Thank you for answering the question I’ve been looking for about the battery life!!! All of the content creators I’ve watched on this instrument never say how long the battery life lasts!!!
I think it's important for people who are new to Ableton to know that the Push's are not great for complete stand alone workflows. There's no access to the arranger and there's no way to do clip chaining on the Push which means no song mode. Also there are many limitations. So much you can't do without using the software with your keyboard and mouse. It's not a deal breaker for me. I own the Push 2 and like it but for the amount they charge it should let you be able to do so much more. Standalone workflow heads - be aware.
While your points are accurate, I think when comparing to any of the other standalone boxes - the Push3 has a superior method of “playing a full song” for sure. You need to hit the next scene button ahead of your preset quantization settings to launch in time, but the ability to easily do this with your instantly available 8 scenes AND 64 variations within scenes via clips is FAR more useful IMHO than trying to do this on maschine+ or MPC standalone, for example. Let alone a Roland drum machine… When I write, I usually do the first 70% in session view and then globally record my clip triggers and such into arranger… then spend the last 15-20% of my time in arranger to really get things dialed. Once I am happy with the arrangement, I “copy and insert time” in clusters that make sense back into session view so I can play back each major movement of my piece if I wish (complete with all final automations, tweaks, variations from arranger)… so the song is accessible in both ways. At least on P3 that initial “lego block idea” of a song is accessible, and after some time with the computer screen, the polished version is also available in session. Of course the beauty is that you get 8*8 permutations of the track at your fingertips live. I am hopeful in the future Ableton sorts out arranger in standalone, as well as some VST support… but this is a giant step in the right direction! Simply adding the session clip visualizer to the screen makes this thing so much more useful to navigate. If i am not mistaken, you can play notes with the pads while navigating scenes up top, like Force… that is really useful.
@@MrFullyCharged all of this is accurate. I just want people to understand that to play a full song using the scene clips has to be done live. No clip chaining. You can't stand back and listen to a full song which I often like to do. For me the issue is that with a piece of hardware this expensive it should be able to do some sort of a basic song mode that's not live. But we all have our different needs so I want to make sure people understand the limitations. But yes a lot of what makes the Push great is its performing live capabilities. In that respect it's a dope piece of gear. As a studio producer however, some of those features are not as important to me.
@@filmingkey that is a good point for sure. At least the scenes can be as long as you wish, which is still a bit better than some of the comp. I imagine they are cruising along behind the scenes to allow some sort of scene chaining or arranger, right? Let's hope so. All good :)
That's really interesting and a bit surprising that the Push 3 is internally running Linux instead of Windows IoT. I'd love to finally see full Ableton Live for desktop Linux, even though I've been a Bitwig user for years because of its support.
I'm a linux/mac user and I got Ableton working on my Linux workstation with wine and everything worked fine for the most part. Ableton was the only thing keeping me from fully dropping Windows for the longest time. I eventually decided to get a my first Macbook and I like it so much I bought an M1 from a friend.
When I was live streaming in Ableton Live I could record enable a vocal and a keyboard and play them both together. I have not been able to record enable two tracks on PUSH 3. Do you know how to do that? : )
Thanks. Mate. Pls tell me about the latency. With Push 3 hooked up to a midi keyboard controller. Can i use Push 3 on a gig 2 play built in vst sounds. Cheers.
how do you load a kick, snare or hihat individually into Simpler? I can instantiate a MIDI track with Simpler on it and then can browse presets which are few & far between; or browse samples (from the factory packs). But there are literally thousands of them and only sorted alphabetically. How do I search for e.g. a "kick"? Do I have to tag / favourite everything by myself??? 🤨🤬 EDIT: I somehow overlooked that "Drums" category also has sub-folders for one shots like kicks, snares, hihats, etc. That's very helpful:
I would like the option of simply using the USB connection to select my audio interface, but the videos so far seem to indicate that is not an option. I will find out in a few hrs!
Stand alone is a huge bonus i can just pick it up take my phones to the park and feed the ducks 🦆 🦆- Like any instrument if it's set up ready to go just you end up playing it more.
are you sure you'll see anything on the screen being outdoors? it works about 2-2,5 hours on battery, on full brightness working time will be reduced even more. working with this monstrosity on a bench would be too comical. and you can lie to us, but don't lie to yorself, you won't make anything usefull in that 2 hours under the sun near 🦆🦆🦆
@@ruslanr.6171 You're one of those negative personas aren't you!? A cynical man knows the cost of everything and the value of nothing!... Maybe you don't have the time in your life to experience the good things!? sorry if that's the case! I only stayed in the park for 40 minutes, I got some field recordings of kids playing in the rec area and the ducks beating wings and quacks as they flew over... I have sampled these back at home and got some nice stuff! ... I wouldn't have done this with ableton and push 2, wouldn't even have attempted it! all I'm saying is the option is nice. The park is on the way to my studio, so was pretty convenient... Just because you don't have to get up and go, don't be telling me what I can and cannot do! I think having the ability to do field recordings with my akg and the push, frees me up a bit! According to you it's not possible, watch this and STFU~ ua-cam.com/video/5tiWwpJ7mBA/v-deo.html
Yea thats my big issue with it its not the end all be all for finishing and arranging tracks. I liked that you could still record to arrangement mode when you were done with everything on 2 and someone even made an arrangement mode custom mode. Also the controls look like they absolutely suck. I wasnt a fan of the buttons on 2 this is just 2 but more complex and over the top. Its not more intuitive.
See I’m super intrigued by the push 3 and also the mpc one plus but I’m someone who works in arrangement view. Seems like these devices aren’t really versatile in that way. Would love to get some insight from you Decap or anyone else here in the comments
“More of a playful state.” That right there is what sold me. An unrecognized joy for-sure of the craft.

9:20 this is really good. Pristine sound through converters guaranteed. And yup costly option (>2k$ for great converters)
Awesomeness!🩷
Your drums have a vibe
The pc on its own is my standalone
How do u change volume of samples in drumrack. I can only figure out how to change the whole rack

Does it work the “Follow Actions” function for clips and scenes? To change manually every scene would be ridicolous… hope it works! Thanks!

Is it like note
Aye, push 3 is hard , but make a video about storing youur settings into RME Totalmix, coz mine is reseting when i change a snaps
Decap always good demos, please post your Push 3 videos also in the new independent group Ableton Push 3 Group.
Timberland 2.0 🔥

Nice demonstration, the 808 glide was cool from the pads. Isn't there a way to lock the glide to shift up or down to the second note that you hit?
2.5 hr battery life is underwhelming... Hopefully you'll be able to upgrade the battery or a firmware update that increases it.
Yea i need at least 4-5 hours when im really in the zone 😂 2 is a joke

good explanation and the beat was gudd
Hi, is there an arrangement mode on the push 3 itself ?
Yea thats my big issue with it its not the end all be all for finishing and arranging tracks. How much did you pay for your push3?

I want to upgrade to 2tb SSD
Hey! That's so cool! Feel free to reach out.
17:41 loll
No vsts? No arrangement view? That's not really "stand-alone" if you ask me. The MPE feature is the best function but not worth the jump
OMG that’s awesome! Let’s connect?
Love it:) Let's connect?
