      Hello Brian .you said you are a locksmith. I noticed my neighbor can get to my flat easily and I changed the lock several times but still, it happens. How this could be possible? what else can I do?

      @@mhgace3686 Do you have a deadbot or only a handle/knobset? If you don't have a deadbolt, the spring latch could be being slipped. Could also be that your neighbour is picking or bumping your locks.

      @@Ghost_Os it is a deadbolt. But some how he can open and close the flat door without any problem! I don't know what to do? and how to prevent this? Please any idea

      @@mhgace3686 A few possibilities immediately come to mind;
      1. He's bumping (a good locksmith will know how to modify the lock and key to prevent it). Bumping often (but not always) leaves tell-tale marks on the face of the lock, at the area of the keyway.
      2. He's just picking it. You could get someone out to rekey it, and tell them you want security pins and a pinning that's difficult to pick. Unfortunately, these steps only make a lock more difficult, not impossible.
      3. He may be using a Lishi or similar decoding tool. This would allow him to actually make (or have made) a working key. The security pins mentioned in scenario 2 would make his first time work a little harder, but that's it.
      4. Probably unlikely, but he could be hand-impressioning a key.
      5. Measure the length of your deadbolt when it's fully extended. Then, measure the depth of the hole it goes into. Make sure the hole is at least deep enough to accomodate the full length of the deadbolt. If it's not, make it so. If a deadbolt is unable to fully extend, it can be worked back into the door with an icepick or similar tool. You can check your deadbolt for any odd scratches or gouges.
      Two things I would suggest (I'm presuming you're certain that he's entering via that door);
      1. Invest in some manner of camera system (one that would allow you to see what he's doing would obviously be ideal).
      2. Check out Bowley locks. They're a little pricey, and the key takes a little getting used to (and can't be copied at a hardware store - each key is registered with the company and a duplicate can pretty much only be had from Bowley), but they're very good locks. I'm not prepared to say that they can't be picked, but would require specialized tools (which I don't think exist) and I'm not aware of anyone having picked one yet. Lishi and similar decoders will not work. Bumping won't work. Impressioning is theoretically possible, but would require specialized knowledge, tools, and materials. Very very unlikely. All this means: make sure you don't lose your key or lock yourself out.
      I'm curious how you know it's the neighbour doing it, and why you haven't contacted the authorities. Do you absolutely know, or strongly suspect?
      In any event, your best bet for putting a stop to it is probably a Bowley deadbolt. Google for "Bowley Lock Company".

    Agreed there is no possible way this method works. It's not possible to walk the pins up over the sheer line! The spring will push them down every time you take tension off the cylinder. Nice try though almost made me get out of bed to try it before logic kicked in.

    Why take the time to file a key a good set of picks is like 20 dollars and fits in my wallet picking a lock takes 5 minutes tops and if your not robbing anyone who cares how loud you are. Hell when I was in Boy Scouts we learned how to pick locks with 2 paper clips generally just as easy but sometimes a bitch to work with
