The 2023 Lexus LC 500h Is Still A Stunning Electrified Luxury Flagship Coupe

- When the #LexusLC first arrived about 6 years ago, the industry stood up and took notice because #Lexus was able to deliver a production luxury coupe that looked like a concept car and delivered that at a price that was far more attainable than the LFA supercar. Today, the #LexusLC500h still looks gorgeous and although most enthusiasts would tell you to buy the V8-powered #LC500, the #LC500h delivers the same performance in the real-world, while also doubling the MPG in day-to-day driving.

Happy Monday everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend! When we filmed this video, Lexus had not yet announced all the changes coming to the LC for the 2024 model year, so we wanted to clarify that here. The 2024 model will get the new infotainment upgrade and some new wheel and slight styling changes, however those changes have not officially been announced for the US market car, just yet, but we should be hearing something from Lexus in the coming months!
Small Correction: The keyfob is the newer one. The IS/RC are the only ones that use the older one.
I wonder how these are selling because I personally see no point in an LC 500 with no V8.
The 2024 model will get the upgraded touchscreen system, similar to what is in the LS500.
It will also get some suspension tweaks, and more options when it comes to interior decor
Yeah, I was confused too. Interestingly, the new 2023 RC also got some changes but I haven't found a review for it on youtube yet. 🤔
Yes, and a 360 camera + quite a list of tweaks, even to chassis stiffness evidently….the jury is out on what the new tech does to the interior so can’t wait to see one.
I have never seen a car company tweak a car's suspension so much. They tweak it every year. Lexus has no clue what to do with the LC's suspension. I didn't find anything wrong with the ride either time I drove it. I don't think they even know what they're trying to achieve at this point.
Outdated powertrain in toyota lineup for a 120k car.
The Lexus LC is built at Toyota's Motomachi plant. Like the Tahara plant, one of the best for assembly in the world.
Fuel efficiency is not the reason people buy this kind of car.
I'd take the V8. It would be about the experience, that includes the V8 sound.
I don’t agree. I like the style, build quality, reliability, but don’t want or need the loudness and v8 fuel economy. To each their own I guess.
Either option is worth buying versus a German. Reliability!
I choose the hybrid. More reliable, quieter and better at doing its job as a GT car. If I wanted a V8 I'd buy an RCF.
I understand but I would still get the hybrid because of the future laws that are coming, making it where a non-hybrid car can’t enter a city
If they had stretch the length put rear doors drop the price to 30 grand it would be the best highest selling car in the US.
This is not just a car, its a masterpiece a work of art
No it’s not 😂😂that screen is super old
@@miguelvega7769 screens don’t define a masterpiece in the first place
@@thepcuser5469 tell that to Infiniti with OUTDATED hardware, again OUTDATED is the term being used sir, the whole goal is to make a NEW CAR, NEW, not the same thing that’s been going on in the older models or generation
@@miguelvega7769 generally i just need a touchscreen with the LC, as long as it doesn’t become a tablet on wheels a newer screen would be fine, same for infiniti, as long as it doesn’t become a tablet on wheels, it would once again, be fine to put a newer screen
Also about what the original comment said, he’s talking about the interior materials, which are GORGEOUS
@@miguelvega7769 “no its not that screen is super old”, what a silly comment if thats the case then the jaguar e type is not a masterpiece because that thing has no screens, judging a vehicle based on the screen is absolutely ridiculous and dumb, so in your words a tesla model 3 or a Mercedes eqs is a “masterpiece” because it has nice screens?
I'm not gonna sacrifice the sound over efficiency. I still choose the v8.
I’m with you on that. I rather pay for the gas and get the V8
I agree with you.
v8 sucks
If I ever can afford this car, efficiency is the least of my concerns
@@efdm21 most definitely I look for reliability
I don't think the hybrid is necessarily for gas mileage , I think it may be a compliance car to have more hybrids in the lineup , or maybe to offset the emissions from the V8 LC
I dont think u would come close to the hybrid numbers in mileage with NA gas engine. It weighs 4500 pounds, u would be lucky to see 20-24 mpg highway from this, city would be in the mid teens.
