Is it the Cast Iron (CI) / AVL Lean Burn (LB) or Unit Construction (UCE) motor? Never saw brake on right side with neutral finder too in India though...
Actually, that's a four speed gearbox. I have the very same export military model, but it's a later 2005 with the five speed. Its shifter is also on the left (1 down & 4 up) with rear brake lever on the right, but the five speeds don't have that handy "neutral finder" lever. Personally, I'd have preferred a righthand shift, having owned several British bikes, but you quickly get used to it . I'd also have liked a "neutral finder", but then I'd rather have the five gears. My 2005 still has the iron cylinder barrel and a carb instead of fuel injection. Enfields are lovely and reliable bikes if you don't mind tinkering with them now and then and keep the speed "leisurely" when cruising--like under 60 mph or so. They like thumping along windy 2-lane country roads. If you want to shriek down the Interstate highways much more than a mile a minute and scarcely ever touch a tool, then that BMW next to the Enfield in the shed is your ride. Here in the States nice used examples of either bike can be bought all day long for about the same price, say $2,000-$3,000...less in winter.
Hello, thank you for share your lovely bike. I have some questions about those boxes on the rear: How many fixation points they have and by your experience what would be their max. load. (Kg) Thanks
How did u changes gears position from right to left and brake position from left to right, and makes standard model self start as well please let me know, I also have standard royal Enfield 1991 model
I believe they are manufactured the "wrong" way in India to send to us backwards riders here in the United States. I've never ridden a motorcycle with the gear shift on the right/brake on the left.
PC800Fixes Sir I believe it's the Bullet Electra that came from India. The Electra came standard with a 5 speed Gearbox and it featured the gear shifter on the left and the brakes on the right. It has the same cast iron engine but the gear position and shift pattern is similar to conventional motorcycles.
Neat !!! Surprised with the paint peel off , Didn't expect that would happen, Poor paint finish on the engine. Smooth surface of the timing chest (poor adherence of the paint )
I would prefer matte militaric green color over gloss one.. will look more authentic. Wheels black. Will try to hide most chrome to give a war machine.
@aruth Abu Aruth you are talking about latest versions of bullet bike which is altered to suit the layman riders with normal left side gear and right side brake. This is why the demand grew and everybody went for a bullet. But for this reason the bike has not lost its charm. Especially the older models before 2008 with cast iron still has its own charm. Old is gold. Harley are not suitable for indian roads and its sound is not comparable to the unique beat of old cast iron bullet the wholesome Indian bike( of course orginated from england). Even the foreigners who come to india prefer this bike for their touring.
hello pc800fixes i want to build my own diesel motorcycle but i am wondering how much horsepower do i need how much horse power has youre royal enfield en do you think you need more horse power ? most smal diesel engines are 3600 rpm and between 5 to 35 horse power what do you think how much horse power do i need for 70 mph
I sold it a few years back, but the new owner is taking great care of it too. It was a lot of fun to ride.
PC800Fixes OK let's steel it back give me a address lol
Is the new owner willing to sell this??
That's one beautiful motorcycle. I currently own and ride a 1983 Bullet 350 with the British 4 speed. Right side gear and left side rear brake.
I do own a 1962 Bullet 350 with same specs.. ❤️
The real RE sound... OMG mu favourite colour
Really charismatic bike. I drive it in India, 3000 km, and it was best impression from the country :)

Your RE 500ES very nice condition. I m die hard fan of bullet...👌👍👍
Is it the Cast Iron (CI) / AVL Lean Burn (LB) or Unit Construction (UCE) motor?

Pranav Chaware This is clearly a cast iron. The Cast Iron with a 5 speed which has the right side brake.

I just love that colour! Unfortunately here in India, it is legally not allowed on civilian bikes so can't have it here! :(
On d right side INDIAN EMBLEM noticed.....!!
It originally came with a Union Jack sticker, and there’s not much British about these bikes any more! I proudly displayed the flag of India.
even I too have this right gear what a feel it gives to me.
That is a good looking bike. Love the military theme.
Steven S. WOW
