The guy who got fired for leaving 8 minutes early has a valid reason to open the doors earlier because the fire marshal is conducting official business. As for his firing from his job, he may be working in a state that allows him to be fired for any reason that is justified. it's sad it happened to a guy who was a hard and loyal worker.

He may have gotten off the hook if he had played dumb, apologized, said he was sorry and didn't understand the rules concerning the fire department & was trying to do a good deed, and not have mouthed off. I don't know how many times he had been called in prior for warnings. Companies just hate confrontational people. Many companies have strict rules concerning being late and leaving early. It can really suck. So try not to work for companies like that. He also should have asked permission to leave early to see if it was allowed. I'm not sure if they got mad at him for opening the doors early. Maybe it is an insurance concern if people are inside the building early. If there had been a fire & he opened the building for them, maybe they would have thanked him instead.

She waited until he left, and then staged a need for his presence. He made the mistake of not learning from previous negative experiences and gave his enemy the upper hand.
