@@wizardski2320 I'm kinda feeling so-so on that one... from the short clips it looks like it has the "wobble" in 3D that was, at the time an artifact from PS1 not having floating point math... not sure how they kept that but I feel like it was unintentional... emulated?

@@wizardski2320 I grew up playing RPG from this era, Wild Arms, Xenogears FF7-10 etc. Never played any of the Grandia games, but i am interested in getting this collection. I'm assuming I would like it, but really don't know much about this series, I somehow missed it.
@@FulkNerraIII Chances are good you will. Combat is pretty fun, basically a bar showing who is ready to do an action, hitting enemies bumps them backwards on the bar a bit and getting hit bumps you back. My main complaint is having to search for those items you need to learn magic.

When I was very young, I missed many classic RPGs. But I was lucky to not miss Grandia. This game has marked me so much that it is thanks to him that the genre RPG has become my favorite genre.
I have never replay since I finished it the first time almost 15 years ago. (and I still remember many things like the moment when we had to change CDs)
And although I still have the game (the only game I will never separate), I never dared to replay, for fear of "breaking" my nostalgia.
But I think this "Collection" comes at the right time.

They are all about pachinko machine and some medicine business they have. They are no longer primarely a games developer.
My hope is that Sony buys their IP's.

@@ShadowWolfRising I doubt their medicine business is affected. It is apparently their biggest one atm. In Japan Corona is controlled much better than in the west.
Look, it's not cause i am saying. It is known their current president doesn't care about the video games business and the only thing they still do is the yearly PES and mobile stuff. That is why they are on all these new businesses and didn't care that their image got nuked.
Konami is also notoriously a bad place to work on. The team that developed Suikoden disbanded a long time ago and as you know the creator is now making eyuuden. Silent Hill team is the same as is now with the MGS team. All they have is the PES team.
This is why rumors are rampant with Sony taking those IP's and putting their own developers on it.
I am a huge Suikoden fan, but i looked it up and i know it is completely hopeless unless it gets licensed to another company. Konami is utterly useless atm.

Yes, Grandia 3. You are indeed a joke.
There are rights issues with the other Grandia games so it will take some time before those get an HD update.
Given that it's on the PS3 as a PS2 classic chances are it won't make it anywhere else.

Star ocean is getting a remake.
SO 1&2 Remake is available on PSP/Vita and that SO2 Remaster is also available on PS4 afaik.
But I’d also really like all jrpgs PS1&2 era and everything that came as portable versions on Switch, it’s my go to console for everything indie and old school.
Tbh, I wouldn’t even need new AAA exclusives to justify buying it.

I love Grandia more than I can say. The original is still one of my favorite games of all time. It did something that I had wished more RPGs would do (and something that RPGs still dont really do) it showed the characters talking about what's happening to them on their down time, when they eat meals. Really made them feel human.
Like I said I love this game... but $40 is a lot of money for two twenty year old games... that I'm about to spend.

One of my favorite RPGs of all time both Grandia and Grandia 2, and for the switch too, amazing combo, I hope one day they release Grandia Xtreme, never tried that one before.

I’ve played through Grandia twice and only got about 75% through. The game is so long, but soooo good.

@@nightrain7377 nah I have played them. Though not the first one fully, it kept crashing on me. I just think 40 for a digital is way over priced, the company is making so much profit. I think they shouldn't be so greedy. No matter what game or how much I loved it I'd never pay that much. On the other hand a physical I happily would but they didn't give anyone that option.

Chaika Gaz No. I Love Grandia 2 but its Plot is pretty uninspired and takes on themes and twists which have been adressed dozens of times in Jrpgs. Don’t Play it for any „twist“ you will be disappointed otherwise.

Finished Grandia 1 on switch last month. It was an enjoyable game. Played and beat grandia 2 when I was 15 on the ps2. I love both games, but if I were to express my opinion on which one was better, I would say the first one.
Hope it gets a physical release soon! Just bought collection of mana!😎

Well crap, the first one is the one that needed it.
They both needed it. Actually Grandia II was harder because you could actually mess up in Grandia bad if you didn't understand the leveling system for skills/magic. I remember having to restart the game at the lone Justin vs Baal fight when I was like 12 because I didn't switch weapon types much so had none of the good special attacks and didn't have him learn water magic, and was out of healing items. lol
Love this, can't wait to revisit these stories.

I love the voice acting in these games. Like Ryudo in Grandia 2 is voiced by male Corrin from fire emblem.
I'm sorry, but all I can think of is male Corrin's laughable sobbing. I guess I'll see how his performance is in Grandia 2.
I guess they didn't have the uncompressed cutscenes anymore and couldn't remaster them, that's a shame.
