Southern Kerala used to have extensive water transport networks that connected towns and cities when the region was the princely states of Travancore and Kochi. Compared to these days, more people used the rivers for travelling and transporting goods over large distances in those times. There were many traditional boat types of various sizes and shapes like the Kevu Vallam, kettu vallam, Valiya vallam, kothumbu vallam, veppu vallam, odi vallam etc. that were used for different purposes. the Kevu vallam and kettu vallam were the boat equivalent of buses and trucks used for transporting people and goods between towns and over larger distances. smaller boats like kothumbu vallam and odi were used for local transport. When the road network in Kerala developed over time and the numbers of buses and trucks increased, the waterways declined and people stopped using these boats, except in regions like Kumarakom and Kuttanad where the network of lagoons are still bigger than the road network. The transport boats became obsolete by the 1960s and gradually disappeared from daily lives, although some of the bigger ones survived because they were converted to houseboats for tourists.

Since the water metro contains 38 stations & 78 boats. The boats were built by Cochin Shipyard, a PSU. They delivered the first batch of boats on time. When second batch was ready to deliver Modi govt put pressure on Cochin Shipyard and diverted the boats to a northern state during Parliament election as an election stunt. Not only Union govt didn't pay a penny to this unique venture but they were delayed the second phase by diverting the boats to north and those aren't in use there

Greenhouse gases will only be lowered if the source of electricity itself is clean, or else it will be higher, however since this is public transit system it’s still beneficial than relying on cars.
If Kerala remains this beautiful, the main reason is that BJP doesn’t have a foothold here. In North India, instead of discussing development, the BJP fuels communalism among the people, which is why progress is stagnant there. But South India? It's on fire! 🔥

Kudos to Kerala for introducing such a beautiful and good water service called Water Metro. its definitely world class. India has so much scope to use water ways, but rarely does any state explore it, which is a very viable and non-pollution spreading service. That is why Kerala and Malayalees are always ahead than any other states. Hope the water metro connects to more areas in Kerala which gives people another option for good and comfortable travel. And being Kerala, the best part is that people, Govt, concerned agencies all think uniformly about the environment and the cost to the common and poor people too and giving the best to all with minimum fare, unlike other places in India where everything is kept costly keeping an eye into only business. The best part is to generating employment for many, especially the Kudumbashree women. Hope this service never gets to loss, because another factor in kerala is that much of things made available to common people goes for a loss after some time and then they have to struggle badly to keep running the service or business like KSRTC bus service. And no other state being as beautiful as Kerala, it would also give the passengers a treat to travel.
If Kerala remains this beautiful, the main reason is that BJP doesn’t have a foothold here. In North India, instead of discussing development, the BJP fuels communalism among the people, which is why progress is stagnant there. But South India? It's on fire! 🔥
One is funded by central government, and the other one isn't. Not boasting bruh, kerala isn't getting enough support even times of disaster..there is an favouritsim going with central government... If there were true federalism and less corruption, kerala would have been better than this ..
Similar to this metro, Kolkata has its own vessel system, which connects many ghats across the Hooghly River. And it reduces travel time for many daily passengers.

Love frm Kerala🇮🇳☺️❣️✨
If you travel 40km from there you can see world's first airport working fully on solar
Don't act foolishly. She aarived in Kochi through that airport.

Greenhouse gases will only be lowered if the source of electricity itself is clean, or else it will be higher, however since this is public transit system it’s still beneficial than relying on cars.
Kerala is number 1 🔥
If Kerala remains this beautiful, the main reason is that BJP doesn’t have a foothold here. In North India, instead of discussing development, the BJP fuels communalism among the people, which is why progress is stagnant there. But South India? It's on fire! 🔥
Trissur bjp?
Due to 'Suresh gopi' as a person, no BJP effect there!!!@@sarath5347

Since the water metro contains 38 stations & 78 boats. The boats were built by Cochin Shipyard, a PSU. They delivered the first batch of boats on time. When second batch was ready to deliver Modi govt put pressure on Cochin Shipyard and diverted the boats to a northern state during Parliament election as an election stunt. Not only
Union govt didn't pay a penny to this unique venture but they were delayed the second phase by diverting the boats to north and those aren't in use there
The brain child of KERALA GOVT
One of the cool videos.
Good initiative by Kerala & Central govt. I hope this type of initiative will be implemented across the country.
This is not at all funded by the central government, which is bad! got to know this via another comment
Central govt has no role in this initiative. It is a pure Kerala govt initiative and supported by a German company.

This transport mode way to protect economy and ecology
Use all over india
Last cameo of modi ji in the video i love it ❤❤ didn't expected 😂❤
Proud to be a Indian🇮🇳🙏

Kochi have the first water metro ☺
But kolkata have the first underground water metro under THE GANGA river😍
One is funded by central government, and the other one isn't.
Not boasting bruh, kerala isn't getting enough support even times of disaster..there is an favouritsim going with central government...
If there were true federalism and less corruption, kerala would have been better than this ..
Good stuff. Learnt something new👍
Beautiful one, Thanks for sharing.
Kerala govt❤️🙌🏻
Similar to this metro, Kolkata has its own vessel system, which connects many ghats across the Hooghly River. And it reduces travel time for many daily passengers.
Glad to know!
