I also would like to add "The siren's song" as a part of the iceberg: when fighting the Siren if you pause during the fight you can hear a very disturbing recording of a woman singing Lacrymosa with lots of static.

    • @Admiral_Lips
      @Admiral_Lips 2 роки тому +16

I think that's because Lacrimosa kicks in when booker and Elizabeth are passing through the Lady Comstock memorial in the Hall of Heroes. This makes me think either Lady Comstock was a big fan of the song, or maybe - as Elizabeth says that the ghost of Lady C is more of twisted representation - she associates the song with her due to finding out her heritage in the Hall of Heroes. Regardless of the reason, I've probably worded this awfully...

I'm pretty sure the lore behind the cats is that they were originally smuggled into Rapture by Fontaine's smuggling ring. Due to most pets being banned by Ryan. Although after many were smuggled in, the ban was relaxed and multiple industries for cat food were created. Why they are all dead though ... I can't tell you.

Oh I guess I missed the Easter egg thread on the other video, but there is a Big Easter egg in Borderlands 2. Makes sence since both franchises were published by 2K. The Easter egg takes play in a pirate themed dlc where you have a low chance of spawning a "Big daddy" (named Mr. Bubbles) and a "little sister" (called Lil sis) enemy that sticks with the "big daddy". Killing them has a really low chance of obtaining the "Little Evie" gun which is also a reference to Eve.

After Suchong died, Gilbert Alexander continued his work, which allowed for more big daddies to be created after his death. Originally, while Suchong was still alive, Gilbert opposed the Protector Bond and created his own program called the Pair Bond, using his Alpha series. When that failed, he took Suchong’s Protector program and continued it after his death. This is described in the audio diary “Improving on Suchong’s Work”. So in my eyes, the date of Suchong’s death seems perfectly reasonable to me.

Fun bit of trivia for the siege of Columbia board game: several elements of the game are incorrect in terms of Infinite itself and lean more on the concept art. Fink’s character card is based off of his old man design, Saltonstall makes an appearance, and several Vox leaders appear that you’d never be able to identify in the final game. There’s also the fact that Soldier’s Field is labeled “Hall of Heroes” and the Finkton Docks was labeled “Shantytown” but you can put that up more to artistic license so the board would look pretty.

The cat theory can be explained away as the workers using cats to hunt rats and other rodents that stowed away when they first went to rapture like sailors would use cats on ships. The sudden deaths of the cats could be explained as the civil war worsening and everyone being hooked on adam, so they didn't care for the cats as they once did.

If Atlas' pooper made it in part 1, then the fact that one of the shark models in BioShock 1 ( if I recall correctly ) has their genitals fully modeled should have made it in this one. I specifically recall finding out about this when TreyTheExplainer had a video showcasing it many years ago. He seems to have privated or deleted the video entirely however, as well as a bunch of his other old videos..
However, with a quick google search, I can confirm that the model in 2 and Burial At Sea's great white have theirs fully modeled as well. Not sure why this is the case, but I guess they really wanted their sharks to be realistic.

I've been noticing similarities between L. Frank Baum's the Wizard of Oz and Bioshock.
Jack is very much like Dorothy, as they were both transported away from their humble farming beginnings (with parental figures) that they wish to return home to.
Dorothy was whisked away to Oz by a cyclone, and Jack was in an airplane crash into the ocean to Rapture.
They both are sent on journeys to find the person who rules over the location they are in, Dorothy must seek the Wizard of Oz- and Jack must find Andrew Ryan.
Along the way there are many enemies and monsters they face, but also friends who wish to better their lives with the main character's help, and ultimately end up with happy endings after their journeys.
Dorothy's Magic Shoes and Jack's Tattoos can be seen as plot elements that drive our heroes further into their travels.
Brigid Tennenbaum has similarities with The Good Witch of Oz, helping the citizens from the tyrrany of the Wicked Witches. Even the Little Sisters could be compared to Munchkins!
The Wicked Witch of the West could be seen as Atlas or Fontaine, as they employ "sorcery" of sorts and manipulation of their resources to eliminate the main character, but are ultimately defeated. (By little girls I might add- Fontaine=Little Sisters / Witch=Dorothy)
And the man behind the curtain is revealed to be an illusion all along, the Wizard character. I think Ryan and Fontaine fit into this description as they are the revered leaders of the city (as the Wizard of Oz is the ruler of the Emerald City) and they all fabricated fascades so that people would worship them. But at the end, they are average people.
(Fun Fact: the 1939 MGM Film's depiction of the Emerald City is designed after Art Deco elements which were popular at the time- and as we know was the main aesthetic design for the City of Rapture.)
I noticed these similarities and thought I could share them. Let me know if you guys have any other connections drawn between the Land of Oz and Rapture!