RDIT: reading this comment again and realized I didn't understand what the poster was saying. My bad. Yeah, i can see how this is much likely a compliance car, especially with the numbers the v8 gives. I'm sorry I didn't read your comment correctly.
@@wwlittlejOfficial exactly. The V8 is the city is around 13-15.
its all compliance. Try to find this car anywhere on a lot its harder than winning the lotto lol
Great review _ have you seen the 2024 update - thoughts?
Still a stunner in the looks dept., great MPG, fair price. Its 85-90% of the fantastic car it has the potential to be.
Good news the 2024 version of the lc will have a touch screen running the new Lexus software it was just announced for the UK so we should get it also
Lexus can run without refreshing the exterior styling for another decade and that'll be just fine.
I can’t wait to buy one in a few months, ever since it came out… It’s just a number 1 goal of mine. I would rather get the V8 since it sounds a lot better and a little quicker. I’ll sacrifice gas mileage for the V8, such an underrated car!
As fast as the V8, better mpg, similar weight. Just doesn't have that beautiful V8 sound. Well executed imo.
great video, thanks for showing us a clean car !! with tire shine !
Been driving the v8 LC500 for the past 5.5 years and freaking love it. Still an absolutely stunning and beautiful car compared to many of the coupes that has come since and always turns heads.
What color did you get and how did you afford it? I need to go yolo into crypto again and just get myself an LC500 once we're in a bull market again next year.
lucky guy!
This is the spec I'd get minus the hybrid. 😉
Hey Sofan, I'm a great fan.. would you buy 1??
It might be the same 0-60 from a dig but the V8 will pull on it at the top end. Maybe it has better weight distribution than the nose heavy V8 as the batteries are in the back, helping with the acceleration from a dig, but not a roll race. My 3 series probably faster than this hybrid though.
The most gorgeous car of all time😍😍
I’m thinking the negative is the cvt transmission. It sounds funny. I would get the v8.
It's not really a true CVT with a belt and pulleys, no Toyota hybrid is. It's an 'e-CVT' with electronically controlled planetary gears.
@@paulklp8262 It's also mated to a 4-speed conventional transmission, apparently.
They screwed up
CVT and horrible sounding shifts/ no V8
They just threw this together for the 2023 model
Hopefully the 2024 will be better
Well then get the V8
I love this car ❤
This is my love lived dream vehicle 😍
BEAUTY! Stunning! Gorgeous! And with the famous Lexus technology, engineering and luxury. 😍
Still love this car
yeah the infotainment on a car like this is an absolute deal breaker, these inbetween hybrids are also kind of shit, worst of both technologies, 4 cylinders and not enough juice to actually have decent range on electric only
Beautiful vehicle. All it needs is a sunroof, sunny day, and some beautiful mountain roads to carve up.
An sunroof is offered but it doesn’t open like a traditional moonroof.
I hate sunroofs, they're leak and shatter prone. If you want open air, buy the convertible.
@@OMGWTFLOLSMH our family have had Toyotas and Lexuses, never had a leak or shattered. In fact we park our cars on the driveway and during the crazy California rainstorm in December and January, never a drop of leak.
@@OMGWTFLOLSMH They don’t leak unless you do not clean your sunroof drain which is basic up-keep.
@@jml9550 there isn’t one I think you’re taking about the convertible
My question is why do car manufacturers keep making 2+2 sports car, rather than true 2 seaters? Trunk space would be a lot more usable if Lexus took out those 2 small seats in the back???
Lexus should 3.5 twin turbo from LS 500 and with duos batteries. Call it " LCF " build it Lexus.
A car like this needs the v8
Put it more powerful electric motor with modern tech batteries. It will be the best Classic style GT car.
Design like no other , Nice Silky Smooth with more Powerful Electric Motor, V6 Refine like Bentley (not louding or shouting like V8 , plus Nice Fuel Economy .
Nice car but no people buy it bc they want big screen and big fat SUV.
If it was a daily car . Hybrid is better option. In my opinion.
so the gear is like: WTF???😂😂😂
Interior and exterior just feel like someone was tasked with assembling a Lexus from a storage room of mismatched parts.
