here’s a clearer way to differentiate Korean and japanese: Korean uses letters which are combined into one space and syllable
ex: 나 (na, n+a, ㄴ+ㅏ)
japanese has specific letters for each syllable sound that are used one letter in each space opposed to building a syllable in one space with multiple letters like korean
