I prefer Rainbow trout for the smoker. Less dry. I always eat it a day after smoking, from the fridge on top of a cold potato salad (crushed boiled potato, fresh dill, lots of Olive Oil, chili powder and sliced seafood sticks (cheaper than crab meat).
It's hard fishing in that east wind Deitrich but it paid off. We'll done. Picking up a little here as some good sea trout now getting caught and the fly beginning to work. Tight lines as ever
Well done Dietrich - lovely rainbow at the end of the day. I'm hitting for Lough Sheelin tomorrow - hopefully the trout up for the Duck Fly at this stage.
Many moons ago we used to fish a thing called "Fuzzy Wuzzy" for Rainbow trout in German reservoirs. Haven't used it in ages, but was a good fly, forgotten somehow now.
Indeed Dietrich, very satisfying days work. Great job. Enjoy the eating.
The fish was red fleshed and tasted great. Thank you, Desmond, take care.

That sounds very good, I prefer the brown trout though.
Great looking fish fought very well , enjoy your meal 👍
Thank you, Robert. The fish tasted great, with lots of butter of course.
Looks so peaceful but cold!
Well, we had something like 13 or 14 degrees C. Not too bad, or as they say: normal for the time of year.

Thank you, Tony, the nights are still so cold here, but it just has to pick up now. All the best and tight lines to you too.
Excellent work Dietrich…. The Mad Fisherman can’t catch the cold these days 😉😃😃

Thank you, John. And tight lines for Lough Sheelin.
YES...health giving butter! Delicious too. Don't forget the salt! And there ain't nothing wrong with beaching a fish...
Thank you, Henry. There is definitely nothing wrong with beaching a fish, particularly when the net is dodgy.
Good stuff as always, got 2 beautiful brown trout last week. Great to be off the mark this year. Tight lines mate 🎣
Thank you, sir and have a great season too.
Love your posts. You should come down south to catch over double figure rainbows

Thank you, Eric. Where are these big fish?

I believe I would be tempted to start with the stockies ... and play with the browns.
Well, the browns taste much better.
nice one for the steamer , enjoy.
Had it steamed with lots of butter, was very tasty.
Ever try a wooly bugger...?...trout supposedly are partial to this fly pattern as well.
