they will be out of food and start dyi6
We will see.
I say 3 DAYS... 4 DAYS TOPS...
them bull dosers are a beast...
Lol they never sleep
use stomatella snails!! i have a army of them..at night there everywhere!
Few week and you have 100 more baby snails 😂
😜👊👍
Dead ones will release lots of nastiness 🤢 🤢
Snails gotta eat too
That’s soo funny s$!t lol. What they eat the crappie out
A few days they’ll be done 😂😂
Viva México 🇲🇽
👊👍
I hear that clean up sand and aligea
I thank 5 days
Nothing good happens fast in this hobby. My guess is two weeks.
Dam you gona be flippin 🐌 over all day every day till the algae is gone you gona be puttin in work rico i use a spatula to flip mine back over when i have them i say three weeks
5 days tops
I say a week or 2
Hey if you don't need all those snails bring some to the BBQ and I will take them $$. Seriously that is a lot of escargot .😉See you there.
4 days
