Great video…. 1st - by not using the app to work should it be closed ? Or minimized 2 make it work faster. ALSO how about multiple Libraries? Do you need it to b logged into it ?
If you have multiple libraries… why? I would merge those into one. If the photos sync with iCloud and you have one photos library designated as the system library then the photos app doesn’t need to be open for the People scanning to happen because iCloud does that in the background. If you have several libraries and they aren’t syncing with iCloud then I would assume you need to have the library open and photos app open, in the background. If you want help merging libraries I do that all the time. You can book with me from here: macinhome.com/booking/ Cheers! Lucas
Thank you for this video. Question: when it says "not using the app" does that mean the app is open and you're just not using it at the moment (ie on another window), or that the app needs to be closed entirely (ie, "quitting" the app)?
If your photos sync through iCloud to your Mac then you don’t need to keep the Photos app open! And if they don’t sync via iCloud then I’m just not sure if the app needs to be open or not.
Great Video ! Need help tho- when i start typing to name the person it shows almost duplicate contacts listing so how do you know which one to pick - sometimes shows the phone number other times pulls up 2 contact information lines… unsure how to clear them all out
Yeah that could be a couple things… I would start by checking in your Contacts app on the Mac. See if there are duplicates there. Then see in People if you have 2 or 3 of the same name / person and merge them. I made another video about merging. If you want me to check just book an hour with me 😊 macinhome.com/booking/ - Lucas
The people section in photos only lets you do one person at a time but you can totally make a smart album that has two or more people! If you go to File -> new smart album, then set the criteria that “people” include each person… hit the plus to add another criteria and keep adding the people. Then make sure to change it from “All” to “Any” in the little drop down.
I have a family photo that only had box to place name and many that did not have a box to place the name. How can I put a box for that person or animal?
This doesn't work for me at all. I've got a library of about 30k photos, the app just doesnt want to list any persons, when I name a person (my partner, of whom I've got hundreds of pictures) I can't seem to find any additional pictures of her.... I mean, what is this?
Might need some technical repair / help with your Mac or photos library! If you get to the point that you want to pay a pro let me know and I’ll save the day! - Lucas
Ok so what I get from this is the photos program on the phone and the iPad are not the same as the photos program on the Mac - the features I need that you demoed are on the Mac ONLY

Yes with the People section there is some stuff you can only do on the Mac, indeed! What are you trying to do on the iPad that you can't?
how to find solo pictures of a specific person?
That is a bit trickier but you can do it with smart albums. I can show you that in a one-on-one consult. Book anytime! macinhome.com/booking/
