Rudy: "Triomes are going to tank"
Me a commander player: "yes please"
Lol right?
I’m mqking a high power Najeela deck and want the set for the deck
Pretty much print them into oblivion please lol.
Not that great in edh either.
>High power
>lands that etb tapped
Yeah, ok, scrub.
Fierce guardianship=money
I was really surprised when he blew by it without a "Whoa!"
Me too
@DARPA I highly doubt that, every commander player wants one.
@DARPA dockside is still 25+
DARPA Maybe if it gets reprinted. But doubtful. Free counter spells are a hot commodity because of cEDH and this is a damn good one. Arguably better than Force of Negation in most situations.
First pack: nonchalant $30- $40 commander card
Rudy: …
Me: HOLY FLOPPY TACOS ITS THE MOST EXPENSIVE COMMANDER CARD
Rudy: ...
Commander prices are going to tank once they get through the reprint.
Pulled a 50 dollar ghidora on second pack
Dusty Fox not true, it’s the future of paper magic. Notice how commander is driving prices up through the pandemic. Standard can have its future in digital, people don’t want to have to keep up with buying and selling cards to stay relevant in a rotating format. Commander is what has driven up cards like mana crypt and mana drain and cyclonic rift even though they keep getting reprints.
@@acollectorslifeforme4201 exactly why i stopped playing standard.
It can be bought for less than $13 on TCG player.
The words mythic, rare, and uncommon have lost all meaning.
especially for commander when most of the supply comes in a premade deck
I dont see the problem. People already complained that mythic cards are the chase cards so if they overprint them thats fine
Don't forget extended art as well!
And box toppers
@@qlcrane8019 the point is if they over print them then they are not mythic but commons
I remember when getting a mythic in Alara or Zendikar was incredible. Now they've really spoiled the value of it.
I'm like WOOOOWWW as he just blows by fierce guardianship
Best card in c20.
and that as first rare
I'm going all in on Godzilla virus cards. I hear those babies are going to $500 and more! 📈
Those foil borderless / alt-art Triomes look incredible!🤩
The comic book art gets two big thumbs up from me.
I'm gonna swoop in when they hit bottom, but'em all from the LGS.
But they come out tapped that's an instant throw away land to me
I miss the old hand drawn style of art. All the computer generated stuff we have had for years feels souless.
@@randallmiller5610 um no sir I will take all of the ones you throw out. These lands are the best lands since fetch or shock lands. You can fetch them and later in the game when your flooding you can cycle them these lands are great
Thank God for Rudy's hot tips. I'm liquidating my Triome's futures positions ASAP to do a buyout on Godzilla virus cards.
What are those other tri lands worth? Come into play tapped? Not worth a lot, good for casual but not competitive, weak vs any zoo or rush deck and only average vs mid range because they are so slow, need to board wipe to delay and sometimes zoo survives the wipe.
@@SCP-001DatabaseAdministrator The tri lands are purely for edh, the cycling is useful but kinda eh, the real value is that they are tri lands you can get with cards like Farseek, Rangers Path, and Skyshroud Claim.
I love what they are doing with the orange rares in this set 😍
you mean mythics?
BleachFan2007 that’s the joke
Heard they were renaming Death Corona.
Its Spacegodzilla Death Covid now.
Managed to get that as my box topper. Funny how ridiculously expensive that card is...
@@voxkine9385 MIght retain value because of the rename too. Plus it looks cool as heck!
VP Perf not is, WAS
Bcc Bcc it’s still like $30... that’s still insane for what it is.
watching this on the toilet while taking a dump, just like what wotc has been doing to mtg systematically for yearssss
This is your company on diversity
Casually pulls a commander card that costs like the full commander deck alone 😂
I don't get the impression he plays much commander
Joseph Raus I know but he does play the money game. I thought he would know what the big price cards even if they were from Commander 😅
That is far from the truth for a lot of commander players, some people's decks are even more expensive as a legacy deck
Rudy IS FUCKING Ridiculous!!!!!!! Just breezes by a super expensive card.. more concerned with the triple lands. How do you own a shop RUDY?!?!?!
@@Xedrix He's talking about the precons that have the card
Yes everyone, full art triomes are worthless don't buy them and sell low to get out while you can. Also link me your listings.
LOL.
1st pack: Highest priced card from Commander 2020.
Rudy: ...*
2nd pack: Highest priced nonfoil card possible
Rudy: ..... *
yeah was wondering abt that
LUL
Your under the impression Rudy plays magic. He sells magic. He makes these videos to make money from ad revenue, not to get excited about cards you care about.
