Out of all of these "Zoom talkshow guest" sessions, I would say having your interview in the middle of an empty hotel ballroom is the biggest flex so far.
Been saying it for a while but Ethan Hawke is one of those guys that’s known and well-respected among movie fans (think John Cusack, Jeff Daniels, etc) but get nowhere near the recognition he deserves - this dude has GEMS and a sneakily good filmography: The Before Trilogy, Gattaca, Predestination, Before The Devil Knows You’re Dead and all the other classics the Boys mentioned. Sadly I think he’s one of those guys that won’t get his flowers while he can smell em but don’t sleep, Ethan Hawke is that dude!
John Brown is one of my favorite people from history. He walked and lived freedom for everyone with no equivocation - so much he gave his life for it. I have to watch this. 🇺🇲
That's why white history calls him 'crazy'. In their minds, it had to be insanity to be true to what their so called religion was to believe in freedom and righteousness, at any cost.
@ME Rivera right and they be the same fools that talk about a new civil war. WTF yall butt hurt over not being able to get hair cut. Do they think they'll be able to clock out from war fighting and drive over to Great Clips and get a touch up? And if they think masking up is so bad, hope they keep that same energy for the gas-mask
Ethan Hawke is my favorite actor alongside Brad Pitt. The guy is so eclectic and sincere. The brand is god tier! Dead Poets Society, White Fang, Reality Bites, Before Trilogy, Gattaca, Great Expectations, Hamlet, Training Day, Daybreakers, Moby Dick, Sinister, Boyhood, Maggie's Plan, Maudie, First Reformed. I gotta see The Good Lord Bird & Tesla.
Hawke's maternal grandfather, Howard Lemuel Green, served as the elected Tarrant County Judge in Texas from 1967 to 1975, served five terms in the Texas Legislature (1957-67), and was also a minor-league baseball commissioner.
This interview worked. I'm going to start watching "The Good Lord Bird" show. I didn't realize James McBride was the writer. He's a Black man from Brooklyn who wrote "The Color of Water" which was a required read in lots of high schools. He also wrote the book for "Miracle at St.Anna".
Hearing The Brand chop it up with Ethan about the Knicks and giving Ewing his props was just beautiful. Had they been on set they would have got drinks and rambled on for hours. Brolic!
This interview seemed different, in an awesome way. It seemed like Desus and Mero really connected with Ethan and it was a delight to watch!! These two are masterful
That was a good movie. I watched a free screening of it months before it was released and the original ending where Mr. Boogie opens his mouth scared tf out of me 💀💀 I think they cut that part though
Ethan Hawke giving Revolver Ocelot* vibes with the interview look. Dug the conversation. Half way through the first episode of Good Lord Bird and I'm into it. *Thanks Slive, for the catch.
Omg this is so funny. I watched the whole interview trying so hard to remember who did he remind of. There’s an MGS movie in the works, hopefully the casting director watches this interview. He’d be perfect.
Don't forget Lord Of War.. great flick based on multiple real life war lords and although his part is smaller than Cage or Leto, he absolutely nails it!!! Props E-Hawke!!
I feel like “How bad can it get?” was the thought process of everyone who voted for Dump. Well... now that we know how bad it can get, I hope people think differently.
I had friends who said, "Let's just wait and see..." = they didn't vote at all. Within months I was giving them not even side eye and they were, not feeling great. Not close friends. Just people I know.
I've been watching TGLB, and I think it's an interesting take on John Brown. I'm a little confused about why the young man has to pretend to be a female all the way up to the third episode. I also was a little thrown off by the portrayal of Fredrick Douglas. But nevertheless, it's entertaining so I'll keep watching.
Same. I've been trained that when you see a Black man in a dress, expect trash, but there was just so much going on in the show, I couldn't give up on it.
Wow, Ethan’s such an asshole for that; guess we can’t enjoy the rest of this interview or any of his acting ever again. What an absolutely unpardonable offense; it’s literally worse than slavery, the holocaust, and 9/11... *combined*
@@rasarmusic1 totes it's not like any of the stuff I mentioned made it on the news, sports shows or aired on tv and before the NBA did theirs or ran concurrently. It's the trail of tears all over again

Big time flex
"It's wet"
Totally forgot Ethan worked with Antoine fuqua and Denzel twice. Give this man his flowers while he’s still here.
"I am Ethan Hawke. No relationship to Tony." Some of Desus' best jokes are off the cuff.
lol i caught that too, because tony hawk the only white guy the hood know with that last name!

@Dana Morey Haha. THAT TOO!
He’s so underrated, he’s at the level of Leo and Pitt in my eyes. He just does a lot of indie movies and big budget movies and is always great.

