thanks so much, this came in real handy! had to rename 2000 photos because the file names were too long to work on my digital photo frame. Needed to be 10 digits or less. So much better than renaming them individually!
Ok now the challenge... I have folder A and folder B... Both folders have subs and both have multiple duplicate images with different names, normal in A, and upscaled at B... Now I want to rename all the files in folder A with the respective names of the duplicate at B, than I want to get rid of the folder A original file, and move the folder B renamed duplicated to the very place the folder B duplicate was just deleted... Do you know a tool for this? Rename and replace, or swap names and swap images based on content or image similarity?
Hmm I think partially I just am not understanding what you want to do... But having read this 3 times... I just don't see WHY you would want to do this... Like yes, you can rename and replace just by selecting the destination folder as the folder you want to replace, and then renaming the images with the same file names as what's already in there... But I just don't see why this would be necessary or helpful... Haha. Sorry I'm not more help! Good luck
@@SignatureEdits ohhhh it's about moding, specifically "porting". Multiple versions of the same games have different folder structures... Such feature would reduce by far the work of importing the upscaled ones to the old folder of the old ones... Virtually would help a lot for multiple mods of multiple games
@@SignatureEdits checking also with xnview forum as their software has everything necessary at their duplicate finder, not only to bin but copy and move as well, still it lack the ability of renaming and replacing/exchanging... Each individual move to or copy to, must be made manually and don't have a "to the duplicate directory" option... So it's of no avail as it is "yet"
A versatile, free and fresh looking app from the mac appstore, which helped me a lot exporting my pictures and also vids (mp4 and mov) from Photos app to my file structure by renaming and also changing the creation date is "Photo Naminator". The developer seems to be a dedicated guy. My custom preset is ./IMG_ f.e. IMG_20221124_235910 creating and reading folders/subfolders is also possible. Can´t imagine to leave any wishes open but he maybe will react to feedback.
I am grateful for this video . . . been looking for a free solution that isn't too terribly complicated!

Same program for mac or pc! So on pc everything is identical :)

I believe so but not 100% sure - It's free though so worth a try!