Hybrid models are more expensive, so it's like paying for fuel upfront. V8 model is cheaper, so can pay the fuel cost difference for 5~10 years.
Beautiful car. Lexus drivers are becoming smug, IMO.
THANKS SOFYAN 👏👏👏 HAVE A BEAUTIFUL MONDAY EVERYONE...
Their's a leaked video of the new twin turbo v8 Lexus has made for the LFR and its sounds RAW 🔊🔊
They need to make a f-sport version with some sportier upgrades.
Nah they need a true F model, not an F sport that only has cosmetic changes
It HAS A CD PLAYER!!!👍👍👍👍👍
I love my CDs
the v8 is miles better tho.Crazy the performance is on par with the v8, the cvt helps with acceleration i guess, it still sounds good, i wont say it sounds bad. The na v8 feels slower in the real world cause of the na nature of it the hybrid is better around the city cause of instant torque, I see why pepole would buy the hybrid, some pepole need the hybrid and something that looks nice and doesnt suck on fuel.
Exactly. I like the style, build quality, reliability, but don’t want or need the loudness and v8 fuel economy.
@@jml9550 Yes, but me personally i would go with the v8, i dont care if it eats more gas i want the sound, especially with the top down, epic ride, will never get old. I wanna enjoy that v8 sound whilst we still can
@@chrism869 yeah I get it, the V8 will soon be gone. I like the design the most, performance or sound is secondary.
@JML not to mention the fuel prices, it's understandable why a lot of pepole go for hybrid cars or cars that have good perfomance and don't suck on fuel, the c8 corvette stingray is the one to buy if you want performance but also won't suck on fuel if you don't have the foot that wants to stomp on that gas pedal.
In that regard the c8 stingray is perfect for that.
One other thing is that that it sucks that the lcf won't be a thing anymore it would have been a supercar rival
Beautiful car. But oh why does it have ro be over 4500 lb😢
Why anyone would want this over the V8 is beyond me.
This car needs serious update drop hybrid that's stupid forbthis car. Or just discontinue it
The wrong LC to buy. Just get the v8
Absolutely right 🫡
It depends who's buying it.
I am not buying the V8 if I was buying an LC. I like the style, build quality, reliability but do not want the loudness and the v8 fuel economy.
@@jml9550 good point. The real world mileage isn’t a very big difference, but the sound… if you want quiet, avoid the V8 bc it is loudly glorious. I have been daily driving my 2018 5.0L LC since 2019 so my vote is supremely biased
@@BobbyDigital_100 I do most of my driving in city and short trips. so I guess the MPG will be a big difference between the V8 and the Hybrid. I love the V8, but just can’t see myself in it and needing to gas up every week or so…….
Here's some free financial advice! 🧐 Anyone purchasing this vehicle because they were worrying about the fuel economy in the v8 model is living wayyy beyond their means purchasing this vehicle! That will be $150 please!🤣😅🤣😅
Still my favorite looking coupe from the past 15 years. The concept looks, gorgeous interior, Lexus reliability. Wish I could afford one.
Lc500, 2014 fj cruiser and a genesis gv70. Dream attainable garage
In 2024 model year lexus will change infotainment systems
The silver is so gorgeous man. I am one of those if given enough money, would get the 500h over the v8.
Same here, I love the silver on this coupe and I prefer the hybrid over the V8.
I would get the V8 cuz that’s the only way you can get a convertible
They detuned the the 2gr to 257 so if they had left it at 311 n add 221 e motors it would be more powerful than the v8 variant….. i still would take the v8 maybe adding that e motor to the v8 to bump power to 600 plus would be nice n cut weight where they can
they should increase the v8 horsepower to about 550 horse power 0-60 around 3.5 to 3.9 secs so it let it still have those shift sounds
It will be difficult to push a NA v8 to 550hp without boosting it. And even with that, this car is far too heavy. They were gonna make a LCF with a new 4.0tt v8 but it has since been scrapped due to Covid and the lack of interest to the LC and LS.
@@huythai1222 if only people didn’t want stupid and useless SUVs nowadays
@@thepcuser5469 I agree, Toyota has the ability to create cars that are the pinnacle of the automotive industry. However, in their conservative nature as a brand, they won’t do it unless they can guarantee profits from said products.
