Hello! So on the facelift of this generation C Class this problem is not there anymore? I wonder if its worth the hassle of getting a Cabriolet between 2021-2023 or stick with Coupe…talking about reliability
Hi, I bought my C class 4 years old from a MB main dealer with 12 months warranty. The cords have broken exactly as in this video. Typically, the cords themselves are not covered under the warranty! The dealer has quoted me £960 to repair. I’ve been quoted £840 by a local independent roof specialist. I’m seriously considering buying the cables and attempting a repair myself.
How difficult is the repair to do at home? I have 2018 with exact same issue. I took it to an upholstery shop and they said no thanks, local Mercedes dealer wants 1.5k. Im trying to sell the car, but i need to fix this beforehand
@@CabrioletTech thanks I will have to attempt first. It was just visually inspected today and new quote is now 2.9k lol. I can try myself, if I fail a new soft top is only 2.7k, might as well just replace the whole damn thing if they want to charge me the same for a new headliner and strings only
@@CabrioletTech did they just change to new stronger cables or is other stuff different as well? Do you offer just cable replacement with the stronger new ones? How do the new cables hold up? Is it a permanent fix?

I have the same problem on my 2017 C300 Mercedes must know about this, is there any recourse with them even tho its out of warranty? They are trying to charge me $4200 as they say i also have to replace the Headliner?
Hi At that price it would be viable for me to fly over and repair it ! We typically repair the headliners Not sure on legal stance, what I do know is Mercedes Benz have changed the design
I am the US, same issue. Is there an MB part number for the tension wires? Dealer says they don't want to touch it and will use "their go-to guy" who charges $2700 for a new headliner. Any help is appreciated!
@@CabrioletTech 1 wire broken which causes a plastic piece in the corner of the headliner not to fold down properly and gets stuck when you open the top. SO top does not go down all the way and the cover does not close. So I need the wire set I guess. But just to make sure do you have part number for plastic piece. If you are ever in the states, Ill buy you a beer :)

You say common problem, Mercedes refusing to repair under warranty. How common is this?
Every vehicle made up to 2019/2020 has this issue where they have changed the material now
