The voice actor who played the fight announcer just absolutely killed it. He did so well i still love hearing it and occasionally quote him in real life, even all these years later.
It’s Jeff Bennett, voice of Kyle Katarn and other characters in less known games like Galactic Battlegrounds and actually voice of Revan in The Old Republic games.
I’m surprised this was cut content. I could have sworn I ran into Duncan on Manaan when I played through KOTOR on iOS. Maybe that version restored some content.
Yeah i remember this too, but for me I think I remembered it from the original Xbox. I only ever played kotor on Xbox and pc. Didn't really got far in the pc version.
Cool to learn more about Kotor and its cut content. I would have never guessed that Deadeye Ducan survived the destruction of Taris. Ducan taking the title might help him for some time, but it might also put him in danger, as employers might send him to very dangerous tasks, or someone eager to be a legend might hunt him. As i love the star wars game from the expanded universe, i'm always eager to see more content on them, and maybe discover news things about them like this cut content, or missions like the droid mission on Korriban, that you did. Anyways, thanks for the great video and have a good day/night.
Lets say Duncan is at another planet. You see him and he is just the Sole Survivor now. A raving killer challenged him to a death match or it was his fame. The killer, upon whipping out his guns in that match, accidentally choked on his spit or something absurd. Duncan won, by a technicality, so people assume the fight with Starkiller had to have been fake too. So when he told his story about escaping taris, he revealed the true gift of fame from the Force.
Kreia would not approve. He will only limp on and possibly get himself into far worse troubles. Far better if he had to struggle on and found a means to stand on his own without a crutch.
Fun fact: you can actually get a mod which restores Deadeye Duncan's survival on Manaan, although the mod doesn't have him walk away after you talk to him. It's a surprisingly useful mod, since being nice or mean to him gives light/dark side points and you can repeat the conversation as many times as you want. Thus, you can set your alignment when you want (for example, if you've been light or dark for most of the game, you can switch to the opposite with a quick trip to Manaan). Sometimes I play light side for most of the game, but then go entirely dark after the Leviathan.
So I got this game from my Mother's Best Friends first husband, the year it came out. Played this game to death because it was my first star wars jedi experience in a game. Only played the Battlefronts prior to this, and the OG clone wars game.
Deadeye Duncan is an actual character development example: from cocky & pesimist to cheerful & survivalist (sort off). Well, no... actually he is! It's like Eugene in TWD, he had to lie of who he was to on others in way to have this status and so called "Immunity", this extra luck for being the high fashion duelist and all so he could live. His strategy sucks, yes because it depends on lies and either you ger caught and wrecked (liar liar, pants on fire) or you get away with it but a full guilt trip stands behind you and yourself knowing your a sack of s. So, you survive somehow at least until you have to carry on to what you said you was. In any case, he still had the worst luck ever... I mean, imagine you survive the biggest massacre ever (before Dantooine) and yet you still are recalled as a loser: that's awful! It's gotta suck. So, instead you tell people you are the famous star The Mysterious Stranger. NOW here is what I can't get through... People knew about Duncan: how come none of those bobbleheads could recall his face? If even HE said that the only not known duelist as in physival appearance was Revan? (He said that implicitly, if that's even a word lol... I hate my bad english). In any case, I'm happy for the character and curious that I saw the Eugene complex way much before TWD. Funny
I remember feeling sorry for character like Duncan. And then I lost to him! It wasn't first time either I actually finished Kotor before where i had no problem beating hi, then I finished Kotor 2 and then some time later I felt like playing Kotor 1 again and Duncan defeated me. I don't know how I am not sure if I did it on purpose anymore or not. I just remembered him making fun of me to this day.
Wouldn't letting him take the name just end up getting him killed? Kreia taught me that the Light side option isn't always the best option for the other party.
One could argue that Kreia’s logic applies to the outcasts in the undercity. If you don’t help them, they’ll die an instantaneous death from the Sith bombardment. If you help them, they’ll live a little bit longer after discovering the promise land but will gradually die a slow death following the aftermath of the Sith bombardment affecting their living conditions with an addition of the rackghoul plague spreading like mad. So which is better? Pick your poison.
I would kind of find it amusing if he uses the Mysterious Stranger title and gets sent to the Rift Station, and barely made it through the door because he's a horrible shot.
"Hardest fight in Taris" Tell that to Rage Box, he exploited him via switching weapons, where Bendak would switch weapons too. He found out that Bendak's slow af when switching weapons, so Rage Box kept switching Melee and Ranged weapons to make Bendak stuck on his weapon switching animation, and he kept attacking him with different weapons in that time frame.

The Force permitted Duncan’s escape. Why? To teach Revan (and the player) that ones’ skills mean nothing - not even a small bit - during the galaxy-changing events that are brought about by the Force’s will. Losing hundreds of duels ultimately had no bearing on Duncan’s escape because his purpose, given by the Force, was greater. What was his purpose? Maybe we’ll never know. Or maybe it was simply to teach Revan (and the player) this lesson. Shame it wasn’t in the final game.