@@huythai1222All the GR cars are basically loss leaders.
@@paulklp8262 are they really? The GR86 and the Supra are collabs for a reason. The main one being that since they’re collabs, any development costs are shared, therefore if those products were to fail Toyota doesn’t lose a whole lot of development money on bespoke engines for those vehicles (B58 in the Supra, which Toyota does not currently produce any in-line 6s). The Lexus F series have been using the same 5.0l 8 speed combo since the ISF, which the 5.0 was already based on the 4.6. While the only GR that’s special is the GR Corolla, but that’s essentially just the GR Yaris powertrain dropped into the Corolla because they already had to mass produce those engines for homologation purposes. I’m not saying that this is all bad considering I’ve owned both the Supra and the GS-F and loved them, but after the loss that was the LFA, I don’t think Toyota would ever commit 100% of their development money into sports cars like they had in the 90s.
I don't understand Lexus cars, but this.....
The performance of this hybrid should be the flagship 20 years ago. But today any awd electric will beat this probably including Lexus own RZ. But this style is just so attractive.
this car is pristine.. but you managed to pick the hybrid. sofyan ye bastard.
We didn't pick it, its just what Lexus sent us :)
@@theredline
*lexus ye bastards
For that much money underpowered car SLOW.
The exterior has grown on me.
The interior is still ugly though lol it looks old.
This would be a perfect reliable weekend car. If still fast enough I don't mind the hybrid system but honestly nobody dropping this kind of cash for a Lexus coupe cares about fuel economy.
There are some people that just want a quiet car.
@@miyukishirogane9579 why would you want a sport coupe quiet?
Lexus and Toyota I believe likes to manipulate its user base just like iPhones they are slow to update interior technology and exterior design relies on the acclaimed reliability and resale value to sell the same product for years and make minor changes I think that’s insulting to people who spend hard earned money on these vehicles…
No. Been like this since the Camrys came round. They reuse the same parts/engines in multiple cars cause they're reliable, cheap, and easy to fix which is why u rarely see them do much of any update to any of their cars unless its something they're making for a widespread of cars in their line up.
I really really really hope they bring the 2024 LC500 to the US as well! It would be cool if they brought AWD and something similar to the Hybrid Max powertrain to future LCs as well, before going fully electric
best looking car on the market
your right they should make it in a Prime LC500H
yea. funny time release this video :) because new LC has new infotainment announced. heh
A decent idea coupled by a hindering, vastly outdated interior that was outdated 2 years before it was released.
Sofyan, nice jacket! Mind telling where you got it?
Very surprising and disappointing. My 7 year old daily driver Hybrid has more HP, and weights 600 lbs. less, has more room, gets 28.5 MPH, and is $48,000 less cash! Has technology Not advanced for Toyota in 7 years? WTF Over? Every year Toyota/Lexus gets more disappointing.
Sorry but that 5 liter V8 wins hands down. Good job Lexus
Do Lexus ever learn to upgrade their infotainment system/ the interior period???
Get a used V8… BULLETPROOF!
The Hybrid sounds like a turbo-charged vacuum cleaner, but gets 25-30 MPH
The V8 is the one everybody buys because its $5k less, and it sounds like a dream
Lexus sells about 100 LC Hybrids a year
Lexus sells about 2000 LC V8s a year
Who in their right mind would take this over that beautiful V8?
I have no idea why this drive train even exists, come on.
right car, wrong engine 😅
The INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM is fine! No problems if you read the OWNER'S MANUAL and use VOICE COMMAND like a normal adult would do after purchasing a highly complex and very technical machine. Only morons use the trackpad. 98% of the time VOICE COMMAND will do the trick. Unfortunately, this guy doesn't do his job very well. He simply describes the car but doesn't show the viewer the features. With APPLE CAR PLAY, you use SIRI. He'd know that if he wasn't a dunderhead and lazy. Maybe next time, he'll fulfill his obligation to the manufacturer, do his homework and then and only then give the viewer an EDUCATED OPINION.
