  • Red Bull’s NEW RECIPE Will CHANGE Professional Cycling FOREVER
    Red Bull acquiring a majority of the Bora-Hansgrohe cycling team is probably the biggest piece of the off-season news we’ve gotten this year. A top-tier global brand did not just enter the sport as a title sponsor, but actually became a team owner, which will have a huge impact on both the team and the sport. But how will Red Bull dipping their toes into the world of cycling affect the sport? And what changes can we expect in the near future?

    I'm pretty sure Redbull stepping in has less to do with the riders and more with cycling. Zwift has changed the way most amateurs cycle. It has pulled hordes of people. Due to other reasons too, like gcn, cycling is becoming popular again. Redbull is expanding their brand name while making money in diverse ways. Clever.

    the big problem, like you mentioned, is that there isnt that much money to make in cycling. you can see that at the lack of very big sponnsors. but even sponsors that are very big in specific nations (like Jumbo or some time ago Rabobank) leave cycling pretty fast. I can only imagine that is because of this issue, that there isnt much money to make in cycling, maybe its even a losing business. So for sure i dont think Red Bull will be pumping huge loads of money into cycling, cuz there is no way to get that money back.

      very true. Its also because the cycling world still lives in the 70's or something.. And think that a sponsor is happy to pay money and have there name of the shirt. But its not like that anymore. If they pay big they want something in return. And i cant blame the sponsors for that.

      @@userbrytje008 yes but thats also cuz back in those days (and the 80s and early 90s too) putting a name on cyclists shirts was a very good way to market your product or service, cuz there were only national tv broadcasts without much commercials in europe and ofcourse no internet yet. Nowadays its probably much more exposure for much less money when you advertize on tv or the internet compared to having a name on a shirt during a big race. But i still think there could be more innovative ways to commercialize cycling, specially with camera drones, live camera's on bikes, GPS for each rider so ppl can follow their favorite cyclist even if they arent in front of the race (probably online) and real time tracking of each riders stats (like pedal strokes per minute, speed, heartrate etc). That way sponsoring can also generate more money i think.

      @@userbrytje008yeah most pro riders are terrible influencers compared to athletes in other sports so sponsors get even less for their money

    I literally tried a Red Bull because of this buy, I always knew about them, but I didn’t realize they have actual nutrition content in their drinks. I always thought they were like bad Monsters, or Surge from back in the day. I’m not the only one they are going to make millions from his buy. Tried one at hour two of a 3 hr ride. Never in my life have I felt so strong for the last 30 mins of a ride.

      @@jepulis6674 usually I’ve just done vitamin water with a few table spoons of table sugar and that’s been fine for years. That formula had felt great, this stuff was like absolute crack though when I pounded one at hour 2.

      It's the baking soda and Caffine plus carbs... Sodium bicarbonate buffers hydrogen, Caffine reduces pain/increases power by a little, and carbs are king

      @@josephdanner773 might sound weird but a caffeine free Red Bull might actually sell pretty well. I know a lot of athletes who don't like that much caffeine in their sports drink (or at least only in certain stages)

    I hope they have an influence. The cycling world should not just roll over and sell out to dirty sports-washing Arab dollars, like F1, FUTBOL and GOLF.

    You have to be kidding me right?!? You are delusional if you think everything RedBull invests in produces a positive cash flow. They put their name on anything and everything. The most obscure sporting events have RedBull's name somewhere and it's something no one is watching. Not everything F1 & MotoGP....

    • @BurnerAcc-yy1sd
      @BurnerAcc-yy1sd 3 місяці тому

      But we are not talking about obscure sporting events here (not to mention those are still really good for RB marketing) This could have a similar impact as RB Leipzig/Salzburg

    Red Bull is a bad sponsor for a cycling team the drink is poison. They should be smart enough to change ingredients to make it safe before doing this. Most top teams are very smart about the food the team consumes no junk. I would never drink it you must read ingredients on everything you consume.

      You obviously don't know physiology and sports nutrition... It's the best mainstream energy drinks for sporting... Only downside is carbonation

      It's caffeinated sugar. Not really all that bad for active people. It's keyboard warriors who kick back three a day who give it a bad reputation...
