Apple has changed from how this tutorial describes.
I will have an update video soon.

Apple iOS Devices: How to Turn Off 2-Factor Authentication
2-Factor Authentication by Apple is to add an extra level of security.
Note: I do not recommend turning off 2-factor authentication and it is on for all of my iOS devices, but you do have the choice.
The fix:
You must use a web browser (Chrome or Safari)
Go to appleid.apple.com
Sign in with Apple ID & Password
Go to Security Section
Click Edit
Click on Turn off 2-Factor Notification
(Read Warning)
Click Continue
Answer 3 Security Questions
Follow Prompts to Turn off
How To Check on iPhone or iPad if 2-Factor Auth is On:
In iOS 11:
Tap on Settings App
Tap On your name up top
Password & Security
2-Factor Authentication is On? or Off

Just fraustration from someone switching from Samsung to iPhone. Glad it works for you Mike. Great video anyways!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!! Very clear and easy to follow.
Thank you this was easy and smooth to do
Thank you. I’m not getting those promptings on the applied site however.
Okay so I was in a store and they required an app for me to get a discount and I tried to download it while there and I couldn’t because my stupid iPhone sent a code to my iPad which I DONT carry around! So frustration. Someone didn’t think that one out very well. I was so upset since I drove very far to go to that store.
This is the best clearest video explaining that issue...thank you man
Pierre Assouad thank you! 👍👍
Thx so much!!
You're welcome! Thanks for stopping by.
Thanks for this video. It was straight to the point!!
Francisco Trinidad thank you. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and leave feedback!! Cheers!
Sir I have a problem in 2 factor attentecater keys in Samsung how to disable
In theory this should work but you no longer have the option to remove this - it's rubbish and really puts me off Apple big time.
Toria Summers Agreed and thanks. I am waiting to see how Mojave and iOS 12 deal with it and will pull down and update this topic.
@@MikeMurphyCo : No use. Mojave is also same fucking...
Rubish lmao

Thank you . You were on point and made everything easy. 👏
In Nov 2020, your method worked, and I used it successfully. Now, the
screens look totally different. This morning, I was duped into Apple's
"it's required" talk when I was thinking of trading up to a iPhone 13
pro. I decided not to make the purchase, and now cannot get back
to the Single-Factor Authentication. The IOS on my 12 Pro is 15.4.
2FA is now required. 👍
Clear information in small amount of time. 10/10

Thank you
Ozzy The Service Dog You are welcome👊
Tip: When you activate 2FA, you'll get an email from Apple just in case someone else activated it instead of you. Because of that, they give you the option to undo it in with a link in the email! (You'll have to change your password, though.)
where do i find it

This no longer works after latest updates. Apple has totally taken away our ability to turn it off once it's on. I have devices that literally never leave my home and don't need it. It's a pain in the a**. APPLE SUCKS!
Fuck Apple
Who is that idiot dev? Fuck Apple.
then get samsung
Pity - do you know if I can turn off to factor authentication in Microsoft? Thanks for your previous response. :-)
You are welcome, but I do not know about 2FA and Microsoft.
Curious, why do you want to turn it off? 2FA is a very good thing and something I turn on for every account where it is available as it adds an extra layer of security.
👍🍀
10/10 points! To the point! Short and sweet! Thank you
This information is out of date, how was this a 10/10 in 2022?
I followed your instructions to the letter and did not end up in the exact same page as your example. There was no edit tab to allow me to turn the two factor off. Up until that point everything I did matched your example to the letter, Your instruction was clear and easy to understand and follow however, I still have to use the two factor to enter google apps. I never turned it on so don't know why I have to use it now. Quite frustrated!!!!
Apple changed since this tutorial was made. Turning of. 2FA is no longer an option. Do not listen to commenters recommending someone to help you. They are scammers. If you are stuck it need help with your iOS device, call Apple or go to an Apple Store. 👍🍀
Hi, can you tell me how to transfer whatsapp data from iPhone 6 plus to my Samsung s7 active
Can someone explain this... I'm in the same position too where I can't turn the option off. What happened if I lost my phone and went to logon to iCloud online to access my photos and other info. Do I have no way of accessing the info as I can't type the code in my phone? Surely this is absolutely ridiculous and counter productive?
exactly is main concern
That happened to me and Facebook has stopped me from doing anything. I can't even start a new Facebook and all my social medias are inaccessible. I may even get fired because of this broken system
You can turn this off even if this option isn’t on your Apple ID. You will have received an email when this was activated. Find that email, it provides an option to turn off. I believe you need to do this within the first two weeks though.
It’s making me change my Apple ID password, how do I do it without changing it?
Can you make a new updated video? i really need to turn it off, but your video is not working after the updates