Training day is one of the greatest movies of all time!!!
For those who haven't seen yet - Boyhood, the Before trilogy, Dead Poets Society... this man has gems
Man the Before trilogy... Pure masterpieces
Before Sunset!
Boyhood was amazing. One of the few movies that made me cry
Boyhood he was just so good in.
First Reformed tho
Ethan Hawke looks like a futuristic scientist who's also a cool guy.
Like he’s about to star in a Stan Lee biopic
My guy said “Bunsen Burner” but mad it sexy. This makes me wanna cop a lab coat.
Finna be the next Doc Brown in a Back to the Future reboot.
They should have him on again when they can get back on the set. I really liked the energy of this interview
"Good things happen when you're in touch with things you really care about" -ethan hawke. Damn, I really felt that.
Ethan can still get it. Even with the uncle vibes. Lol
sucio gang
Word up! We can all get us White One too. Lol

Before Sunrise and Before Sunset are two of the greatest movies ever made.

Man, I felt his pain through the screen.
'FOUR MONTHS WITH DENZEL' would be an awesome book.
The Brand is Strong. Love these guys. Seen the 1st episode on Vice been hooked ever since. I got Showtime just to watch them.
You are sweet
Me tooo!! Lol the only show I see
Ethan Hawke class act
Ethan Hawke's story about how he came to "The Good Lord Bird" is amazing. Also, I loved him in Brooklyn's Finest.
This interview seemed different, in an awesome way. It seemed like Desus and Mero really connected with Ethan and it was a delight to watch!! These two are masterful
Sinister with Ethan Hawke is a slept on movie
Just rewatched that the other day.. Such an awesome horror movie
That was a good movie. I watched a free screening of it months before it was released and the original ending where Mr. Boogie opens his mouth scared tf out of me 💀💀 I think they cut that part though
Yeasssss!!!
One of my all time favorite horror films! I love him in it
That was him ?
Ethan Hawke one of the greatest actors of all time.
"If you gotta tell people who you are, you might as well rethink who you are." - Ethan Hawke, not in character, just a real OG speaking facts
Damn, I Didnt Know Ethan Hawke was like this (I hardly ever watch anything that's not a documentary/fact based). Now a fan.
Ethan Hawke is morphing into Marc Maron
and I'm here for it.
Hilarious
Lmao! Nailed it
Hah I can't unsee it! Perfect description.
LOVED this interview
Ethan Hawke is one of the realest guys out there. Such an authentic and humble guy. If you like him, you actually love him dearly.
Great Expectations was one of my favorite movies in high school. Been a fan for a long time.
Yo I started watching The Good Lord Bird. Ethan Hawke need an award for this performance.
"showed me other rooms i could go into" love that
You can tell when they're really into the guest. It's great.
There’s a John brown painting at the MET museum in the city..one of my favorites
Ethan Hawke giving Revolver Ocelot* vibes with the interview look.
Dug the conversation. Half way through the first episode of Good Lord Bird and I'm into it.

One of the best interviews yet
Oh god I loved him so much in high school.
Thank you for this interview. I'll read the book and watch the movie. Showtime!
Always cool when the guest unexpectedly vibes with the Boys
The brand is invincible!
Dope interview learned a lot.
My three boyfriends.
Ethan brought the ENERGY!
If they made another Tombstone movie he could totally play Doc Holliday he's got the look
Hmm. I'd love to see it, but he rarely plays charming and slippery. Val Kilmer just did it for me.
That was a good interview
Don't forget Lord Of War.. great flick based on multiple real life war lords and although his part is smaller than Cage or Leto, he absolutely nails it!!! Props E-Hawke!!
Good interviewing by Mero this time around
GLB is the best show I've seen in years. Hawke did act his ass off. It's f-cking amazing.
Shoutout from Houston
Ethan Hawke speaking some real shit
Ethan Hawks is ELECTRIC! lmao.
This dude is the truth
Ethan Hawke say I got my hood card it certified Denzel Washington check that issue number
I have a feeling Ethan Hawke is the reason we have a Denzel interview today.
I goin on record saying with the Editing, I can almost Guarantee this interview definitely started at 13 minutes in? Lol
Bodega Hive 4 Life!
2020 man
Really hoping that The Good Lord Bird gets streamed on another service. No Showtime.
John brown was a real bad ass and a hero
I don’t like how low the views on these videos have been
i was looking at that too...like how its so low? especially when mfs like me gotta watch it on youtube because i dont have showtime lol

@@candilubk He didn't lose the dress until the last episode. I'm still confused.
The brand is playing chess not checkers
Troy Dyer!!!
I like “Sinister” 😈
Ngl -- didn't expect the accent or volume from top. The character is rubbing off on him a bit, I think.
It's kinda who he is as an adult. He was the same on Real Time. When he was younger, he was more quiet.
Who still has a crush on this dude from the 80s/90s?....im not that old but I was mature for 7.
I do !
Might just be me but I'm saying Ethan could star in a Fauci biopic one day
The Brand is....
......Emmy Award Winning (Its gonna happen at some point)
