I've watched other people react to this song and you are the only one who understood the seriousness and sadness of this song. I think the first lines of this song encompass Chester's entire life. A horrible thing happened to him when he was a child and he couldn't let it go. It was always with him, it played over and over again in his head. Points of Authority also addresses this but in an angrier way. This song breaks my heart.

When i first heard this song i knew something was real about the lyrics. My childhood was very similar to Chester and i knew he is talking about something real deep and sensitive.
It’s actually need odd watching reactions and people are like “ooh that beat tho!”
Like… this is one of the only times Chester was ever this open about his past and what happened to him as a child. It’s a really deep subject.

It's been 3 years since Chester took his own life
Favorite LP song and best reaction to it I've seen. This song very much sounds like a suicide letter. Ironically, this song saved my life. When I was a young teen contemplating suicide, this song showed me that there was someone out there who felt exactly like I did. I figured if Chester could speak up and keep going, I could too. His loss hit me especially hard, but I'm still here and still fighting.

So sad. It does hit different now. I think Chester actually wrote this one. I'm sure one of us has told you, but Chester was sexually abused from age 7 to 13 by a friend of the family. Horrible thing to deal with. Chester is the lead singer. Mike is the rapper.

@@RedTopReactions You can feel everything he sings. Unfortunately it comes from a place of pain. His music saved so many, including me. In the end, he couldn't be saved. Chester father was detective. Ironically he worked with abused children. Chester was scared to reveal what was happening to him. He finally told his Dad. They didn't wind up pressing charges because they found out the abuser had also been abused. Chester is a better person than me. I don't think I could have let that go. However Chester never really over came it. So heartbreaking. I heard he was really a super nice guy too. 💔
This has been my favorite song of all time for 15 years now. The message of the song was relevant to me over the years, but it's hitting extra hard after Chester died. :(
Yeah.. Chester was the main singer, and since the first album the lyrics were very dark and even though this is an old song it's still how he was feeling, and as the years went by they just got darker and darker and became even more apparent how Chester was struggling internally, especially on their last album One More Light, from 2017, released only 2 months before he killed himself, Chester was very talented and a very kind person too, please react to more of their songs!! I would love to see it!

this definitely hits different now. i've been a fan since i was 12 or 13. im 31 now. they never intended the lyrics to be like his goodbye letters but i mean it's hard not to feel that way when you hear the lyrics now that he's gone.

As linkin park fan i can see people coming with like their first two album were sick and then they just gone soft or electronic and pop and stuff.. Yes they did.. But that how they evolved as artists.. That why they could stay so longer than other bands like limp bizkit and few others....each and every song of thier is a gem.. Mike has evolved into a fucking good rapper and probably he don't get the credit that he deserves for his rapping..
1 advice, listen to linkin park songs with open ears and heart.. I think you have a good chance to realise that as u might not go reacting to thier songs in order to their discography... Glad to see h like hand held high so much.. And rest in peace chazzy..
Yeah they went back to metal/rock on their "Hunting Party" record from 2014 then switched to more edm/pop after. Hunting party is prob my second fav album just behind Meteora. Still loved anything they put out.

The reason why young people then could connect to the linkin park because of the lyrics.. The pain in there about the rough life they must have been going through then.. Most the linkin park lyrics in first 2 albums are of personal pain..Chester had gone through sexual abuse when he was young.. And those things used to pop up in linkin park songs now and then.. Though mike was the one who use to wrote most the lyrics... And yes it hits very differently now and most of their songs seems like suicide note..
