I'm a 49 year old white guy that grew up in staten island NY....my best friend who lived across the street had the biggest damn boom box I had ever seen in my life....I was probably 12 or 13 when this came out and we would sit on his porch and blast this and the beastie boys and run dmc all day while trying to do lame skateboard moves😂😂....great times and whenever I hear a song like this it always brings me back to that time in my life.
Straight legends in the game. Chuck D no mumbling understood every line he said. And every line meant something. Beats for days by the Bomb Squad. And a hype man like no other in Flav.
Def. I’m a rock n roller and alwys thought Chuck was the best. I was rocking this when it came out and alwys felt this is the same spirit as rock n roll. Rebellion. This shit moved me then and still moved me now. Don’t Belive the hype.
Harry Allen is a Member of The Bomb Squad. The Producers for Public Enemy. He is also the Minister of Information. All of Public Enemy and Bomb Squad are all College Graduates. The met DJing, Producing, Broadcasting on College Radio. That's where Rick Rubin of Def Jam heard Chuck D on his broadcast. They wanted a Solo deal but Chuck wouldn't do it without his Crew
Someone uploaded a Demo mix of Don't Believe The Hype on UA-cam several years ago, but it got pulled after a few months. It was pretty cool, about a minute longer than the album mix.
Legends. When the whole package comes together. Chuck's voice made you pay attention to his lyrics. Flav as a hype man added just that right amount of levity and a whole lot of energy. And those beats were just insane! Keeps you off balance. PE recommendations are Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos, She Watch Channel Zero, and Public Enemy #1.
CRASH! Ssen em twice back in '87 & '88. I was at the Hammersmith Odeon gig. Yeeaah Boyyy! Check out 'Harder than you think'. Nice one Stax machine. ❤🇬🇧❤
Chuck D -- one of all time greats. The Bomb Squad -- some of the greatest hip hop production ever. Heard this one when it was new and it turned this Canadian white boy's head.
The Whole Album By Public Enemy It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back: Is 🔥🔥🔥Since you did Don't Belive The Hype! You Got To Do a Reaction To: Rebel Without A Pause And Black Steel In The Hour Of Chaos. Its a video for Black Steel In The Hour Of Chaos. Im sure you will like It. Thanks: Stax🎶😎
Yeah, classic old school hip-hop. Public Enemy’s always been one of my fave rap groups. Like Rage Against The Machine after them (who Chuck D worked with) they wrote about politically, socially and culturally relevant issues. They always had the serious stuff.
Great Reaction bro !!! But you Definitely gotta add Public Enemy - Fight The Power Extended Video🔥🔥🔥 Trust me bro, this song & video will blow your mind !!! 💯💯💯
A lot of people love this group. I myself not the biggest fan around this era. I was more into 2 live Crew base patrol. Anything that had deep bass and dance music like kilo Ali or Debbie Deb or trinier or johnnyo or Stevie b. African bambada stuff like that
Go check out Prophets of Rage. It's the band from Rage Against The Machine, with Chuck D & DJ Lord of PE, and B Real from Cypress Hill. Hail To The Chief or Unfuck The World are two good tracks to start with.
Clear all the madness im not a racist. Chuck D telling us yeah i know what you're going through when you speak about the injustice wherever you are at. Not everyone has a union overseeing their rights. I miss this hip hop
Back in those days, ( Yes... I'm a dinosaur.) Rap had rapidly exploded and some folks didn't quite get the message. Rap was viewed by some as promoting just negative sheit and rappers as gun carrying crack dealers. And the media fed on it............ . So yeah; ... Don't BelieveThe Hype
Chuck D is bad as hell!!! PE had societal and governmental commentary cornered from waaaaay back. Check out the entirety of Yo! Bumrush the Show. Classic album. Totally unrelated, but maybe expose yourself to some Dio. Dude stood 4 foot nothing but had a voice 10 miles high. I'd recommend Holy Diver and Last in Line for starters.
I love Chuck D's voice and style.

And this was in 1988,Chuck D was pumpin knowledge from the beginning

If you get a chance, do the Public Enemy song "Hazy Shade of Criminal"!
It came out after they fell off, but it may be their best song!

"Black Steel In The Hour Of Chaos" should be next, the extended version 6:24 long. It's better than the video version.
