hi, thanks for this but i am a complete begginer and as i can see here there is some assumption that one already knows code i was looking for a clean install step by step guide including on how to open up the command promp of rust where we type in all commands, most of the videos on youtube they are already deep down in the command prompt!!!
testnet is akin to a staging environment in typical web2 development. So it's designed to mimic the mainnet-beta environment. Devnet is akin to "dev", where you're expected to deploy often and possibly have bugs. Also, devnet is really aimed at being a development environment for the network itself, so the team at Solana Labs will try stuff there first, which serves the same purpose for the as well
I have one doubt. All applications of blockchain tech requires a gas fee, even if you click a picture on blockchain tech, it is considered as a transaction and cuts gas price, how how is this beneficial for future? I mean, you can make any app/website for any little purpose but it will cost a gas fee, so why would people use it? wouldn't it limit the uses of blockchain to just transaction apps?
Incentives always line up well when you charge users to get a service. Not understanding your point. Also fees are cheap on Solana and if it was free they'd have a spam transaction attack issue.
Off to a great start.... "Quick Start" assumes you know this stuff already, doesn't spell out clearly what to do next, screen doesn't look at all like the one in this video, so I restart and in no time at all it tells me I've requested too many airdrops, come back in 24 hours. DESIGNED TO FAIL. What a waste of time and effort.

Well done Solana developooor!
Does the project dir exist inside WSL?
Awesome work with Solana, would you mind doing one on NEAR as well as it is written in Rust as well, no frameworks as it uses WebAssembly

What's the main difference between testnet and devnet? When would you use one over the other?

If you want to make your app and data more secure means. Atleast you've to pay some amount of money 😂. That's why blochchain boommmmm man 😮