Let that man run his business.
El gordo your comment is so silly. 1st of all Rudy doesn't sell magic on UA-cam. He makes money by entertaining us and
He reacts to magic cards on UA-cam
And so this comment is totally correct cause he didn't react to anything he was suppose to react to which is much less entertaining.
NOT THE MAMA, NOT THE MAMA!!!
- Dinosaurs
5:19
5:19 90’s TV show called Dinosaurs! The baby dinosaur was famous for saying “Not the Mama!”
theoneandonlylored omg the poor father
No, the show was called Barney!!
5:21 *_"Wasn't there a dinsaur tv show in the 90's?"_*
_Dinosaurs is an American family sitcom television series that was originally broadcast on ABC from April 26, 1991, to October 19, 1994. The show, about a family of anthropomorphic dinosaurs, was produced by Michael Jacobs Productions and Jim Henson Television in association with Walt Disney Television and distributed by Buena Vista International, Inc. The characters were designed by Henson team member Kirk Thatcher_
Give me the 'normal' triomes over the cartoon ones anyday!
Full art triomes are going to never go down in price
Day 52 of commenting every day until Rudy restocks T-shirts.
Sad
Stay the course
They’re coming soonish but Patrons are getting first dibs if I’m not mistaken.
I remember it the Dinosoar tv show in the 90’s they called it Cliffard
I think he was refering to Jim Hensons "Dinosaurs". The baby was just called "Baby (Sinclair)". The show was awesome.
Not the Rudy! "floppy taco smack"
@@mbjnr8780 Not ta mama, not ta mama.
I'm the baby
@@urieldraconis857 I'm the Timmy!
Last time I was this early Rudy's arms were hairless
Rudys arms have never been hairless
Daystarcreations r/ wooosh
that wasnt his arm....
Borderlands is all I think of when I see the new art !
See when Rudy throws the boxes into the table it increases the taco quantity by 0.53%, although reduces the quality by 0.21%
i prefer the regular art triomes on 4/5
Agreed. The comic book art ones look lame AF.
Afraid they might be slowly switching to easier/cheaper to draw anime/comic style
The 90's dinosaur show you are thinking of is called Dinosaurs. The baby kept yelling "NOT THE MAMA" when talking to it's dad.
I got a couple of extended art foil triomes in my packs and I'm selling them as quick as possible. They're just not going to cut it in eternal formats long term IMO.
You're not wrong. They're amazing lands whose amazingness is completely negated by entering the battlefield tapped. There's no reason to play something like that in formats that have fetchlands.
nice yugi-oh cards
Dinosaur TV Show in the '90's was Land of the Lost. The tiny dinosaur was called Tasha and it was kind of pink :) Also, look for Godzooki, the comic relief character of the Godzilla cartoon series.
I dunno how your videos originally started showing up in my YT feed, but I'm subbed now! Love the stories about historic card sets, investments and life lessons. I don't even play magic XD
It was either 11 or 12 full art, foil, "box topper" cards in the first box... And 9 in the second box.
If you think triomes are going to tank in price, Breeding Pool is close to $30 for an in standard rare. Triomes are fetchable, and cyclable.
Oh yeah, that first C20 rare is about $40 for a free counterspell.
If Triomes would be fetchable I could have done it in MtGA. It is not possible
@@Frkr. crack a fetchland, you can go get one since they're typed
Adam Bandurak, what they meant was that Triomes aren't fetchable with Standard fetches Fabled Passage and Evolving Wilds (which can only fetch basics)
It's a good card for commander but other formats have way better fetchable lands
pack 1 fierce, WHAT
Lol he has no idea 😂😂
Pack 1 fierce, pack 2 ghidorah and taco man has no floppies for either... not even a giggity
Seen a few patreon spots opened up. Luckily was able to snag one
I thought it was closed?
I feel like there are mixed messages when Rudy trails off trying to say there's not a ton of collectors booster but then goes right back to saying there's a rediculous supply of these cards.
First pack Fierce Guardianship! Almost spit my tea over my keyboard.
I like the direction magic is going with the art
The dinosaur show from the 90's was called Barney
I opened 3 collector boxes. In total i had 39 mythics , 2 Full art foil triomes , 14 full art triomes and 5 regular foil triomes. 2 Virus-zilla
My boyfriend doesn't play Magic, but he loves Godzilla. We bought a box from our lgs, he bought a Collector's Booster, and a foil Destroyah and a foil Dorat.
Out box topper was Destroyah and he got a foil Dorat form the pack.