Man car looks so gorgeous 😍
Love this car. Now, if they had a hybridized v8 for best of both worlds… then it’s game over
They really should try to make that happen. Chevy did
Should have put electric motors in each front wheel so it's AWD and kept the V8.
The hybrid LC is for the typical Lexus customer that appreciates comfort, quiet, and smooth driving ability over the theatrics and noise of the V8. They know their clientele.
The only thing more electrifying than that Lexus is Sofyan!
If someone is gonna pay $100k + for a car, I guess those moonbats don't care about the 200 mile range.
Is this as easy to steal as other Toyotas and Lexi because here in the UK lots of HiLux and various other models from both brands are getting stolen regularly!
You missed a key component - you are looking at a future classic. For a car to be this ageless over now an eight year period is truly remarkable. Add the beautifully finished interior, a car that sells in small numbers (when compared to 911, SL's etc) so rare - this will become Lexus's BMW 850CSi. Just love mine. ua-cam.com/video/7RqblbIeMjA/v-deo.htmlsi=3ko4pLMRyzTPH6oE
Is it really still worth over $100k? There is cheaper and better options. Does Lexus not think their customers want change?
Can you give examples and answer why?
@@НикитаЖук-н1й examples of what?
It absolutely blows my mind that you actually talk about fuel economy with cars that cost $100,00 + give me a break, do you actually think that people with that much money care about fuel costs, get real here buddy, my tuned Fiesta ST is only a second slower than is car, all that technology is only going to breakdown, but you have laid it down to only privileged people. The Fiesta Flash.
Who in their right mind would buy a 6 figure car with a CVT.....who?! Those sad dronny shift sounds 🤢. Has more in common with a 25k hybrid Corolla than any of its competition.
Nobody buying a luxury performance car to save on gas. Plus a cvt in that? No thanks. That’s just asking for trouble. Maybe my 70 year old grandma will enjoy it.
This would makes so much sense as a 2018-2019 lightly used model at around 60,000. They hold their value less than the V8. And you’re left with a stunning car that is perfectly reliable and still gets 30mpg…
The great part is it’s a 6 figure car but with the repair and maintenance of a car less than half the value.
You would have to be brain dead to choose this one over the V8 version. Gaining 10 mpg and losing over 100hp. You'll take a hit on resell value too.
10 mpg better and the same acceleration isnt a bad thing. The only thing you are losing is the engine sound
Who cares about sound? I've seen sports cars rev up hard while climbing to a whopping 45mph while a quiet Tesla can easily smoke this, though quality wise this is way nicer to me
Those two different reds and two tone black combined with carbon fiber accents irks my nerves. I guess some people like it but I'd rather have one shade if black and thay dark red. And if I'm going for carbon fiber I just go all black or all red woth carbon fiber accents. But hey ya like what ya like
I'll take a V8, thank you
Air vents for cooling the brakes makes no sense🤔
you are definitely right the hybrid should have been used as a power adder for the v8 and add awd... this thing becomes a 700hp monster... instead they made a boring prius wannabe.
It'd just be asking to get destroyed by things cheaper than it and It'd end up heavier and more expensive in the process. Too many options that are just better to get than the LC tbh.
This is one of the few modern designs that has really captured my attention. Very curious to see what Lexus does in this segment after the current model LC, though I can't help but notice how much heavier it is than my Cayman while having roughly the same power. At least it accomplishes a similar 0-60.
Man revving that engine does not sound good at all. They should can this model and give the V8 version more power it needs it.
Just the noise from that V6 and crappy CVT is pure garbage. Lexus should be ashamed of putting that mess in the LC.
HOPE LEXUS BRING BACK MORE POWER FULL IS500 650 HORSEPOWER AND A NEW LS400 REDESIGNED 600 HORSEPOWER
Oh my God, that engine sounded awful! 🤮🤮 I thought the 2023 got the new infotainment but so guess that’s the 2024.
Only reason I’d get the hybrid would be if this car is way cheaper than the V8 one on the used market tbh
It's funny how as you get older ,your preference of comfort and luxury over stiff sport cars increases.
Would make more sense if it the hybriy was plug in an quicker than the v8 with AWD.
Only 100 lbs. heavier than the V8? Is it me or are these cars getting ridiculously heavy?