Sir I want to ask you that if I have changed my password in last 2 days then how much time will it take to show turn off two factor authentication. Please tell me time duration.
Apple has changed since this tutorial and no longer able to turn it off.
Thanks Mike but I have a question...I do all of your steps and at the end there is no link or button that says click here to turn off? 🤷🏻♂️ any advice thanks again 👍🏼
Steve Tabs This has changed and no longer able to turn off 2-factor.
@@MikeMurphyCo So if they changed it, how do they expect you to get the code from the LOST Phone to enter into the browser to find my iPhone.. is there a work around? Thanks
@@MikeMurphyCo wait. you genuinely just can’t turn it off? are you kidding me? the only reason i’m trying to turn it off is because its preventing me from signing in on a computer…
@@shianemi7595 Yeah, 2FA is required. What exactly is happening on the other computer as it should not prevent you from signing into another device. Are you using multiple Apple IDs? If you really get stuck, you can always reach out to Apple Support if there is another issue going on. 🍀🍀
@@MikeMurphyCo i have a mac mini that i’m trying to sign in on (it was wiped so i can’t do much on the computer since every time i turn it on its treated as if its brand new). i’m putting my id and password in and i know for a fact its the right password but it says its not and then i even get a notification on my phone that someones trying to sign in (2FA) and i allow it and then it gives a code to put in and when the code doesn’t work, it says “forgot password? you’ve entered the wrong password more than once” 🙄. so i’m thinking it might have something to do with 2FA.
When I try to go to password and security it asks me about the verification code and if I click send to the phone number it’s sending it to a phone number I don’t use and I tried to go to settings to change it and it still would ask me for the verification code.
Apple has changed 2FA so turning off is no longer an option.
great video!
Thank you, but it is a little outdated as Apple has changed how this works for newer iPhones.
Thank you, Mike! Unfortunately my iphone doesn't let me. There is no "Edit" or "Turn Off" I accepted two-factor authentication because it popped up every time I connected, asking to change. It persisted so much so that I had to accept. Now everything has become complicated.
Yeah. Apple has changed the policy on 2-factor authentication and the steps in this tutorial are only going to be helpful for older devices or for those who have not turned on 2-factor before. I plan to update once I get the full understanding of what is the universal policy moving forward.
@@MikeMurphyCo Do you have an update? Can you link it here please

Hi can you please tell why you want to turn it off ?!? I recently turn it on i still can it off but i’m not sure yet , what problem you faced with it ?(that made want to turn it off) please i need your advice
@@ramisalibi each time I wanted to connect with google or UA-cam or some payment, I have to keep my mobile with me because they send you code to iphone that you must type in on your laptop. It's time consuming and also sometimes even I type in code on my macbook, my iphone said it's accepted but macbook didn't connect with it. Now it started to happen less but before it was terrible!
There is a work around to this. Create a new AppleID. Delete the current ID on your device and then after logging in with your new ID don't turn on 2 Factor Authentication. I was told this by Apple Support.
I can’t receive 2 factor authentication code. what can I do?
Would this be beneficial for getting past two step authentication on facebook??
Your number was revealed when you pause the video at the right Time but I’m not gonna say but it is visible to see when you pause the screen at the right moment just a heads up

