Who will Pochettino bring to the 2026 World Cup? l USMNT Roster prediction

- Tac and I, for the first time ever, take a stab at predicting Mauricio Pochettino's USMNT World Cup Roster for 2026. Because we have no data on Pochettino's Roster preference, it's lots of guess-work, speculation and prediction, which made it fun.

I don't think I'll ever fully realize we got Poch as coach, this is so surreal. By God, USSF actually did something good for once.
Ima need Nike to make a usa t shirt with a small animated big headed Pochettino with a small body right in the middle of the chest. I’ll buy every color
6 million bucks got him!
@@adrianbaker9451 He could’ve easily gone to a top 4 league with a club thats top 6 in the league that would’ve offered more. You could say he took the US job for an okay amount of money for what he’s worth with way less to do as far as club expectations go. I personally think he needed a break from Club football and wanted to take on a difficult side quest lol.
@@javv3973 Your deluded if you think he's getting that sort of money outside the prem, 6 million a year , highest payed International manager and not have to win the world cup.
Cindy, JT, and Crocker have guaranteed their jobs now for at least two more cycles with this Poch hire.
I'm excited to see if Poch can get us some new dual nats and if he can use his relationships with top clubs to get some of our players training and playing at these top clubs like Klinsmann did.
If you get 26 players, the last three should not just be the three next best players. They should be specialists; guys you don't want playing day to day, but somebody who is the best at one specific thing. For a example, a fifth center back shouldn't be the 5th best center back, it should be the best center back when you need to bunker late in the game - big and good in the air. Who cares if the 5th back is good playing it out of the back, they will just be clearing long. We should take an extra 9 that is great in the air for when we need a goal against a team that is bunkering late. Again, who cares how good they are with their feet in the open field, they won't be asked to do that.
Agree like Weghorst for Netherlands...
Ream is not Ronaldo level he shouldn't be included in the team while being in the mla for 3 years when he's almost pushing 40💀
Great show guys! While watching, Ruben told me that if a Japanese dual-nat chooses another country they MUST GIVE UP their Japanese citizenship 😮😩
I don't think Busio has the "Ganas" to play with the big boys, I'd prefer De la Torre .
REAM MILES 🤮🤮🤮🤮
🤦🏻♂️ how the hell did Chicago go from being bad to worst? FML
I hope Poch sees that the USMNT needs to strike quicker in transition in order to beat tougher opponents. Not enough quality in our CBs.
Did tac go to ubuff
Filippos geography is definitely bad
¿Brady?
"Those big-ass lakes"
Until we deemphasize winning in youth club soccer, pir goalkeepers will have difficulties with their feet. I saw this happen with my son and others. When he first started playing comp soccer in U9s, at eight tears old, he was identified as a goalkeepering prospect. He was quick, with good hands, tall for his age, and had little fear. I was okay with it because he really liked goalkeeping. The problem was from that point on, because he was his teams best goalkeeper, he played well over 90% of the time in goal. As he got older, this seriously hampered his ability to play with his feet. By the time he was in high school, even though he had good control in practice, he always just looked awkward in games if he was placed under pressure ay all. He was still the starter both high s pool and club, with colleges interested in him, but playing with his feet was always interesting. And when I watch USMT keepers, they look just like he did. (He gave up soccer in favor of ski racing for college.)
If your son was playing high school, he's not a real prospect.
Also like you're talking about the time it takes for CBs, and something I've been thinking about as a kid who hit a huge growth spurt and ended up 6'5" I was probably 22 or 23 before I fully could use my body like before I was so slow, couldn't turn and run, and was clumsy and lacked agility and I was a college athlete and by the end I was faster and stronger than almost all of the people who were more athletic before. I actually became fast and I was never fast so I think most taller guys take a bit longer on the more technical and athletic duties
Slonina won man of the match against a team that was in the prem last year lol he’s young he will figure it out
Can you just put a guy (Tessman) into a position (centerback) without having ever played there at the national team level? Is that realistic?
