- Selma is a film that took a long time to get made, magically waiting, as movies do, for the right combination of people to come together, passionate, talented, and relentless enough to make it happen. Coming to the material just over a year ago, Ava DuVernay was the director who finally made it happen. She spoke to David Poland on the film's wide-release opening day about the process, the controversy, and the passion.
Shot in Los Angeles, January 2015

I would practically give an internal organ to work on one of her films. She is top notch and down to Earth. Love her.
Too friggin funny, but I understand your sentiment...
Pretty interesting how the interview goes from daylight to night.
shes so cool and can really tell she loves what she does! humility and kindness is awesome to see from a fantastic filmmaker!
I have such a strong respect for this woman, not only for her gutting and powerful film, but because she gives the best retort to the bullshit LBJ "controversy" going on right now.
Awesome interview. Very enlightening, informative and relatable. Inspired every time.
Great interview...I enjoy listening to Ava, she's quick!
Good interview
This is one of the most insightful entertainment shows apart from howard stern interviews. The sia interview he did was very insightful.
Love Ava DuVernay. (cool lady)
"I'm gunna make a movie about my people"? Why on earth did he say that???
Cause she is black
MS
I guess that's the same reason he made the joke about feeling like George Wallace...
Yeah it was a bit awk but we move
I'm really surprised she's not in love with the writing process.
She handled that LBJ issue like a real boss.
SELMA this is a low grade b movie if arnold schwarzegger was in it i would of liked it better.
levi ridge would've been a better Dr. King for sure