5:18 son of godzillia also reminds me of dinosaurs old tv series gotta love the baby!
Rudy with the nonchalantly opening a fierce guardianship
No joke. i have bought exactly 2 collectors pack at a store.
Got the comic pws for Narset in one, and that new guy in the other.
Gets a $30 card in the first pack and doesn’t even realize it
Yea he doesn't seem to realize the value in the commander slot. He really needs to do his research on that part
That drove me bananas 🍌
With how much money he has in this do you think he cares about a $30 card?
He should; knowing the price of cards is literally his job. Like... hes not some channel who just cracks packs for fun, he runs a business in which he deals with cards, and knowing the prices of said cards is crucial.
@@vert2048 what makes you think the prices matters? he just buys when you are desperate to sell.
Pack one fierce guardianship what a freaking start😲
Yea I got it in my first pack too
"Comes into play tapped".
Welp. Into the trash it goes!
I’m sure people have laid out the pack order but this is what I’ve seen after all the foil commons/uncommon: commander card, extended art, foil rare (box topper slot), 3 alternate arts (the last one being a rare or mythic), Godzilla alter, foil altered art
Rudy, I think you should try playing commander. I know it's Godzilla session outside but I think it would help you see the value in certain cards that seem normally useless, it would help you predict prices when new sets come out because people flock like sheep to commander net decks
What a great time coming home from work everyday and have a Rudy video alwais there to wait you, such a good way to relax, thanks Rudy
All prices in US are a fraction here in Europe...be smart; buy in bundle from EU (cuz shipping is only 20 bucks).
I'm a lapsed casual MTG player from the 90s who still drops in every couple of years to see how the game evolves...mainly via websites / online / arena but most recently via Rudy's videos.
If it weren't for the mana symbols, I wouldn't even recognise this as a MTG set! I can barely keep track of all the rarities / foils / box toppers / commanders / planeswalker cards as it is....
RUDY, the Boneyard Lurker comic book style looks like CTHULHU!!!!🙀🙀🙀🙀🙀🙀🙀
Rudy! I noticed I got my Emrakul from you off ebay! I think that's so cool!!
Nice Asian game, what is it, Force of Well?
Can u smell that? That's the start of a dumbsterfire
Hey Rudy. You probably noticed that but anyways....some cards in Ikoria have two versions with different names. One example is the Gemrazer. In its “Godzilla” version it is named Anguirus, Armored killer. Likewise, the Everquill Phoenix is called Destoroyah, Perfect Lifeform, among others, such as Gyruda, Vadrox etc. Additionally, those cards may have 3 or 4 drawing version. Yes...lots of information 😂. Maybe it is something nice to mention during these first videos. Thanks for the videos!!!!
Yeah I'm a fan of the art for all these collector's sets, especially Throne.
Rudy, can you track Cloudpiercer alt art? I opened about five of them in one box and two of them in a fat pack.
Dayum first pack fierce guardianship.. I bought timeless wisdom just for that card..gonna keep it sealed though..Rudy style
I want to get at least one of the Godzilla promos each, but Ghidorah being around 80 bucks here in maple syrup land, it's a bit much these days. Should I wait for prices to drop on them, or do you think some of them will retain the value on them right now?
If you are paying $20 per pack, they better be mythic and landcycle loaded. I kind of like the collectors boxes. They drive initial prices down, but i don't think they will actually kill the regular sealed product down the road. It lowers the price of entry to standard deck building, and the sealed products will keep going up the more people crack collectors boxes with no reprints. Ikora might be an exception if all the good cards keep getting banned though, and it is hard to tell the long term value of these lands outside of commander. They might possibly be a mainstay in pioneer with out fetches though, simply because they make 3 different sources of mana allowing for a ton of reliable splashing in more midrange/control decks.
Somehow you're unboxing videos allways pop up when I'm in the bathroom.. perfect timing!
Is it time to invest in the Triomes? or do you think they will drop even further? the full arts are selling for around 7-8$ each
Colossification is a cool card I think. I tend to use weaker, cheaper to cast creatures rather than heavy hitters so that card can really pick things up at the right time. Yea it's high mana cost but if your green deck doesn't ramp idk what you're doing
The movie was called Baby! It was about a baby dinosaur in modern day seperated from its mother.
*Rudy cracking Fierce guardianship first pack, doesnt lose his mind in 2020*
Rudy! Take a look at that Fierce Guardianship card, and it's market value ($50)
I don't mind the triomes dropping to 3-5 bucks a pop. That's pretty much the max you'd wanna pay for a land that comes in tapped as a default. I really liked it when the checklands were in standard during the Ixalan-Dominaria standard when those were 2-5 bucks a land. Building 3 clors would be easier and cheaper for us casual scrubs if and when these fall down...