Hi, i want to ask you what does the two factor authentication do, someone’s done the two factor authentication of my apple id with his phone and i dont know whats going to happened, like can he get private informations about my phone or something or he cant do anything ? Whats the point from two factor authentication i hope you reply as soon as possible
2-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security. Rather than just having a password, 2-factor requires an extra step such as a confirmation code via text message to make it harder for someone to access your information just by knowing your password.
hello bro i do follow ur video but i don see botton turn off two factor how can i do ? thank q bro
Apple has changed how it works and can no longer turn it off once it has been turned on.
If I lost my two factor authentication enabled iPhone so when I tried to login iCloud from another device it’ll ask two factor authentication code or not? Pls reply
2-factor authentication is required now.
Hey Mike , will this work in 2020 on a new apple account
Abdullah Kazi Apple has changed this so I do not think it will work, but have not tested, so if you discover it works, let me know. 👍
Mine is off but it keeps asking me to turn it on every time I swipe the screen to activate the phone. I am going back to Samsung when its time to replace this phone and hearing aids. I got stuck with a iPhone because it was the only phone my hearing aids supported but now they have one that works with a Samsung but I just purchased the 1000$ I phone a year of so ago so want to get my moneys worth out of it and my 1500$ hearing aids before I upgrade to a Samsung!
Hey man I suggest you hit up Stevie_hacks on I.g he was able to fix mines up
I have a old iPhone, that I can’t download anything anymore because of this… it asks for the password and then appeara the code on the new iPhone but nothing to put it in on the old one, is there any ways around this so a i can still download apps on the older iPhone? (iOS 6)
If you’re locked out or stuck, I’d consider calling Apple support to see if they can offer a solution for you. 👍🍀
You can probably take this video down because it no longer works as verified by at least four or five other people who said it no longer works. How do you have newer iOS on my phone and iPad but my MacBook Pro has an older version of OS X, but that doesn’t matter it’s still won’t let me turn it off on my Mac.
Obviously like 80 other people have said this doesn't work now... why'd they take away the option to turn it off?
So because you can no longer turn it off, what happens when you want to upgrade your phone
You are screwed not only screwed but mega screwed if you don’t have your previous phone.
informative but this method only works on older version of iOS ... but if you have updated to iOS 14 and so on, not possible to change.....if you know please help me...
Apple has changed this since the time of that video and there is no longer the option to turn off 2FA (which is actually not a bad thing in my opinion). 🍀
@@MikeMurphyCo thank you so much...I agree with sir, but there is one big problem...when I login to my Apple ID , the code number jumps right on my screen and iPhone , then I put in the given code from the screen and login is successful. so let say I lost my Mac and the thief somehow knows my id and password, the 2FA pops up automatically on the screen and in one of my iPhone ...so the thief already know the numbers and can login to my account.... any suggestion, best regards...
@@sharing-caring45 Apple is only showing as you have them as trusted devices and browser. For best practices you should also have a passcode on all your devices so if it was stolen they would have to know your device password and Apple ID password. You can view and manage your trusted devices at any time appleid.apple.com/ and if your device was ever stolen you can remove as trusted device and can go into Lost Mode on Find My Phone. Apple security is pretty great so if you take some precautions and use good passwords, etc you should be secure. 🍀
Thank you for this. It was a very clear explanation but unfortunately, it doesn't work anymore. I reset my iPhone 6 coz I'll be getting a new phone and I'll give this iPhone 6 to someone but when I signed in his Apple ID, it requires me the passcode which I typed correctly and it still said that it's wrong. I know my passcodes. Eversince, in all of my phones, I only use 1 set of digits for my passcode. I wanna remove the 2FA hoping it won't require me the passcode again when I sign in his Apple ID, but I cannot find the "Edit" or "Remove" button when I go to 2FA settings/browser. I'm gonna cry. 😭
Yes, Apple has changed this since the tutorial was made. 2FA can no longer be turned off anymore, but you should still be able to erase your old phone and sell or give it away. If you are having issues, I would reach out to Apple support and they should be able to help you out. All the best.
Great but how do I reset key for iPad 1 first gen?🤔
Not sure.
I used the number on my iPhone as 2FA will that solve not being able to turn it off?
You cannot turn it off anymore, but 2-factor authentication is just a second layer of security. You just need to remember your password and have your phone nearby when trying to sign into iCloud or Apple services. 2FA is a good thing 👍
this does not work. all it does is vet you to change your apple id. I have the latest update. I still have 9 days to revert back to the original settings from the link in the email but it doesn't even get me to the two factor settings screen to turn jt off. I really need help since its my blind fathers phone and he us not able to see the numbers to enter the code.
It is no longer an option to turn off 2FA, but Apple has great accessibility features for the blind. 🍀
www.apple.com/accessibility/
No longer works and it dings at least 3 times a night. Is there something like auto updates that could trigger the message?
Colin Middleton Yes, Apple has made it so if you already use 2-factor you can no longer turn off, but it should not be going off 3/times per night. I know you were exaggerating, but it goes off when there is a log-in attempt. I would try to figure out what is causing it as it is protecting you.
Can I turn off two-factor authentication after I’ve turned it on?
If you already use two-factor authentication, you can no longer turn it off.
That is correct. It is no longer an option to turn off.
Unfortunately, this no longer works. Luckily, in my case they give you a 2-week window to go back to the verification email and reverse it. I was lucky enough to be within that 2 week time window when watching this video in trying this 1st. It's now January 2020 and they still haven't allowed people to turn this feature off once it's turned on so that kind of sucks.
Obviously no more. Apple changed this so that you can NOT remove 2FA (except within the first 2 weeks of starting 2FA and with the email Apple sent acknowledging the implementation of 2FA). Of course, I can't find my email, so I'm screwed. Wonder if you reset you iPhone to the original factory settings and reinstall the iCloud backup, would that remove the 2FA? Probably not since it's an Apple setting. Guess you could create an all new Apple ID, then change everything associated with the original Apple ID. What a pain.
They never sent me an email so I can't turn it off now
How about when I don’t see the option in the web browser
Rithy this tip is obsolete now. Apple has changed how it handles 2-factor Authentication.
My MacBook doesn't have the option to turn off. It sucks I can't even get into my Apple tv now. I'm going to try my friends old iMac maybe I can turn it off on that.
Yeah, Apple has changed the policy on 2-Factor. Once it's turned on, you can no longer turn it off.
the problem for me is that i used textnow for thee phone number and i no longer have that phone number so i dont get a notification to get the code... can someone help me with this?
Contact Apple Support. 🍀👍
Thanks for the tutorial but now you can only turn it off by going back to the email Apple sent you that same day it reads:
If you didn’t enable two-factor authentication and believe someone else has access to your account, you can return to your previous security settings and regain control of your account.
So I went back after I read other comments here and clicked on resetting it back and it worked. I think You only have a period of two weeks to reset.
yeah, I tried that, it a good idea but I think I was too late.
No, this does not work (any longer)! I followed all the steps repeatedly and Apple (iOS 11.4.1) says this:
"If you already use two-factor authentication, you can no longer turn it off. Certain features in the latest versions of iOS and macOS require this extra level of security, which is designed to protect your information. If you recently updated your account, however, you can unenroll for a period of two weeks. Just open your enrollment confirmation email and click the link to return to your previous security settings. Keep in mind, this makes your account less secure and means that you can't use features that require a higher level of security.