I want to add to the complications in Suchong's death date:
In the Bioshock 2 into, Delta and Eleanor are shown to be pair bonded during New Years Eve 1958.
In the Bioshock 2 audio diary "The Pair Bond Mechanism," Gil Alexander states that the first successful pair bond (Subject Delta) occurred after Suchong's death. "It is unfortunate that poor Dr. Suchong will not be here to raise a glass."
This means Suchong must die prior to the New Years Eve Riot.
However, in Burial At Sea Part 2, Elizabeth watches Suchong die roughly two weeks into 1959.
The entire history and science of Big Daddies and their bonding mechanisms to the Little Sisters is so contradictory in many ways. Again in a Bioshock 2 audio diary from Gil Alexander ("A Father's Love"), he states that the lab aides started calling them 'Big Daddies' after they were made into protectors. But a Rapture Daily Post article calls them 'big daddies' in reference to their recent invention and initial purpose as builders/maintenance workers.
I'm also really dissatisfied with the theory that Burial at Sea exists in a different timeline to the other games, since that defeats the purpose of them all wrapping around to the same events - and if the events of Burial at Sea represent a different Rapture, how else could a Rapture without Elizabeth come around to the start of Bioshock 1 as it does?
Not to mention that Burial at Sea is inconsistent with itself alone. Suchong first discovers a Tear on October 14 1958 ("Observation #17"), and steals the invention of drinkable plasmids from Fink. Fontaine orders the discontinuation of drinkables in November 1958 ("Product Recall"). However, Ryan has taken over Fontaine Futuristics by October 17 1958 ("Offer of Employment"), meaning that not only would Fontaine have no stake in the company by the time he orders product recall, he would be fake dead!

I’m pretty sure Sinclair and Alexander are mentioned in audio diary by Suchong in the Rapture Control Center. I think they invented vita chambers and Suchong kinda scoffs as the idea of raising the dead back to life. He then mentions that for testing purposes, Ryan had the vita chambers set to his genetic code, hinting at the fact that Jack is related to Ryan in some way before the big twist is actually revealed.

Or how if the splicers wear a mask, when it’s destroyed or taken off, their flesh is still in the shape of said mask - like clay. I know this is kind of old but with the big daddies and little sisters bonding during 1959. Adam carries genetic memory thus the ghosts you see in bioshock 1. Big daddies run on adam and the little sisters who bonded with that big daddy would've gone and deposited their adam into the central adam bank which would get recycled into other big daddies eventually spreading that genetic memory around so much that the bonding event would come preprogrammed into any big daddy that was pumped up with adam.
As for the little sisters in Bioshock 2 Its shown that adam allows a telepathic connection between little sisters. So once those two little sisters in BaS saw big daddies as a friend then all little sisters would see them as a friend.

Dumb theory: The cats were surviving after the war broke out in rapture by hiding in the many little sister vents or other small spaced however the pheromones that Ryan pumped trough the vents in order to control the splicers have also affected the cats which caused them to leave the vents and wonder aimlessly around the city with little no to no regard for their lives similar to the splicers.

I have 3 additional points to add to the iceberg
    1) Elizabeth wasn't killed by a Big Daddy: the theory is based on the dead body of Elizabeth we found at the beginning of Burial at the Sea part 2, it has almost no injuries or bruises, but for a single object stuck in her heart, it seems almost stabbed
1.5) Isolated from the multiverse: this theory is a continuation of the previous one, but is more debatable, it says that both the Elizabeth we control in Burial at the Sea pert 2 and the repented Comstock/Booker from part 1 are isolated from their other universes counterparts, so Elizabeth could not open more tears and communicate with the other selves, like the one seen in Columbia in part 2 and Comstock is not erased as all the other drowning Booker
    2) How respawn works in Bioshock Infinite: there are no Vita Chambers in Bioshock Infinite, so how exactly Elizabeth heals Booker every time? According to this theory she goes into a tear, takes another Booker with her and injects him with ADAM, the green, murky substance in the syringe, that trasmits memories and powers to one Booker to another (much like D4C in Steel Ball Run)
    3) Neon Genesis Evangelion connections: albeit very unlikely, this theory is fascinating, it says that the Luminescent Biomass is Adam from NGE, because in the Anime, Adam was referred also as "Hikari no Kyojin" (the giant of light) and created all the various angels we see in the Anime, so he has the capability of creating really diverse lifeforms, but another clue is that the little sisters call the corpses of ADAM users "Angels" but through their eyes in Bioshock 2 we see wing-like shapes around them, but is far from "dancing angels", so this theory says that they say so because of the influence of Adam (the creature non the substance), furthermore the plan of Sophia Lamb is quite similar to SEELE's project for instrumentality of man

It was gil Alexander, but it's still chronologically odd. It's just a muddied part of the timeline due to Levine not being involved with two but being involved with infinite. So he never references two, but also his explanation for suchongs death requires a character from bioshock two bonding all future big daddies. Also subject delta was supposed to be the first successful bond but Alexander's "pairbond" is different from the type of bonds suchong was working on. Like I said, it's just a bit messy and confusing but I could've done a better job explaining it in the entry.

The Sea Of Dreams short is vaguely wholesome but also sinister. And it gets awesome points for the trailer song.
Unrelated but is it just me or does Howard Hughes look like Vincent Price?
Also, interesting fact about the dead cats in Rapture. One of the dead cats in the freezer when you're in I think Fort Frolic (I could be wrong on this. Please correct me on this.) is named Schrodenger. This is in reference to a physics theory by the name of Schodenger's cat which is basically the cat is both dead and alive.
