I worked side by side with my parents for 30 years in our family business: I was beside of my parents bedside when they passed away. Both times, they each said how proud they were to work with me. We worked 6 days a week and Sunday was our only day off. Each Sunday morning, I would come over to my parents house and have breakfast, lunch, and help my parents with their yard work. I still miss it : Therefore,: I will always know that I am still the luckiest guy ever, and I am positively moving on in my life. OH YEA ! From this Marine.
I have worked jobs with both of my parents, education and then sales and then eventually back to education. They both helped me get my foot in the door, and I had to work to keep myself in it. I thought it would be a drag, but now I am eternally grateful for it. You eventually realize that your parents are your biggest fans and supporters and being around them brings you the warmth and reassurance that you need. I will forever be grateful for the lunches I was able to have with them, to go from rarely seeing them to being around them everyday.

Really felt like he was speaking to Monty, not monologuing to John Hamm. Jones stole the show.

Then I got interested and I just went on Wikipedia and it says that Sheridan wrote the whole of Landman himself. Sheridan writes pretty much all of his episodes. Which sounds absurd, but the most time consuming part of the writing process is the re-writes and accommodating the budget, and since Viacom has given him a blank check to do whatever he wants, I’d assume he takes very little notes from them as well. I assume he doesn’t get much sleep.
Jerry has turned the Cowboys into the most profitable NFL team in the league. Unfortunately, he and the team keep all of that money. Instead, he and the team reward the fans with not winning a championship in almost 30 years. But I'm glad the team's doing well financially. That's important to all of us fans. That Jerry has plenty of money.

I’ve laughed at Jerry Jones, reveled in his failures and enjoyed his missteps for the last 30 years. Maybe I was wrong. While I’ll never be a Dallas Cowboys fan, I am now a Jerry Jones fan.

I was born right here in Dallas Texas, same as my parents and grew up watching the Cowboys, my grandfather and mother screaming man - miss it.. and we love them no matter what happens. We just wish Jerry would “ take the Spring Chicken” part and let his kids or someone give the Cowboys a chance. I get how hard it will be and wanting to do it for your kids. But this gen of kids wants to do their own thing. Love Jerry and how he’s grown the business we have some iconic people and Jerry you are too!
This is just my opinion, I’d say it’s about 75% Jerry and just about 25% Taylor Sheridan, prolly just suggesting a few different word choices, maybe a few suggestions on which beats to emphasize. I’m also willing to bet good money that the direction was to “now tease Monty right before you leave” and Jerry came up with the rubber glove line

I believe it's called workshopping a scene, they came to Jerry and asked him what he was interested in saying. Out of multiple ideas Jerry came up with, the group chose the one that best fit the plot. Then they worked together to turn that into a cohesive monologue. That seems like the most practical logistics to work with a man that high profile.

While extremely fictional and somewhat silly Sheridan can make his shows, there really are solid advice and situations that he weaves into the scripts to make you stop and think about things.
Imo he also makes shows for us rural people. From yellowstone to this it's all relating and speaking to us. I'm from rural texas and all of us know someone in the patch. While silly and over the top sometimes it still gives a great look into our lives

One thing Jerry has done is kept his family real close when the bought the team. Brought his sons to run the organization and when Jerry dies, his son Stephen takes over as owner. His kids are in one way or the other part of running the team in the background. Always had at least one grand kid at the owner suite during the games and his grandson is at Arkansas football team and yes Jerry did win the national championship with Arkansas in 1964 as a center and Jimmy Johnson as defensive tackle. I am not joking. He's always kept his family real close to him since he bought the team.

My parents always wanted my brother and I to be doctors. Instead I became a lawyer, my brother got his doctorate but not in medicine. Our two parents had been practicing medicine for a combined total of 90 years when they retired. While we never followed in their footsteps it was only because they cast such a big shadow we could never surpass their achievements. In the end they knew it. We miss them both. My son misses his grandpa and grandma too. They were larger then life.
Since this aired last Sunday, I have watched this scene every day. I am trying to figure out a way to get what he said done. How did he tell us his story like that, with the emotions that he did, infront of really amazing actors. I wonder how that room felt once they yelled cut. That was a lot to take in as viewers, I'm sure Billy Bob and Jon were not expecting that. Amazing.
Jerry Jones failed to sling pizza's as a young man- borrowing over a million dollars in the 1970's to open up restaurants that failed. He failed at multiple business ventures in his 20's and 30's, going over 2.5 million into debt and primarily paid off by his father's insurance company. The plots of land purchased for 'homes' was really a smoke screen for starting a gas exploration company, his real intent and always was- and that is what landed him the capital to expand his business. The point I'm making is: You need to fail, again and again, before you and life come to terms and realize how best to prosper.

I like how he said "I figured if I was spending so much time out there I should get something going". That's what successful businessmen do. They don't just go somewhere and goof off, they are always looking for a business angle wherever they are or the current situation they find themselves in.
its crazy that in his time ppl would just lend him money to just build homes without any prior experience.....i think id be laughed out of every single legitimate bank, venture capital place, lender if I went and tried it today.
Who knows how many takes and how much prep had to go into this, but they stuck to it till it was perfect. I sure as sh*t don't want to chase my kids all over the country, I want them to have their own thing and let them be their own people. But I can't fathom the void I'll feel once they take off on their own. This is a solid message that thumps me square in the chest.

The plots of land purchased for 'homes' was really a smoke screen for starting a gas exploration company, his real intent and always was- and that is what landed him the capital to expand his business. The point I'm making is: You need to fail, again and again, before you and life come to terms and realize how best to prosper.

I like how he said "I figured if I was spending so much time out there I should get something going". That's what successful businessmen do. They don't just go somewhere and goof off, they are always looking for a business angle wherever they are or the current situation they find themselves in.
its crazy that in his time ppl would just lend him money to just build homes without any prior experience.....i think id be laughed out of every single legitimate bank, venture capital place, lender if I went and tried it today.

That being said, that was brilliant.
Who knows how many takes and how much prep had to go into this, but they stuck to it till it was perfect. I sure as sh*t don't want to chase my kids all over the country, I want them to have their own thing and let them be their own people. But I can't fathom the void I'll feel once they take off on their own. This is a solid message that thumps me square in the chest.