Apple has changed this option for newer versions of iOS. Once 2-factor is enabled now, it is not possible to turn off.
Hey Mike, I have done this twice so far and I'm still getting these annoying 2 factor authorization requests. I have 5 devices from 3 family members using iCloud so this is extremely annoying. Every time someone tries to do something, another person has to send a 6 digit code. This video shows how to do it but its still not working. What gives?
Hi Ernest, it's a double-edged sword as the security is a good thing, but not so fun when it becomes a major inconvenience. I'll help you if I can.
1. This may or may not make a difference, but I'm a troubleshooter and could be why they did not respond when you turned off 2-step Authentication. There is 2-step Verification (older phones) and newer phones using iOS11 were automatically switched to 2-Factor Authentication. Look on all of the phones in Settings....Tap on Profile Pic...Password & Security and verify which 2-step it is and if you have the option to turn off...do so.
2. Next: I'm going to assume you have a Mac computer somewhere in your household. On iMac or MacBook, Click on the Apple in the upper left corner and select 'System Preferences' Go to iCloud and click on 'Account Details' under your profile picture. Click on the tab that says 'Security'...You should 2-Factor Authentication with a Green Dot and see trusted phone numbers of all your devices below. You could highlight the numbers of the devices you do not want to be 'Trusted' and click the [-] to remove them. See if that helps.
3. I would go to the 'Manage Apple ID' appleid.apple.com using the apple id and password of all your family members and Turn off 2-Factor. Then go to the phones and verify.
That's where I'd start 🤓...Keep me posted
Thanks for the quick response Mike. We already did that. Its pretty frustrating because 3 family members are constantly having to verify each other. What a pain.
Ernest Buckley just verify. Is 2-factor authentication turned off on all 5 devices and still getting warnings or were you unable to turn off on all? If all are off on both on appleid.apple.com and on the devices it should not happen. You may have gone through the steps, but put them all together and go through one by one.
Hi Mike, Yes, I turned it off on all devices but my phone keeps reminding me to turn it back on. Its very irritating. This seems to be a bug with the latest OS, I did not have this issue until I updated to the latest and "greatest"...
I've had plenty of oddities with the 'latest and greatest' so could very well be an OS issue. iCloud is still very much a work in progress it seems with Apple. It has come a long way since its awkward debut, but it has plenty of kinks still left to sort out. Good luck and if you get it fixed, would love to know. Cheers.