I wonder what a draft would look like with these boxes.
I want all 5 of the foil showcase triome's. Should I buy them all now for between 25/35 dollars or should I wait a bit. I'm not to concerned if the go down a couple bucks but I don't want to spend that amount if even the foil showcase's go down to 10 bucks.
Do you think these alternate art cards will have value long term. Like after they rotate out of standard? I have been trying to get complete sets of them. Purely cause I think they are so cool.
Lol first rare is fierce guardianship :/
It feels like these collectors boxes are really helping to keep the normal printings of (most, minus a few) rare and mythic prices low which I am a big fan of. Also noticed a big difference in the comic book art cards in the kit packs in contrast to none in the half dozen regular packs. Perhaps unlucky :(
Loved this video. The alt art triomes look amazing. Also I agree about the C word Godzilla. How could anybody possibly think it would be more expensive than something like grim monolith or other RL cards with actual demand??? If it was a rare or mythic then maybe but uncommon and being a common uncommon at that.
Modern is going to need these for a long time... also masterpieces are for collections and trade not only blinging deck. There is so much older stuff really hard to get reasonable packs.
I love the full art triomes existing because I think they look lame as hell, so I can get the nice ones that look like magic cards cheaper. x)
In the 80's there was a Godzilla cartoon that had a baby named Godzookie.
A regular Ikoria box should have about 3 triomes. Just like the shocks in Guilds/Allegiance. That's what will set the price level of them, not a few in the very expensive collector boxes.
They will probably tank for now. You need to open the booster boxes and find out just how hard it is to get a full art Triome
THe full arts and full art foils won't tank. Those are going to be the only desirable versions. The supply of the standard version and standard foil version of the triomes will far surpass the demand, putting them in the dollar rare bin. For people running 3 color commander decks, many of these full art triomes will be an inclusion.
Yeah, was going to jump on these hard, but I think I wont use the card art/current price as an wmotio response and I will wait it out. Lurrus full art foil on the other hand...
as someone who played and loved the artwork of force of will, you'd think I would like the new artwork of these magic cards. I can't get into them though, really doesn't look like magic cards. When Rudy said, nobody is gonna want these cards (the plain original) when they have these (the ridiculous comic art).... you can pass those "boring ole" cards my way if you don't want them haha.
Rudy: *opens packs with tons of mythic rares, foils, alternate art cards*
Me: *Longingly looking at at vanilla Fierce Guardianship*
Rudy track those fierce guardianships
Non foils were going for $18-20 and foils going for $35-40 as of Saturday night. Also I totally agree about the art of the triomes. No one will want the basic triomes. Doesn’t matter if they are $0.25 a piece. People are going to want the fancy shiny because that is the whole point of them.
Rudy - The TV shows was called "Dinosaurs".
So I got 2 fat packs today. One of them was nothing special but the second one had a foil rare/mythic in every single pack. More value than a booster box to be honest. Figured it was stupid dumb luck. Guy I know who lives a few minutes away said he got a fat pack and it had the same deal. Wondering if there is printing errors going on.
So I think that tyhe difference between this and theros is variance. where theros had basically only 5 different mythics that youd obtain easily(cough cough gods) and the walkers as far as mythic alt arts. i think the combination of all the variants of cards in ikoria will make it still a good experience and be funb to open because of how many possible variants of most of the mythics their are
WOoooooOW! dude pack one first commander card $40+
Nice pull!
Posted 16 seconds ago.. I'm not even considered a "minute man".. 🤔
The triomes are very common in regular packs as well
Good. I want to buy em cheap and let them go up for a few years after Ikoria goes out of print.
What are your thoughts on the commander 2020 product rollout? Also thanks for the vids as usual, always very entertaining.
But the spacegodzilla card is 100-300 on ebay tho
What formats do you play?
I got both a regular Ooze and an extended art foil Ooze back-to-back in the same pack yesterday.
Actually you get more art in normal cards than in cards that are supposed to have extended art. Shady as it gets Wizards of the coast.
First pack Fierce Guardianship and Rudy just: "..."
That's what I was thinking as well... Of all the commander cards, that is THE card pull.
Trilands for life.
Collector packs are awesome love the cool artwork
14:00 no swamp/plains/island however, that'll be 8 dollars and 4, making the reg boxes 1 and 2-3 respectively.