Also, Weah is good as a winger. He is pacey. He has more power with his outside shot in comparison to Dest. Barcelona tried Dest as a winger under Koemen, and it was not good.
Just food for thought...
If ggg gets the Chicago job, WE
100% NEED ggg / Chicago Dumpster Fire 🗑️🔥
T-shirt’s made!!! 💯💯💯
lol 😂🤣🤣🤣
Don't write off Lund.Jamie Vardy was 25 and still playing in conference in England and he went on to play for England and win the EPL. He would be one of the best US strikers of all time if he were an American and maybe the best. Ricky Lambert was 28-29 and still playing in League 1 and he would count as one of the best US strikers of all time if he were an American.Adam Lallana was playing in League 1 at 22 and he would be one the US's best wingers.
I'm still in shock that we got Poch
What knowing what he's getting paid😂
@@adrianbaker9451 it's less then what a club pays
Let’s go!
Winning the World Cup is the hardest Competition to win in football .
I believe the US will win the World Cup someday , very unlikely to win it 2026.
To win the World Cup you need serious preparation and some luck to go your way.
I believe if the US is in the right group and has a good pathway to the final they might make it to the quarter finals , if lucky semi finals , That’s it
Race in Spain, believe me I know...Spain had very talented team in many generations before, but only with after 2008...
LOVE the idea of trying out Dest as a WINGER!!! 🥳🇺🇸⚽️
Or as "carrilero" RB in a formation 5 in the back...with 3 CB and two LF-RB very high...
15:30 USMNT can try a back 3 with Dest as a Wing Back.
Yes
I love Dest at WINGER! I think he'd love that opportunity. How often do you see a defender take the ball so deep where most 9 would normally be?
Soccer is a weird sport where a coach puts a player gets put in a position of nerd and he never gets back to where he should be. Dest's weakest skill is defense only because he's bored
Sargent still over Pepi he doesn’t even say play for us ever he’s always injured
I disagree, why not try Lucho Acosta? He would give you a veteran presence and he is pretty talented even for MLS.
Tim Ream? Not a chance
Fun video, but you're definitely underrating Lucho Acosta. I don't know that he's an instant answer for the USMNT, but he's more than just a "good" MLS player.
20:50 I like how Richard's gets younger for the world cup.
No he doesn't
Age: 26
Age in 2026: 25😂
@@wileyjackson9945 it says age 24 bro
@@wileyjackson9945he fixed it nvrmind
Funny how so many players on the fence about choosing a country of the US versus Italy, Germany, or other elite countries and the reality they'd never make the European team! Balogun would never make England's swuad
Maloney and Adams double pivot
Cardoso musah double pivot
Gonzalez Patricia Gonzalez Timothy Gonzalez Patricia
Slonina has to get footwork better and then he might be fine. Still young so I see him more in 2030. Same goes for Diego Kochen. Because he still is raw and still needs to be in the mix of division 1 play. Way too many unknowns.
I thought Jalen Neal would have taken a leap by now, but he has been terrible for the Galaxy the last 3 games. Galaxy fans like me have been calling for his benching in favor of Garces. He's struggling in being an MLS CB right now.
Soma played well today
Yo @11 Yanks -- Is it feasible to bring in some of the dual-nats to the camp. The active roster for the friendlies is 26, but why can't we bring some guys in even though they won't play? They can paticipate in training, meet the coaches and players, learn the system, etc.
Italy has a bad history with players of African decent. Poche is also of Italian decent and probably speaks some Italian. Hope Poche calls Koleocho.
I think it’s highly aspirational to recruit any Japanese dual nats who were raised in Japan. Reason being is that Japan doesn’t allow dual citizenship so in order to play for the USMNT they’d have to give up their Japanese citizenship
pete misplacing Maryland by the great lakes. where is the mason dixon line.... MD in south great lakes north
I'd take Aiden Morris over Maloney and Busio. He's just better than both of them.
Another Pepi dis 😂
Pepi will one day play in a top 4 league and they still will be hating on him
💯
I agree with Tac on the Tim Ream inclusion. There’s no guarantee that his skills at CB are going to significantly erode in MLS the way that Dempsey’s or Bradley’ did. The one area that MLS is willing to spend money on is in the attack. Tim Ream will still be challenged. If he’s still playing at a high level then we’d be silly not to add him to a 26 man roster. If you’re good enough then you’re young enough.
Ya no quiero ver a Turner, Ream, Aaronson y Pepi en la selección 🤮
Erik Palmer, IF stay healthy maybe have a shoot...
these guys are still pushing the tessman CB agenda lmao
Would LOVE to see dest at winger
I agree with Tac. Ream will be there.
Go “Porsche”tino!!!! USA!
I actually like lucho Acosta
What about Scally as CB?
Try dest as a 10
AND Richy Ledezma ?
And Juan Soto
Ledesma y Soto, ambos jugadores horribles
👏👏👏 kudos to you both for hounding GGG and the USSF… Your efforts have helped US soccer grow.
Hopefully Poch gets sacked and Gregg gets to make the roster for 2026
Which is what will probably happen.. we’ll go 10-0 but then lose against Spain in a friendly right before the World Cup starts and they’ll sack him and rehire Greggy.
@@RickyRicardo84 he will have job long before then
@@samplingmastersxlr8660 it is possible, I agree. The junior college down the street from my house is in need of a soccer coach.
Guti will love GGG in Chicago he might be completely ignored there too
Thanks
For the USMNT to be really successful - especially at the 2026 WC, There needs to be fundamental change in the composition and play of the USMNT.
First, the solution to the backline is to have a three centerback formation of McKenzie, CCV, and Richards in that order.
2. You solve the midfield problem by playing a counterattacking style, meaning no McKinney, no Musah, and no Weah. You have to prioritize quality over toughness and athleticism.
3. A dual striker formation with Sargent and Balo. Sargent can play like an 8 in the midfield and as a striker in the final third; Balo likes to play facing the goal and Sargent can open that up for him because Balo then doesn't need to play deep in the final third; he can effectively play as a roaming striker who looks for one on one.
4. Goalie is a big problem; if Matt Turner isn't playing regularly at his club - any club, then it has to be Patrick Shultzie.
Below is the USMNT's best formation:
3-2-3-2
Shultzie
McKenzie/CCV/Richard
Robinson/Adams
Pulisic/Reyna/Tillman
Sargent/Balo
This lineup has speed, quality, and a really strong defense.
I like the idea of Tanner Tessman as a center back!!!
He would be good at that I
believe!!! 🇺🇸⚽️🙂👍🏼
Both of you guys routinely call for mistake-machines like Chris Richards and CCV or even Mark McKenzie who isn't good to be on the roster, but then someone like Aaron Long who is better defensively, faster, & better on the ball than all of those guys got constant ridicule. Long didn't even make any mistakes. We actually have a highlight of Long staying in front of Ousmane Dembele who is basically the best 1v1 dribbler in the world, plus he's basically the fastest player in the world along with Mbappe. You two actually claim Long looked bad in this clip where he stops Dembele from doing anything dangerous. This type of bias is just obnoxious & ridiculous. Nobody can go on social media without you two laughing at MLS players who don't make mistakes AND you insist on your guys who make essentially non-stop mistakes or they play poorly: Richards, Johnny, Musah, McKenzie, Balogun, Tillman, etc. Now we've got Jalen Neal who falls into the same category.
@@colinreese If Aaron Long was that good, he'd be playing for a good club in Europe
Randall Wreck también es un buen prospecto de la misma edad de Neil y además tenemos a Nolan Norris, que lo hizo bastante bien en el premundial
Y por qué no colocar en el mediocampo a Brooklyn?
@@nerychristian This
every claim you make shows you don't know ball.. watching aaron long for two seconds, one can see he doesn't have a high soccer iq (which unfortunately tends to be the case for MLS based Americans). Also Ousmane Dembele's is fast but his first touch verges on Lukaku level
